Thank you for great turtorial, but in the end I just ended up with Authentication Codes when I logged in the first time even if in the settings I choosed all methods so how can I get this to work properly?
Hi great video, I did follow your instructions on my website and logged out before getting to the two factor authentication step, when I logged in again I skip the setup so long to just log in and continue with the tutorial but now I'm by the two factor setup and the page for setting it up doesn't show up anymore when I'm done logging in, lol hopefully that makes sense
Hi Douglas! Thanks for the comment. Yeah it makes sense! Just disable it inside of the plugin and then enable it again, should do the trick. If not, go to “users” -> “my profile” and set it up from there 💡😃

Hi Anna! Well the cURL error is a WordPress REST API issue. The problems arise mostly from your hosting company. PHP version or old cURL version or your hosting company firewall is blocking it... try to ask them first 😊

Hi again! Great to see you here. Well there is no benefit in using them both at the same tame, so yeah on new website I only use iThemes. I like the interface better and the possibility to change the backend URL is quit nice.

Hi James! Thank you for your questions! I prefer iThemes security, works great with my Divi websites and hosting company. Never had any issues. 2) I think they could run toghether but I don’t advise that. It could be that it will be causing problems you don’t notice on the short term but then suddenly it appears that you have a huge database because of a logging conflict or something… Those two tutorials are already here! The only thing i miss in this plugin is that it not includes malware scan and an advanced firewall. Could you also make an advanced security video: moving wp-config file outside installation, how to avoid /wp-json/ etc.....would be great - thanks
Hi Michael, yes the malware scan is still something they should add to the plugin. Even the PRO version would be great to have it. For this I actually use WordFence once to scan and clean if there is a hacked website. Moving WP-Config is actually a fun idea to implement on the next video about security. Its a bit for the advanced user, but with step by step instructions, everyone could do it 😊
@@WPressDoctor, I had the same question. So, instead of repeating it, just let me confirm I got your point. Wordfence is too heavy to be used just for malware scanning. So, do you mean you install Wordfence, scan and clean your site for malware, and then delete Wordfence from your site? For the firewall, I think the hosting provider should play this role better than we do at our website levels. What do you think? If we really need it, I'd go with Cloudflare, which provides great WAF protection.
Yes you got it right Younis! WordFence I only use for one time use when a site has been hacked. It’s not to heavy, it’s just lacks a couple of features I want to have like 2-factor authentication and hiding the backend 😀
Hi Thomas and thanks for the question! If they have weak passwords, they need to update it after their login. If you changed the login URL, they need to have the right URL of course also. Besides that, nothing changed 😃

Matt, when I go to save my settings after changing the login slug, I get a message at the top saying .theme_compat_slug should match pattern - and then a load of digits, commas etc. Do you know why that is please?

Hi Matt, when using the hide backend feature I get a 404 not found when using the new login slug, some users can access via the "....hb-token=...." url but others can't even when clearing cache etc, any ideas??
Hi there! If you have a lot of people logging in to your website, don’t bother changing the url slug. It will do more harm then good. Just keep XML-RPC disabled and you have already saved yourself a lot of pain 😀👍🏻
My website is hacked with malware or something... When anyone goes to my website, it redirects them to a "verify you're not a robot" page. Which redirects them to more spam sites. I followed several of your tutorials, and no luck. It may be something in my .ataccess file, but I don't know. Nothing looks suspecious, but then again, I cant tell as I dont know anything about this stuff.... Can I maybe copy & paste whats in my access folder to see if you or anyone sees any issues with it?

Hi there! You are very welcome. That is because you need to get a SSL certificate via your hosting company. Usually this is free, but it has to be activated. If that’s activated and you still have insecure content, it’s because mixed content. Report back here if you have that 👍🏻🤩
Hi Ehtesham! Thanks for your good question. If you have installed WordFence thoroughly than no, it’s not needed to install iThemes next to it. Both plugins do kind of the exact same thing (except malware scan and hiding the WP-admin). So your good 👍🏻😀

Hi there and thanks for the question. Well this typicality occurs with some hosting plans. You could ignore it for now and try sending it in to your hosting company as a ticket. It might be that they block some connections…
Is it possible to change the set-up once iThemes is already installed? The site I'm building at the moment is likely to have an ecommerce shop added at a later date. So for now it's a brochure website but I'd want to be able to adjust the settings when it becomes transactional. Or would I have to delete and re-install the plugin?
Hi Anna! Yes it’s possible to change the settings in a later stadia. No problem at all! The difference is mainly the security for customers and login for them. Also integrations with your administration software (bookkeeping) and shipment software could maybe use the XML-RPC api, but that totally depends. But you can try that out when you add WooCommerce 👍🏻😀

For some reasons the "hide Backend" doesnt work at all for me. Still access from /wp-admin. With the "hide my login" plugin it works right away :-/ any suggestions?
Hi there! Thanks for the question. It has to do with your cookies of the browser. Try to clean caches and then open your website in incognito (private) window. Let me know if that works?
@@WPressDoctor I wonder why and am the admin (created the website). Once I go to file manager and rename it to the way it was before, then sign out. Now, when i try to login in again am looked out till I rename the plugin it. It's irritating.

