- Terraria 1.4 added something good... now you can stack torches up to 999, instead of that horrible 99. Finally, why did it took that long?... ok, that's not addition to the game, but there are things added in Terraria about torches, like biome torches. It is important that new luck systems and things like that are associated with torches. In this video, I explain some of it... probably not all of them.

Terraria is pretty dark game. Not because you demolish whatever you can, but it's because caves are too dark. Seriously. Do we need brightness slider, like in that 3D blocky game? I bet those won't help you either. Even worse if there's water... But you have torches to fight against those darkness, of course! Because Terraria is a survival game, you know? Every survival game must have torches, right?.. either on some wooden sticks or in flashlight form. Didn't know they were called "Torches" as well.
But of course, nothing is perfect, and so is Terraria's torch. It is... not really logical at all, but there's so many things that need some question, like Boreal wood lamp requiring some ice torch... Yes, that's some good one, gotta say. What about brightest torch in Terraria? Which is the brightest one? is it just ultrabright torch?... well, not actually.

Actually, due to recent patch 1.4 bad torch luck was removed!
That means that putting the wrong torches in the wrong biomes will never give you bad luck, it just won't give you extra good luck!

I'm still happy they removed the HIDDEN feature of reducing the LUCK (which basically makes the gameplay worse and longer) based on torches.

I once have a potato phone for gaming atleast. On my little house with a basement filled with white torches, white torch is so bright i every time I respawn or recall tomy house I lag my frames drop to 20, mostly 10, like I had to change those to normal torches.
Do characters in survival games always carry lighters? How do they light the torch? Do they have a mini torch that they light the normal torch with, like hank hill?

The bad torch luck mechanic is gone a while ago, but the good torch luck is still in game.

Fun fact: Coral Torches work underwater, and don't give negative torch luck if they're placed underwater outside of the Ocean.

Why are there 4 recipes for ice torch instead of one that uses "any ice block"?
terraria devs making lesion light furniture: lets just use normal torches in the recipe so the player doesnt have to collect all those cursed torches to craft them even though it has cursed torches in the texture
also terraria devs making boreal light furniture: well it has ice torch on the texture so it has to use ice torches lol
