I don’t understand the media’s outlook on the Lakers. Denver is the only bad match up for that team. They just got significantly worse with the departure of KCP. We saw what losing Bruce Brown did last year. I think the West is a pick’em this year.

Strip off Lebron and for the crazy contract you put in one real star who plays defense and can score, or 2 young up and coming stars who can score but have focus on the defensive end and that team will not be a pretender, but a real contender. They showed that they do not play worse without Lebron, rather they actually play better and more dynamic without him on the team.

That guy is wrong about the 2018 decision. Yes, he wanted to be in LA, he also went there to win, and he knew that him being on the Lakers would attract good players like AD. And they won.

We do not even know if he will take less. he knew that the Lakers only have a small window to get someone good for the MLE if he opts out, and he already said he will take the full max if they cannot sign someone there, which is VERY likely to happen. I am sure this is the same level of smokescreening which they also did with the interest in the other coach which also was not realistic and JJ was pretty much already decided upon behind closed doors.
Lebron will probably take the max, and he will screw them over even more by doing that. He has been a liability on defense for the past 4 seasons and it won't get better, rather it will get worse. Lakers are out of any realistic contention for as long as that man stays with the Lakers. I am sure he knows that these years coming up will just be a circus for him to have his wish granted and to grab as much money as he can before he rides into the sunset without having any chance at another title.

Big problem with Philly being the ones to de-throne Boston. Let's compare Philly to the Mavs, Maxey is Kyrie, who got shut-down, Paul George is Luka, who got shut-down, so the one mismatch is Embid, who has yet to get past round two of any playoffs. Philly is better to dethrone the Knicks, then the Celtics.

Sorry, but I think the Lakers would win a match up in the playoffs against Dallas even with Klay. Denver is the only one who's knocked them out of the playoffs in the past several seasons. I bet they'd have match up issues with most teams, but those teams would face the same. AD and LeBron are a heck of a force alone. They had bad coaching issues last year, and maybe the change will bring a new direction. The team is a good one. They pushed Denver, who's already the WG favorites next year and they got weaker so far this off season. The Lakers are close.

They'll be healthier, added a few nice pieces, and the West was weakened (KCP to Orlando, PG to Philly). The only threats behind them that you could say significantly upgraded are NO (Dejounte Murray) and Memphis (healthy JA), but I don't really trust that Ja or Zion will be on the court
