    FUN FACT: This interview was recorded on nov. 7 1989. Just 2 days before the fall of Berlin wall.

    By far one of the best Zappa interviews I’ve seen, notwithstanding that they’re not talking about music per se.

      One of the reasons I shared this interview is because it showed a part of Zappa many people aren't aware of.

    Kramer...wish I never gave away my 424-CM Kramer guitar. Would have been great for 80's Zappa stuff...good interview

    The Soviet Union dissolved a few years later ('91 I think). Was Zappa getting in on the ground floor, way ahead of his time, or just heading down a dead end road? Inquiring minds need to know.

      He was diagnosed with prostate cancer just 6 months after this interview, so that kind of put a stop to stuff like this

    He was so right about military manufacturers in USSR being very good. I have some first hand experiences to confirm they were more than really good, many westerners did make good deals there.
    Lack of top end equipment was a bit troublesome although they would order things from the West or other communist or socialist states if needed.
    Any state that could make nuclear power plants back then was technically at a very high level. This doesn't mean much today, good example is US lagging behind China and maybe Russia if US chooses to put nose into their internal affairs too deep again...

    He looked so old here. Almost as old as I imagine he'd look like today, if he was still here.

      @SpaceCattttt 5 лет назад +1

      @@massapower Yes, but he looked much younger both before and after this interview. It was only in 1993 that you could really
      notice how sick he actually was.

      @@SpaceCattttt Regardless, the dude had prostate cancer and I cannot imagine what he went thru. But 1 thing for sure, Frank was a trooper and fought till the end and gave his opinions. He's sadly missed and I can just imagine what he would have done in today's crazy BS Social Media garbage! 😜

      @SpaceCattttt 5 лет назад +1

      @@massapower Yes, he was brave until the end. But I remember reading about how he used to sit and cry alone, while listening to his favorite bebop records from his youth. He suffered in silence, I suppose...

    No slight against Frank, but Id love to know if at this time he had any meetings with a young orange guy who had a few barrels full of his daddy's money that he wanted to go throw around in eastern Europe.
