Good afternoon Morris ..... on 13 March 2018 I purchased 64 Hg Laurel Portugal ( 12/16in 30/40cm 2L) to form a hedge at the front of my property. A year on they have been absolutely brilliant! Now well over a a metre high with thick strong growth. They have been planted in quite heavy clay soil with doubtful drainage but they have taken beautifully. In the autumn I will give them their first trim using an existing open wooden fence as a template. I also purchased 60 Buxus and 6 John Downey Crab Ornamental Apple trees. Once again planted in the heavy clay soil but once again they have taken well and have made a very attractive low hedge. Not being a particularly experienced gardener I relied on the telephone advice that I received from the Hopes Grove Nurseries Staff. I found them very polite and knowledgeable. The delivery was prompt and efficient. Overall, a hassle free purchase with a very good outcome! I would highly recommend Hopes Grove Nurseries. Thank you very much....
Hi Morris, nice video / introduction ! I have two laurel growing nicely outside, but I am not sure what kind of Laurel it is. If I send you image, could you tell me what kind of Laurel they are please? as I want to buy more the same kind of Laurel for the hedges.
❓Which Laurel do you think would be best for zone 9b (Oregon Coast USA) in windy winters? I live about a mile inland from the coast. Thank you for this excellent video!!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
the bark on mine are black and pleasent looking and i think it is a hardwood = very good for firewood, and i have a question of any potential for the wood being poisonous and should it be harvested in winter so it does not contain the sap or whatever, the thick branches are small enough that it does not require splitting to fit in a fireplace/cookstove
Damm. I like to get some more Laurel hedging. (Previous owners left me with 30ft high Laurel trees. Which have since pruned down back) But I am on the Downs, upon Chalk. So I don't understand the statement that they do no like Chalk ? - I was going to get some more Laurel, but maybe can I get 4t "Portuguese Laurel" easily ?
Hello Morris I've planter seven foot laurel and the leaves have started turning yellow do I stop watering or continue the soil seems moist Regards Ricky 25/03/22

Shame on them and stupid not to read up on them . And you have given no warning either Bro tut tut anything for that sale ay . 🐔 💀 Full of coincide!!! Wish I knew at the time

Hi Morris. Can you add woodchip mulch to the soil where the laurel bushes will grow? Thanks
Any mulch will do in my opinion. These plants are so easy to grow.

Hi, Do you need to water them at the roots or can you water them at the top over the leaves and give them a good drink?
you shouldn't water them from the top, learned the hard way :P /green can turn yellow and develop infections if you do
Useful, thanks 👍

I thought it was bugs too. Its Shot Hole.
They look great, so many people selling leggy laurels.
Will this plant grow in Ontario Canada?
Can't see why not.I would protect them when they are young and first planted.
So y didn’t you give the prices
How would you treat shot hole & what time of year?
Please can you send me a picture of laurel tree ang leaves please
What is "Chook"?
Femineity think its English accent for chaulk?
I would knoe more about holly(ilex) plants
Can anyone recommend a good pesticide as my 1 year plants are being eaten by insects and I'd like to stop this. Thanks
Do deer eat this tree?
No. But they get shot hole fungus. May take 1 too 3 years to show a lot.
Why the background music? It's unnecessary, annoying and distracting.
मुझे आपके सभी पौधे चाहिये।
Nice video, shame about the music which I found annoying and difficult to listen to the guy talking.
Hideous things laurel hedges. I have spent many hours removing laurels that were taking over and shading everything out.
Your experience and not others paul

Cyanide you mean? Or could’ve just said CN-
@@matthewcaimbeul8722 yeh that’s the one
Chickens won't touch laurel leaves, probably not the hedge that killed them.
@@KidMillions they eat it by accident and it’s the seeds that really get you . I know what coincide poisoning looks like and it ain’t pretty .
Rubbish I have taken Laurels out the roots aren't that deep. You are making this up.
EVERY TIME YOU SAY OR SHOW THE SIZE YOU CUT AWAY 🤬WHY 🤬
