Fan made video... a love letter to the Earth.
Please note: The majority of the footage in this video is creative commons time lapse and slow motion footage from around the net. I also used segments of, "The Maestro", a short film by Adam Anthony. Although I edited the various clips together with the intent of creating a visual dialogue for this amazing Pearl Jam song, I do not claim credit for the cinematography.

Mr sir I was with you until I checked out a trump face that's all . Be well please.
I dedicated this song to my son over 15 years ago? Well, he just sent me the link to this video! Made my day! This song is a masterpiece! And I absolutely love, love, love this video!! Thank you for creating it!
How is this song so underrated?!? This is one of the best songs I've heard in my short years of living!
+Hannah Walker I think the same
Feel the sky blanket you with gems and rhinestones
Agreed. This song is criminally underrated.
For sure! This is one of my favorites of PJ's
Yeah i love this song :)
One of the best songs of the best band in the world
"See the path cut by the moon For you to walk on...."
Incredible and so real... I am grateful for this song.

When I am feeling weighed down, stagnant, and frustrated, this song never fails to remind me to take a step back and see my life in broader terms. Reminds me to put my focus and energy into things that really matter.
Experiencing this life, the journey, the enlightenment, loving unconditionally... these things matter.
Making money, paying bills, owning things, status... these things in the end, do not matter.
Brandon Christopher A beautiful description of life's ...
well said. agree 100%
Perfect.
PJ always bring me back up. They are one of the rare bands that manage to tap into the universe
Brandon Christopher well said sir
Whenever I walk through our local forest, it's this song that comes to my mind first ... earth, soil, that living scent of the forest after heavy rain, blue sky, wonderful mountainhigh clouds. One word: life. Pearl Jam. Thank you.
After 20 years Pearl Jam can still write songs like this that throw me
against a wall and give me an adrenaline rush. I can't believe it's been 20 years since I first heard Jeremy on my car radio. Keep it up gentleman, you are unique and your gift is needed now more than ever.
30 years now😮
unica vera rock band ancora attiva oggi...longevi ed ancora con testi e musiche da maestri... grandi PJ!
Eddie's voices speaks to every thing!
You said a mouthful!! So very, very cool....😊
Thank you for the credits. I search long time for the video "The maestro" (i knew the scenes from it) but I did not know the title.
I lost count of how many times this song has saved me. File under "Pearl Jam's response to what a really uplifting song should be".
Pearl Jam is my favorite band of all time.... and whoever did this did a HELL of a good job!! One of the best unofficial music videos I've ever seen. Kudos :)
Er! .Kudos!.
what a beautiful vibe this song has inside..i love it.
Great song...
Amazing video...
I think this is one of Pearl Jam's best , I just love this song and Eddie voice there is no other like it. By the way I think the video worked really well with the music. Good choice and a great job.
Pearl Jam is love, Pearl Jam is life

