TLDW: I got rizzed by a zoomer and was heart broken when he didn't actually love me

    Hey Alex,
Sorry to hear your disappointment with the pistol and our service but I think you were very fair by posting the emails so people can read them and determine the intent for themselves. We never intended to be dismissive and took our time to reply and explain each point you brought up. We take warranty claims very seriously and treat our customers the way we would want to be treated.
We actually had a preproduction RMR HD to test fit last August and it fit our mount and cut perfectly. However the production RMR HD units are inconsistent and seem to have a lot of variation in the footprint dimensions. This actually happened with the initial SROs as well and some of those optics needed modification to fit a deep optic cut. Right now we are seeing that some RMR HDs need to be modified to fit while others do not. I expect Trijicon will get their manufacturing specs better as production increases. That being said we do cut to Trijicons own dimensions they provide plus a couple thousandths for safe measure, we can’t widen the cut any more without it looking bad on RMRs, SROs and RCRs…. The gap would be ugly and fill up with grime over time….. people would not like that. Also, we can’t raise the cut without it interfering with holster compatibility, our mount is as low as it is to facilitate maximum holster compatibility without modifications. Hopefully the RMR HDs will become more consistent dimensionally and not require any modifications to fit in the future.
As far as the grip safety, you noted that on a the return and we confirmed that it operated at a least 50/50 let off per our specs. The grip safety did operate correctly (even though I hate grip safeties and despise the cavalry for besetting us with that scourge).
As far as QC after Rob leaving to start his custom shop, the reality is that he trained the gunsmiths over the last 5 years as ACW grew and we have instituted some new changes since his departure that has more than cut our warranty return rate (which we track very closely) in half from where it was when Rob was at ACW. I have been with ACW since just after its launch and I can tell you the quality of the guns going out the door now is higher than it’s ever been. However, even with our updated and rigorous process things can still slip through and that’s why we stand behind our guns 100% with our warranty.
Now the link pin…. As you said it’s up for debate whether or not they should be staked but we took your pistol as a learning experience and now they are fit extremely tight so that someone else does not have the same experience down the road. I’d rather have the link pin stay in myself and it’s not a difficult change to make to fit them tighter so that doesn’t happen in the future. The reality is the pin is captured in the gun and the upper lugs and lower lug fitment against the slide stop are what create accuracy not the link pin so while it’s not an issue for it to be to be “loose” however, it’s not a good look to have it come out too easy.
Someone else mentioned it, but the x300u-b will have movement until the screw is properly tightened. It’s just how the x300u-b works.
Once again sorry to hear you were unsatisfied with the pistol and our responses and decided to sell the pistol as a result. We want everyone to be happy and proud of their ACW and we took your comments on the link pin to make a better product for future customers.
    - Nick

      Dear Defcon Creative/Alchemy Custom Weaponry,
Thank you for your response. It’s good to hear that you are improving certain things like the link pin. In my feedback, I tried to leave a lot up to the buyer, noting that if you are more skilled with the platform, you will enjoy it a lot more than I did. I have since moved back towards the tactical Tupperware Glock.
I appreciate your efforts and dedication to enhancing your products.
      Best regards,
      Alex

First, I appreciate your candid and honest review. It is very refreshing to see someone give their opinion openly without fear of backlash. I too made a review of my ACW Quantico in which I was open about the issues I had with my gun. ACW did attempt to make it right, however I still experienced intermittent problems with my primary complaint and other issues (that I have not followed up on) which ultimately resulted in me selling it. That was my personal choice. Will I buy another? Probably not but that’s because I’m over high end 1911’s. I still to this day, appreciate ACW doing everything to right a wrong.
Some people think of me as an ACW fanboy because I made so many videos countering Beretta9mmUSA criticism of ACW but I am far from that title. My issue with them was their scumbag / shill approach to handling the situation with ACW. It was never about the guns. Your issue and delivery is straight forward which is respectable.
I would say that the optic issue isn’t on ACW. The cut was made before the release of the HD and they have said numerous times that it had fitment issues. The x300 problem is also not on them. I’ve never heard of the B model not fitting snugly once tightened. It really does seem you simply needed to take a penny and hand tighten it just a bit.
Now as far as your other complaints…those are justified IMO. I am 100% with you, I expect damn near perfection on a $4.5K gun. A barrel link pin falling out?!?! Those are some of the tightest fitting pins I’ve ever seen on any 1911! For it to just fall out is a foul. It reminds me of my rear sight on my Q. If I loosened the Allen key set screw to adjust the sight, the rear sight moved freely….like if I were to turn it to the side, gravity alone would cause it to fall out. Thats how non fit it was…. a first for me 😂
One final note, those emails did not appear to be rude or smug at all. I say this from a neutral/outside POV. They appeared professional and matter of fact. I can see how it may have read to you but I’d imagine that’s because you had/have an emotional investment.
I don’t think a refund was the route to go. ACW couldn’t do anything about that. The best they could offer was warranty repair which it appeared they were willing to continue.
Overall I appreciate you sharing your thoughts. I too love my Glocks and Sigs and still have a soft spot for my 1911’s. I would say that it wouldn’t hurt to broaden your knowledge as far as maintenance and repair goes. Having the know how to fix/adjust simply things (like the grip safety) goes a long way and honestly feels very satisfying when you’re able to correct something on your firearm. But that’s just my opinion. Good luck to you and your future endeavors in the gun community.

