Who would've thought? Mahlon Pitney, who was known, if at all, for the Coppage v. Kansas decision and for suffering a severe stroke while still on the Court (and staying on the Court for another four months), would be someone's favorite Justice!
When Mahlon Pitney joined the Court in 1912, it marked the only configuration of the Court in which all six Justices that were appointed by President William H. Taft served together! In a way, the Court of 1912-14 was the First Taft Court in this respect.
Interesting side note about Mahlon Pitney: Had he been in good health at least five months longer (until at least January 1923), there would've been a full Court photo with Justices James McReynolds and Louis Brandeis sitting next to each other!
