    Im researching Puget Sound fishing as I am relocating there to be close to my daughter. I must sat your channel is most helpful. Its a different world there. Here we avoid terminal tackle. Thanks, you are a great teacher.

    Do they generally only hang out in the areas around steelhead rivers? We don't have any down here in the deep South Sound, so I'd imagine there aren't many steelies milling around

    I dont know anyone that has "checked this box". Great video. I would say more elusive than a leprechaun. Saltwater steelhead=1:1,000,000,000,000,000

    WDFW use to release 1.5 million winter and 400k dinner run steelhead into Puget Sound annually... sadly those days are long gone.

      Very true, long gone are the days of even seeing multiple fish let alone a shot at a unicorn. Crazy to see in my own lifetime how much it has changed

    My wife caught a 20" kokanee from the bank on Sunday the fish was super chrome, a very rare thing to do, crazy thing is she caught one last year same spot might be seeing a pattern here..i have been trying to think of a setup to target them from the shore. I might try that spin glo setup but downsize the hardware. Thanks brother tight lines!

      @HolyMolyOutdoors  7 месяцев назад +1

      Oh I could definitely see a downsized version being killer if they are coming in tight to shore that’s awesome!!

    You have the gear right, but those saltwater steelies are extremely hard to catch, mostly due to lack of numbers. I have spent 100s of hours fishing Whidbey beaches for winter steelies from 2012 to 2020. Hooked one briefly for all that effort. Nor did I ever see one of my fellow anglers catch one. Actually fellow anglers were pretty rare & I usually had the beach to myself. The ol' timers said they still occasionally catch one but they are pretty rare since the number of hatchery fish was curtailed.

      @@danhall3450 you are correct, this is more a thing of the past unfortunately. The Puget sound steelhead decline is one of the most sad things to have observed in my lifetime. In less than 10 years is all but about gone. Always possible to still run into a fish or two but sadly a lot more difficult. Thanks for watching and the support

    Would you recommend trying out picnic point park as a location to cast?

    • @HolyMolyOutdoors
      @HolyMolyOutdoors  2 месяца назад +1

      That can definitely be a spot to intercept one or two! Cannot hurt giving it a try

      @@HolyMolyOutdoors I really love what you do and appreciate it. I moved here from Kansas with my wife and daughter and I work 14hr mon-fri and part of the time I have to work through the weekends. That being said I am not afforded all the time in the world to go, learn this new style of fishing/new regulations and find all these locations and what baits work for salt vs fresh. I only recently found you which I’m sad I didn’t find you sooner in the year but now is the first time I actually feel like I have a chance in going out and catching something. So thank you

    Do you think this light weight rig with a slip weight is better than a fire red rooster tail?

    • @HolyMolyOutdoors
      @HolyMolyOutdoors  7 месяцев назад

      Yes I would say only because the spin n glow has a little more ability to keep in the strike zone at a slower retrieve or close to shore. Roostertail can definitely get it done though. Thanks for watching and the support!