Hi there! Thanks for the question. Yes you should definitely install it on each and every website. It depends on how the hosting is set up (silo’s?) but when they hack one website, they could go to other sites also in the worst case. Make sure to close all gates on all websites!

Thank you for this video Matt. I have been following you step by step. Heres whats up, I have set up 2fa but everything i try to login, it doesnt ask me for 2fa code, it just takes me straight to my backend. Is this normal? Unlike wordfence, everytime you want to login, it asks you for a 2fa code.
Hm that’s not supposed to happen. Try going into Wordpress native “users” then “my profile” and see if you can turn it on somewhere there 👍🏻😀 let me know if that helps.
I feel after installing this plugin my payment gateway Razorpay is having some issues in order to gather the data using webhooks, is there any way to add some IPs in the whitelist which are provided by the Razorpay team

Hi great video, I did follow your instructions on my website and logged out before getting to the two factor authentication step, when I logged in again I skip the setup so long to just log in and continue with the tutorial but now I'm by the two factor setup and the page for setting it up doesn't show up anymore when I'm done logging in, lol hopefully that makes sense

Hi Anna! Well the cURL error is a WordPress REST API issue. The problems arise mostly from your hosting company. PHP version or old cURL version or your hosting company firewall is blocking it... try to ask them first 😊

Hi again! Great to see you here. Well there is no benefit in using them both at the same tame, so yeah on new website I only use iThemes. I like the interface better and the possibility to change the backend URL is quit nice.

Hi James! Thank you for your questions! I prefer iThemes security, works great with my Divi websites and hosting company. Never had any issues. 2) I think they could run toghether but I don’t advise that. It could be that it will be causing problems you don’t notice on the short term but then suddenly it appears that you have a huge database because of a logging conflict or something…

The only thing i miss in this plugin is that it not includes malware scan and an advanced firewall. Could you also make an advanced security video: moving wp-config file outside installation, how to avoid /wp-json/ etc.....would be great - thanks
Hi Michael, yes the malware scan is still something they should add to the plugin. Even the PRO version would be great to have it. For this I actually use WordFence once to scan and clean if there is a hacked website. Moving WP-Config is actually a fun idea to implement on the next video about security. Its a bit for the advanced user, but with step by step instructions, everyone could do it 😊

Wordfence is too heavy to be used just for malware scanning. So, do you mean you install Wordfence, scan and clean your site for malware, and then delete Wordfence from your site?
For the firewall, I think the hosting provider should play this role better than we do at our website levels. What do you think? If we really need it, I'd go with Cloudflare, which provides great WAF protection.
Yes you got it right Younis! WordFence I only use for one time use when a site has been hacked. It’s not to heavy, it’s just lacks a couple of features I want to have like 2-factor authentication and hiding the backend 😀

Hi Thomas and thanks for the question! If they have weak passwords, they need to update it after their login. If you changed the login URL, they need to have the right URL of course also. Besides that, nothing changed 😃

Matt, when I go to save my settings after changing the login slug, I get a message at the top saying
.theme_compat_slug should match pattern - and then a load of digits, commas etc. Do you know why that is please?

Hi there! If you have a lot of people logging in to your website, don’t bother changing the url slug. It will do more harm then good. Just keep XML-RPC disabled and you have already saved yourself a lot of pain 😀👍🏻

When anyone goes to my website, it redirects them to a "verify you're not a robot" page. Which redirects them to more spam sites.
I followed several of your tutorials, and no luck.
It may be something in my .ataccess file, but I don't know. Nothing looks suspecious, but then again, I cant tell as I dont know anything about this stuff....

Hi there! You are very welcome. That is because you need to get a SSL certificate via your hosting company. Usually this is free, but it has to be activated. If that’s activated and you still have insecure content, it’s because mixed content. Report back here if you have that 👍🏻🤩

Hi Ehtesham! Thanks for your good question. If you have installed WordFence thoroughly than no, it’s not needed to install iThemes next to it. Both plugins do kind of the exact same thing (except malware scan and hiding the WP-admin). So your good 👍🏻😀

Hi there and thanks for the question. Well this typicality occurs with some hosting plans. You could ignore it for now and try sending it in to your hosting company as a ticket. It might be that they block some connections…
Is it possible to change the set-up once iThemes is already installed? The site I'm building at the moment is likely to have an ecommerce shop added at a later date. So for now it's a brochure website but I'd want to be able to adjust the settings when it becomes transactional. Or would I have to delete and re-install the plugin?
Hi Anna! Yes it’s possible to change the settings in a later stadia. No problem at all! The difference is mainly the security for customers and login for them. Also integrations with your administration software (bookkeeping) and shipment software could maybe use the XML-RPC api, but that totally depends. But you can try that out when you add WooCommerce 👍🏻😀

Hi there! Thanks for the question. It has to do with your cookies of the browser. Try to clean caches and then open your website in incognito (private) window. Let me know if that works?