amen
Totaly Agree!
I've been listing to this song since I was like 7. Now I'm a tween and I clicked on it and actually started crying. 😂happy and sad. Every time I think of this song I think of my old house in the city!
I been homeless many years cause of my alcohol addiction but I refuse to be etiquette as a homeless man, travelling America on freight train(hobo style),hitchhiking were my way of locomotion, everything in this video reminds me of my past the old homeless man,the train tracks, the highway in fast motion and the people doing their regular life ignoring the homeless man,all those things I experienced during those years on the street,I’m a huge Pearl Jam fan,but this Video have a great place in my heart,it’s like a page of my memoir ❤
This interpretation of one of my favorite Pearl Jam songs is magical. I listened to Backspacer on repeat as I traveled to visit my brother in hospital, late September to early October 2009. The tattoo on my right arm is an interpretation of the lyrics and personal meaning of Unthought Known. Great work. Thank you!
Was rewatching one of my favorite shows, Castle. This played at the end of season 2 episode 21 "den of thives." I just had to look for it. So glad i found it. I'm going to replay it now until it makes me sick haha.
Pearl Jam, such a wonderful band, such creativity!
Fantastic song.
I was born into a decade where pop is taking over and my dad and I are really sick of it so all we do is listen to Pearl Jam in the car. This is easily my favorite song of all time but the rest of Pearl Jam's songs are just amazing and really speak to me!
Great, dude. I wish my dad listens to Pearl Jam. Such a nice bond.
My father and I do that same thing! PJ is on in the car almost 100% of the time. This new pop/rap is absolute garbage!
You're so lucky your dad has good taste in music and he's so lucky you are down with Pearl Jam as one of the greatest bands ever....sometimes precicious kids are pretty ok :)
Brayden Cooney mumble rap . some words then you mumble . next thing you know got all this cash to brag about.
This song. Chills every time ❤
when they play this song live its amazing. when it starts picking up. god i love pearl jam
So beautiful ❤️. I’ve never heard this Pearl Jam song before 😊
Alchimia pura 🖐️💚♾️🌞✨
“Feel the sky blanket you with gems and rhinestones” and then “see the path cut by the moon” is in my opinion such wonderfully expressed life.
I love his voice, it does something to me x
love PJ
Whenever I listened to this song I felt there was a little something missing. It was this video. Now it's perfect.
I found out what's missing rhe first time I heard it.
And it's more people actually listening and learning to live and love
Can you imagine a world with out Pearljam? I try, and then I start to cry.
This pumps me up every time I listen to, PJ always fukin' amaze me.
Never tire of listening to this.
Best poetry I have ever heard along with mesmerizing piece of music!!
Mega Video 👍 super Song... Thank you
May We Live ForeverJust To Listen To This Voice, Watch This And Those Human(s) Beings... THANKS A LOT EDDIE AND YOU... MOTHER EARTH'S ORCHESTRA'S CHIEF.
Backspacer and this song are a part of my heart.... I love singing Eddie.... 💘🥰
honestly like the love I have in my heart for pearl jam/eddie vedder is like UNEXPLAINABLE eddies voice, the lyrics, the guitar, drums, legit everything in every song ever made is just wonderful. I legit feel blessed to live in the time I do to be able to listen to pj. (even tho it would have been awesome to be a teen in the 80s/90s when pj was at its highest) but I'm 19 years old and have listened to pearl jam since I was out the womb and I have my dad to thank for that I'm so glad I was brought up around rock/alt rock music because it brings so much joy to my heart and a song like THIS ONE...blows my mind. it's music like this..... music is awesome and I cant get over it.
Emily Tooke glad you appreciate good music
Emily Tooke this is exactly how i got into music! you describe my feeling perfectly
Great video. Speechless. Great song and great video
Eddie put so much heart, soul, and feeling into every song. If you watch live performance videos you can see it in his face. His physical gestures and facial expressions show him pouring himself into every word. So awesome. 👍👍🔥🔥
Love this so much. Reminds me of songs off Yield.
What a magnificent lyric. Words for all to live by.
DocBaby80 top ten for sure
You did good.
And by that I mean, a very beautiful and poignant video that you put together.
Wow I just realized how awesome this song is
A song that saved an Entire generation.
Not yet but it is eternal
Great job, man.
This is my favourite video in the whole youtube, and it could be the official video clip for the song.
Cheers from Brazil!
Beatiful perspective...as an unconditional PJ fan, I believe they are certainly proud of this amazing video and of what their music inspires.congratulations!
What about the audio? Backspacer isn't owned by any of the labels and PJ doesn't block usage of their music on RUclips as most bands do. Despite some 700K page views, I haven't made a single dime off of this video. It was simply meant to be a visual accompaniment to one of my favorite Pearl Jam songs ever. I put it together because I wanted to post an actual video of the song on my girlfriends Facebook wall, and only slideshows existed at the time. So no mixed messages or ill intent.
Thank you.
ChasingDogma this video makes something great into something memorable. It suits the feel really well, and then im not even getting started on cinematography. Thanks for putting this into my life! i hope i speak for others as well.
@M S Just saw this video today ... thought it was an official one. Superb job
Awesome video
ChasingDogma This is totally awesome! Thank You for making it! I Love it
Love this video. I have posted it at least 2 times on facebook just because I feel so.
Awesome shots. Great editing. All around standing ovation!
I really like this song. It makes one think about thinking! And so much positivious (?)! Love u always...
A hymn for "Fuck, whatever happens, stand up! Life is worth living every second!"
This that and then some. Fuck what anyone thinks. This world is yours and yours only. Make living worth it
That was AWESOME! Whoever created this video has talents that have not been fully utilized on this planet...
One of my absolute favourite videos ever. Great Work!!
i hope Eddie wont see this !!! they will stop making videos again (rofl)
i have listened over 10 times the last 60 minutes. Great song.!!
every morning i blast this song on my computer..love this song man:)
i love this song smmmmm
I can't get over how amazing a video this is with no involvement from the band. Best band ever, best fan base ever. This video actually enhances the song. Just incredible. Been coming back to it time and again for a decade now. When he starts conducting the waves, my God. Society might deny you a place within it, but everyone has a place in the world and the beauty of creation is there for all of us.
This is far and away one of my favorite music videos. Thank you to whoever it is that made this.
God damn, this is awesome. RUclips thought I might like this. You done me right, youtube.
+Jonas Butler Lol! RUclips was right! (been listening to this song since i was a kid!)

