Having help with baby is HUGE. My hubby and I are on a retreat right now with some folks from church and all the ladies cuddling, loving on, and being basically aunties and grammies to our one-month-old has been so helpful and special. Literally used this video as motivation to wake up from a nap that I could only take because my wee one is snuggled up in an adopted-auntie’s arms 🥰

I’ve been a father for 15 years, and now that I am a single dad of two teenagers I’m struggling too. This is my first year on my own with them and it’s so hard to keep positive and continue to fulfil my duties as a father, and to remain being a good dad plus manage to look after myself in the same process. Luckily my mum is around to help when I can’t cope, but I hate asking her for any help because then I feel like I have failed my kids and let myself down. Awhile back I was told by my ex wife and her father that I was a bad father and a terrible husband :( That is far from the truth, all I have ever done is want to care for and protect my family especially the children. Now that those words are in the back of my head I struggle to feel worthy and feel like I have to try extra hard to be a good dad.
It’s a long story but what I wanted to share with you Jess is that even with experience some parents still struggle and that’s okay to admit and yeah as parents we feel that our kids should be our own responsibility, but look at it this way if one doesn’t look after themselves first how can they do the same for their children. Admitting that you need help or are struggling and possibly feeling lonely while caring for your baby/children is more than fine to do it’s normal. My advice would be to ask if you can join in on a local mums group so that you have other mothers to chat with about your experiences and how to cope with certain situations. Go out to a cafe or two and speak to other women young and old and you will get plenty of support and advice. Believe it or not parenting is a a two person job especially when more children come a long. Otherwise the kids divide and conquer and run you ragged, so make sure you talk with Gabe and let him know how your feeling and set times for daddy daughter days so he feels part of the team and you can rest. Express milk and let Gabe do some feeds to take some pressure of yourself frequently. Remember if in your heart you know your doing a good job with your baby keep believing it because you probably are even if other people say you’re not. I think you’re doing a top job with the little one especially having very limited in person family help.
So encouraging! I’m sure your teenagers look up to you in so many ways even if they never say it.
The fact that your assuring Jess when you are stressed and worried at times yourself is truly inspirational. Just remember that parents need time to process just as much as kids do. I am a teenager myself and something that makes me happy is when my parents are emotionally there for me. Make sure that you also make time for yourself. I am glad I came across this comment so that I could send this message to you!

I can tell you I wish my parents would have told me when they were struggling because it would have made it more comfortable to open up to them! That is how deep relationships are built, through vulnerability. You're doing great!

thank you for being so open jess. i’m not the kinda girl who follows tons of youtubers, but i have been the biggest fan girl of you (and gabe) since i discovered you guys in 2018. and i am convinced it’s because you’ve always stayed so pure, honest and real. even though sometimes i have hard time allowing myself to sit down and actually relax, i always find time to watch your videos. i always look forward to them, they make my day.
tonight was a night where i felt a bit down, a bit sad. i felt unmotivated, and i find that one of the few things that actually makes me feel better is watching your videos. especially sometimes scrolling through the older videos on your mutual channel, i always re-fall in love with those whenever i watch them.

The 7 and half deaths of evelyn hardcastle is so good! It's definitely challenging to understand at first, but stick with it it's so rewarding at the end. Very vivid imagery, a complex story, and characters who you don't know who to trust. It's amazing

Absolutely love Jess videos. I get how you feel because i loved being a mom since the start but it was definitely an adjustment for sure. It does get easier and you adapt. Now I have 3 kids and I’m also struggling joggling so many things but you definitely get used to it and can’t image life before kids my oldest she’s so much help she’s 6 years old, her brother is 4 and babyboy is 19 months and baby is so attached to me. But they are all great and unique in there own ways. I love seeing how they grow and develop. I feel like the transition from 1 to 2 kids was easiest then 2 to 3. But some days are better than others.
Really appreciate you being so open about everything… it helps with all the fake bs on the internet

I am a new mom, my kiddo is 14 months old! For me things don’t get “easier” in the sense. You grow stronger mentally and more confident in what you’re doing. Having a supportive group around you is the most important thing too!! I am so grateful for my husband, family and friends for their love & support. You got this mama, you’re doing great! ❤️🙏🏼 so happy for you and Gabe and all your success!

Parenthood is hard and changes a lot of things (my baby is 13 months!) and it seems like as soon as one challenge begins to fade, a new one arises😂 but what changes is your resilience!

I can totally relate with loving my body more now than I did before getting pregnant. I had my son in July this year and my body went back to normal after a week and a half. My stretch marks on my belly are around my belly button and literally in the shape of a heart . It’s the cutest thing ever and I’m proud of them.