So first of all, Ive watched alot of your content and its awesome that I get to interact with you in my own comment section.
I agree with mostly everything you said. I dont think my expectations were unreasonably and for the price tag I expect alot to be perfect. This definitely wasn't that.
I do agree that the emails were probably fine and I was just a little sensitive due to the fact of it being 4.5k of my own money but in my perception a few lines like the "As you can see im responding on a Sunday" were a little off putting. Im not forcing you to work on a Sunday my man, talk to your boss about that.
In regards to the refund, I would have liked to see if be offered. Not because I think people should be able to get refunds on their expensive guns whenever they want and that "The customer is always right", but because it would have alleviated this entire issue. My video would have simply said that I had a few issues but they refunded it so I still consider them great and they will take care of you no matter what. A 1911 company lives and dies by its reputation. Many once great 1911 manufacturers have really fallen from grace in recent years due to QC (Im looking at you Nighthawk) however they usually offer refunds from what Ive seen online. If they wanted to eat the cost but save alot of face (Not that this video is really going to negatively affect them at all) I think a refund would have gone a long way. My gun was damn near pristine too so they could have just offered it on their website as used for a couple hundred dollars off. I do understand your points though.
I agree with me needing to improve my knowledge and experience with these platforms. If I was an expert gunsmith I feel my opinion would have been exactly the same but maybe I would understand the issues slightly better. If im paying 4.5k for a gun, It doesnt matter how smart or good I am with the platform, I still expect results.
Really appreciate you dropping in. Ive watched a couple of your videos multiple times and I really enjoy your no-bullshit take to your videos. Always feel free to DM, Comment, Email me.

@@ArmadilloArmament haha. I’m nobody special. Just another Joe Shmoe giving my opinion on YT. It has no weight. I just try to be as transparent and honest as I can on here. I appreciate the compliment though.
Like you said, $4.5K is a lot of money and I don’t blame you for feeling the way you do. I’ve been through it before as well. If you’re going to talk a big game (ACW talks a BIIIIIGGGGG game) and run with the big boys, then there is a certain level of expectation and satisfaction that comes from the clientele whose spending that kind of coin. We all realize no company is perfect, but with the audacious advertisement and showmanship that they do…people expect results. Some people have a high threshold of patience…others have a lower threshold. To each their own.
What’s important is deliverance on product advertised. How ACW decides to meet / maintain that standard, only time will tell.

@Armadillo Armament I can appreciate the frustration you experienced. For that kind of investment, there is an expectation that it will arrive without any issues. The issues and QC do suck and shouldn't happen as it makes the experience poor. The RMR HD and x300 are not on them; they don't make them and don't even recommend the HD. I didn't see anything rude about the shown emails, but in context I appreciate it was infuriating. Refund when they offered to correct it doesn't seem likely as they obviously cannot resell it since it was used at that point but you selling it makes sense. Thanks for sharing your experience tough to tell strangers you didn't like your expensive purchase of a popular thing be well. I'm on the fence with double stacks as well; they look awesome, the art and skill to build them is impressive, and they shoot well. They are so expensive and a bit particular plus I'm a noob enough shooter that they are not substantially better than my CZ Shadow 2 time will tell.

    • @ArmadilloArmament
      @ArmadilloArmament  6 месяцев назад

Yep, everything you said is true. I cant blame them too much on the RMR HD and the X300 issue. Same with the grip safety issue because its preference (assuming it wouldn't fire if not actuated). Still left me wanting more for sure. I'm not "surprised" they couldn't refund it but honestly I would have liked to see that offered. If you buy a expensive gun and it has to go back twice I feel they could have made an exception and said "Ok clearly this isn't working out and weve made some mistakes so for the sake of keeping everyone happy well just eat the cost" Basically. In terms of shoot ability I didnt speak too much to it but im happy sticking with my glocks. I find that the quantico maybe shot 5% better than my roland special and definitely didn't warrant the price if you're just looking at the gun for the performance increases. Thanks for watching!

I can understand your frustration after paying all that money, but I don’t see it in the emails. I don’t see anything rude at all. Not sure if your disappointment and frustration with your expectations of the firearm taints your view of your interactions with the employees.
As I see it, the x300 isn’t their problem, same with the optic not fitting.
The safety can be a user preference thing and you seemed kinda unsure about whether or it had an actual problem. Sometimes you start to see the ghost in the machine if you think there’s a problem.
The link pin, I would agree they shouldn’t just fall out. I’ve heard it should be tight, I’ve heard it doesn’t matter if it’s loose, I’ve heard stake them, I’ve heard don’t stake them. As long as the gun locks up and is accurate and I’m not losing the pin when I take the gun apart I wouldn’t really get wound up about it.