Doing it until I find a real person
The Best....Eddie my idol.😍😘🤗🤗🤗😚😚😚🌏❤❤❤❤🎶🎶🎶🎶📣📣📣
this is outstanding. i understand that you made it with footage that already existed, but that just makes it even more incredible. there's a narrative, a story in that. i can identify myself with the guy, i can interpretate and give meaning to the scenes, and, most of all, i can see and feel all the turns and twists of the song. you've got an unbeliavable talent to combine images and music. this video just became my favorite of this big "kitten video library" that we call "youtube".
How do you know that this footage already existed? Where have you seen it before?
Gives me hope in this crazy world, chills every time I hear this song. Best band in the world!!!
Great song by a great band. Very underrated song in my opinion.
one of my favorite pearl jam songs. keep inspiring guys much love
bellissima canzone!!! Eddie ha come semlre una voce travolgente!!!
I heard this song for the first time as a closure song of an episode in "CASTLE". And I loved it!
I have to tell you - this video is awesome! Good job...
Great song! :)
My God that was beautiful. Like someone sneaked a camera in mind when I close my eyes and bliss out to this song. Thank you.
this song is amazing live
trey burke seen PJ live twice and they didn't play it either night, third times a charm!
the guy in the video and the people who made it deserve at least some award

Chasing Dogma: Your video is PERFECT. Congrats on capturing the essence of Ed's masterpiece. Thank you! This song elevates me to such a place of innocence and perfection. Euphoria, a poster below says. He is absolutely correct in his description of this song.
Awesome lyrics, awesome video, awesome music. AWESOME
Dear Pearl Jam, Keep doing what you're doing. You're beautiful. Love, Jonas
I must have watched this 20 times it never gets old much luv xoxo
They opened their Isle of Wight Festival show with this song. They immediately had the entire crowd on the palm of their hand. Needless the say I was fighting the tears, it was an unbelievable gig.
some days you need certain songs they make you cry and give you a reason why thank you
My mom loves Pearl Jam. She's 63. I love Pearl Jam. I'm 34. We each did heroic doses of mushrooms. Long story short, we still love Pearl Jam.
did you do the mushrooms together? I had to hide the "good" music I loved (including Pearl Jam, Warren Zevon, etc) as all three of my boys decided that any music their mother liked (when they were teenagers) had to be totally uncool....and I couldn't have them hating Jimmy Hendrix, etc.....they've pretty much adjusted to the fact that their mother liked a lot of the stuff they liked as teenages and now love - long before they were even born . Really fine music does tend to defy generational boundaries - a lot of the time, just not always
Yeah, we tripped together. My Mom's favorite bands are probably The Beach Boys, Fleetwood Mac, Pearl Jam, and Steely Dan.
+Maggie Flinn I love Warren Zevon too. I was listening to Warewolves of London in my room one time and she peeked in and said "David Bowie?" I said "No, Warren Zevon." She said "Oh yeah, that's right. Sounds like Bowie, though." I said "yes it does."
+Jonas Butler
Have you come across anyone who feels about Pearl Jam as we do - who doesn't also love Warren Zevon's music? (or David Bowie's)
Years ago, a few years before Warren Zevon died, I went to seem him on one of his fairly frequent visits to the small venues in and just outside of Boston. I had an "in" at this particular place and could have gotten my seriously underaged (16 at the time) into the show (since the was alcohol being sold, entrance age was 21) son, still living with me at the time. Sadly he was still stuck in the rut of not allowing himself to like any music his mother did.....(god, what I had to refrain from listening - outloud - to for those years - for all three boys!). He not very graciously declined.
Only a few months after Warren had died I was visiting this same son in his dorm room at BU - and as usual, he was downloading songs. Warren Zevon songs. I couldn't help myself as I asked him "do you remember the time I wanted to take you to a club to hear......" as he interrurpted me "no, please don't tell me that it was Warren Zevon?????"" I did a bit of motherly consoling and he then promised he'd never turn down such a suggestion again - even if (as with Warren Zevon at the time), he'd never heard of the artist(s). Sadly, there's not been such another time. Then again, I've been living here in Maui for more than a decade and he's been in DC .
At least I don't have to censor what music I play here when any of the three come to visit anymore!
Unthought Known is by far my favorite of Vedder's songs that he does with Pearl Jam. The first time I heard it I could have sworn he was channelling Jim Morrison - both the voice and the seriously poetic nature of the song - and the imagery he uses. Any thoughts on that?
On Zevon, I only have about two, maybe three friends and my Mom who share the same kind of passion for his music. On Unthought Known, I think, not only Vedder, but the whole band reached a new level of comfort and proficiency. Backspacer is sheer joy all the way through.
I know it well. It took some time listening to that particular song in order to get the lyrics to blend well with the solo's and tempo of Mike's awesome fingers. It definitely became one of my favorite albums.
The line "Let me run into the rain to be a human light again" to me represented the need I feel to keep a grasp of the happy child within my mind. To share that child with others and make them partake in it and see things with virgin eyes like the days past.
Excellent suggestion btw. TY!
Be safe and keep refuge.

