Garrett, one of your best projects! Most vector programs have the back minus front and outline to object functions, so it is easy to translate to Inkscape or Corel.

It would be great to see the same purely in Lightburn.
I almost exclusively design in lightburn, this is totally doable. A lot of the 'duplicate' layer is making OUTLINES / Outward and Inward.

Okay back from LMAO - GREAT great project! My 5 year old nephew asked me this week that he wanted to know how my laser worked. I told him we could make a project together, I think I will be making his name with Dinos or Creepy Crawlies - he will decide and I will be the coolest aunt in town!

Good video, great idea for a product. I wish you would show the final product at the beginning so as you progress through the video, I can relate to what you are doing with the final product. Not all of us have access to, are trained in, or want to use illustrator.

I agree with @dian3145 one of my favorites too! Could add some string lights to the inside and on the back, love the lights that are remote/Alexa controlled and come with adhesive and increase the price even more

Can you do a video on how to do these in lightburn?
Thank you for sharing how you do this, I love everything you guys do. I am trying to do this for my son and having an issue. In AI when I add multiple images for the Layer 3 when I get to the part of Minus Front after Shift Clicking the images it only leaves one of the images I put in there. Even though when I shift click it is showing all of them highlighted. Is there something I am missing? Basically only leaving the image in one of the letters, getting rid of the rest.
Make sure your objects are ungrouped, then you might have to do a Minus front multiple times to clip all the pieces. Copy (ctrl+c) then Paste In Place (shift+ctrl+v) will come in handy when when the front piece disappears after Minus Front. I do a Minus Front then Paste In Place for the next clip.
Thanks, will look into that, after trying to cut some I think I realize why it kept doing that just gotta figure out how to correct it. I was using a name with LE at the end and even with the unify or such it was keeping the L and the E separate so when I tried to do that step I guess since they weren't connected it would try and get rid of the rest. I did trim instead to get the job done but will have to see why it didn't join the L and the E together. Thanks again for everything.@@KimandGarrettmakeit

When I try to erase parts of the letter, mine turns white? It doesn't seem to erase. I can't figure it out.

What do you plan to use it for? If you don't plan you cut clear acrylic, I would say xTool S1.

Yes, a S1 can definitely be used to cut these! The S140watt is a beast, we were shocked how easy it gets through the MDF. We used it on MDF in this video: ruclips.net/video/gEsOiRMUmVQ/видео.html

HA! I checked out your channel, you got me beat with the back and front flips. I am rusty, but I can still bar and 3 at 50. I have been to Woodward. I grew up riding POSH with Joe Rich, Chris Sales and Jay Lonergan.
So I click on the paints and your sold out, ok I go to the manufacture website and there sold out now that's more than a coincidence, is you paint supplier out of business?
We are having supply chain issues. The manufacture cannot ship until their temp is above freezing. We should be ready in 2 weeks.

Far and away, my favorite video you've ever done. I've been thinking about it for a week and decided to try and follow along today. I'm new to AI but I'm getting there. However, i'm getting stuck at the 3.5m mark for erasing the overlap. My ai doesn't do what yours is in this spot. i don't get the larger round cursor and if i click on the overlaps, it just kind of creates a little dead spot. Any tip you'd could recommend? ThankS!
You can change the size of your cursor with the "bracket keys" to the right of P. The bigger area should help erase instead of just a dead spot. Let me know if this helps! ~garrett
@@KimandGarrettmakeit that's cool. i didn't know how to resize the cursor and that part works but still getting the same behavior...just larger "dead spot.' I have a red stroke on a black fill and when i click with the erasor on those vectors, i just get the large white dead spot.

I love this and have tried for over a week to make it happen. Is there a tutorial using XCS? Can't merge Layer 3 and Layer 1 copy. Up until then everything works. Thank you for sharing all your projects. I've learned a whole lot and gotten so much inspiration. I use Affinity Designer and subscribed to Illustrator wanting to do this, but can't make it happen.
