      @@delilahsorensen855 no, they could threat it like a Korean hair but they didn't. I'm Japanese and I go to Koreans salons a lot. They don't do that normally. People don't use curly /afro hair here, like never. So they usually do it straight, flat Idk what the English word for it. Even perm is different than your perm here. We only love to get some "slight" waves. But I've never seen a Japanese or Korean hair salon do Afro hair ever in their lives and I live in Tokyo normally. It's a big touristic city. Even they don't do, Koreans don't do that either. But still they try to make her best and managed to NOT RUIN it. I have a black friend and he got a haircare in a different country and they ruined his curls it took to long to make them nice again. Koreans and Japanese people are too passionate about everything they do

      the thing about this is that normally, we DO this already. when we complain it’s BECAUSE of something egregious, like how black hair is still treated in hollywood. that differs from this, because there was care and respect that went into everything; that’s why we commend it. basically just don’t get it twisted! we say what we mean and we say it WHEN we mean it.

      I'm not a beautician, but I would have to assume that when you learn how to do hair, you learn about different types. Not to the same extent as the one that you see most often. They'll teach you something about other types for the experience if nothing else.

    • @dcarter455
      @dcarter455 Месяц назад

      @@andromedaloveless1120 yeah they teach you principles but nothing specific to coarse or tightly coiled hair. My sister graduated recently from cosmetology school and she really had to advocate for herself (she has a texture similar to this) during the course to have her texture of hair addressed in lessons. They tend to focus on silkier and looser textures of hair during schooling. Most beauticians learn about other textures from experience, post graduation. You’d be surprised how many clients with this texture of hair end up with severe damage to their hair simply bc of lack of education mixed with hubris on the stylist’s part.🫣

    • @xSaraxMxNeffx
      @xSaraxMxNeffx Месяц назад +16

      @@andromedaloveless1120 since there is such a small percentage of the population there with this kind of hair most are not really taught how to style it at all. they probably learn about how curlier hair tends to be more prone to damage and breakage with heat treatment but thats likely the extent of it. I see a lot of videos where the korean stylists are actively being taught by their POC clients how to handle the hair texture cause theyve never even touched something like 4c hair.

    I love Korean stylists, they will do their level best. Way back in 1988 I was newly stationed I'm Korea andxmy hair had fallen put a couple of months prior due to a horrible perm. I went to a Korean stylist, no foreign hair stylists were in country, who put a curl in my head using the tiny red rods. I had practically no hair at all.. Baby, I saw her every 2 weeks and when I left Korea 9 months later my hair was down the middle of my back when blown out. They will always try♥️

      In Korea, I wouldn't expect a racially homogenous country to know HOW to do a black woman's hair whereas in the USA, Canada, UK, or France, if you go to a salon, you would expect them to know how to do your hair (especially if there are advertisements with black women in them from the company). And often times, most of us just let the situation be as is without complaint. It's not about bitching over any little thing that doesn't go our way.

    I know we’re really proud of miss girl doing her best with your hair but I can’t stress it enough!! Like she didn’t try to straighten it, she didn’t try to brush through it with an actual brush, she just did her best to style it with what she had!!
    I know there’s a chance that you probably instructed her with what she had on hand, but even then, props to her for listening to you if that were the case because then that means that’s a learning opportunity that she accepted with the intent to learn.

    She’s a doll. I imagine she doesn’t see your 4C texture often, if at all. She seemed determined to give you a good experience, regardless of her inexperience with your hair texture.
    Edit: I just learned that this creator’s hair is 4A-4B, and not 4C. Doesn’t change the spirit of my comment, I just wanted to acknowledge that I was wrong about that. I’m not a hair guru girlie, and I don’t want my original comment to be misleading to anyone with 4C hair

    I love how BOTH of you showed such RESPECT & open mindedness towards each other.
    I applaud you for going to a Korean hair salon & try something new & not be afraid of it. We need more ppl like that in our world... great job!
    I'd also like to applaud the hair dresser for doing her job at 100% even though like you said in the video, she wasn't knowledgeable about how to deal with black ppl's hair (don't even try it..y'all know this isn't being racist. Just facts). She did her best, and asked if that was ok with you, which was nice & again you were also very understanding which was just really sweet & beautiful to watch ❤❤️❤️
    I do believe however that IF more black people went to Asian hair salons... you'd be surprised to see how quickly and eagerly they'd learn how to deal with different types of hair. 😉 It'd be a win- win situation... I know many black hair salons where you have to wait HOURS for the next person to be done. This might ease the load 😅

    I really like how you didn't focus on the fact that she didn't know how to style black hair but on the effort she put in to doing the best she could with your hair. Very respectful and I do think your hair looked healthy then when you went in, so great job to both of you.

      Yeah, considering how much practice it can take for us black folk to be able to handle our own hair, I really can't stand when people get upset that other people that aren't used to it can't handle it.

    I never get offended when stylists are upfront about not knowing how to style my hair bc girl i didn’t know either until i was in my senior year of high school and i live with my hair. It’s about managing expectations and being honest with your client. Every time i go to the salon for color my stylist shows me new techniques and products thats she’s been practicing with for my hair type 😂 i love it so much ❤
