It would be helpful to know the name of the oil used and the ratio to any additions required. A rather vague explanation.

How long after treating the tree do the leaves become safe to use in cooking again?

My plant is about 10 to 12 inches tall. Over the winter the leaves oozed sap. Now that it's warming up, I set my plant outside. I couldn't believe the number of wasps going after the sap on the leaves. Is this normal for wasps? Kind of wish they would go after the scales as well. How can I get rid of the scales? Any help is appreciated.

Unfortunately not very useful. Haven’t a clue what it was you were spraying. Some sort of oil, but it wasn't possible to catch it from your quick mention. Nor did it appear on screen anywhere. I think you need to be more precise and informative.