Awesome 🌍🌊🌒
4.3 million views on an unofficial clip? Goes to show how great it is. Thanks for making this!
Roger França , Yes. this video Does not kill the song as some do. Brilliance behind this video. :)
Welcome!
Awesome montage, perfect song. Thank you.
5 years later I notice this is not the official video, that's how good it is ❤
It has many elements of official music videos, city images of people walking in slow motion, the frame by frame pigeons taking flight, but indeed, pearl jam is a great band and many of their songs has more than one unofficial music video. My other favorite unofficial .usic video is this stitched on hundreds of hours of live video in 2011 Toronto for Keep On Rocking In The Free World. Just flawless audio video sync

With gems and RHINESTONES!!! - beautiful !
Kate, I had trouble on talking to you on some things because I did not want you to feel sad. You hid it well, but I could still see it.
I hope time has passed and you are doing okay. So this is just a reminder of my love. A reminder of the way I felt and how I told you much of this, but some I might not have. I hope I am wrong about some of this. I hope you can find love one day again.
I had to type this up in advance as I felt it coming from my soul.
From my perspective the lyrics are from a husband to wife. The husband feels guilt and remorse for being ill and dying.
This may be my perspective because that is what I am going through. I have laid in bed as my body rots listening to this song with the most beautiful woman ever to grace this plane. My heart aches knowing that she puts on a strong face for me now, but soon when I am gone she will be stricken with so much sadness and pain.
This is a feeling I could not wish upon my worst enemy, or the worst of humanity.
To be 37 and dying. To meet the perfect love that agape cannot give justice to. To fall madly overboard for each other, get married, and become so ill that you never got to take your honeymoon.
How can I not feel guilt. She is 28 years old, and I would hope that she could once again find love after I am gone. Yet, I doubt no human being could ever love her as much as I. She will continue a long life knowing that she will never be able to reach that level of love that we have felt. I truly wish I could at least make love to her one last time. Maybe leave her a child for the future so that when I am gone, she can still feel love.
I may be dying an agonizing death... but I've got the better end of this deal. For there is no way I could do what she has done. There is no way I could continue to live if I lost her.
The deeper the love, the deeper the loss. And no poet or songwriter could ever put into words the love we share. And that will bring immeasurable sadness after I go.
That is my take on this song.
So be grateful. Use my words as perspective for life. And I hope all of you can find even half of the love that me and my princess feel. For that alone would be enough to change the world around you for the better.
I've watched it 100 times already!
one of the best bands of all time.
Man... This is the best music video what I have ever seen ... THANKS :)
If humans an technology exist in 200 years this bands music will still be played.

Fucking awesome video... Pearl Jam, the very very best of grunge....

Last June I were in Spain and went to see Eddie in Madrid. This year Madrid is on its knees as it is my lovely contry too because of this virus. And this summer we cannot go to rock 'n roll festivals and concerts. I will continue supporting my favourite bands in other ways. They are our voice and speak a in a soft, orderly, and yet powerful way.
This with Wishlist are the Pearl Jam songs I impress my closest people with (including girlfriends).
There is one thing though from this song that I learned it is a times not valid: "Dream the dreams of other men, you'll be no one's rival." Well, since I started dreaming the dreams of other men I attracted many more enemies than before!
Favorite song by Pearl Jam, right next to "Just Breathe" and "State of Love and Trust".
Man,this video just captures it all, thank you so much for sharing.
I just saw them live at DeLuna Fest in Pensacola, FL. They played Unthought Known... it was amazing. Check them out live if you get a chance.
ChasingDogma hey there, is there somewhere I can check out your Given to Fly vid (it's blocked on RUclips in UK)
