Excellent video. Just what I needed so I could bind my hexagon tablemat … You are a very good teacher. You made it very clear as to what to do, and, how to do it. Thank you!

I’ve never thought you can lift your needle, (added a bit of thread to the corner turn) and start again. That extra thread loop at corner is odd to me. I guess it doesn’t effect the strength of the seam? Also, would’ve liked to have seen how you actually finished the back binding. Thx!

It doesnt effect the binding, no- this binding is only 1" wide and is hard to work with sometimes, so lifting the needle gives me an opportunity to adjust it better! :)

I’m confused did you stop a quarter of an inch away from the corner because it appeared like you sewed all the way up to the corner?

What size binding strip are you using and what is the stitch length, newbie here and I’m trying so hard to get this table topper down. I’ve already messed up trying to bind with the backing so I had to unpick my basting stitches which were just like any other stitch since I forgot to change the stitch length. Then I rip the backing fabric when I was on the very last side to be unpicked so I had to cut a couple of inches off the outside row. I’m about ready to give up on it all and this is my last attempt at making this right.

Wonderful demo…question, when you hem, do you turn up the raw hem and hand stitch? 🧐

I’m sure this question wasn’t directed at me but I thought I’d share what I’ve learned about binding sewing. I usually sew the binding on the one side, turn, press, clip and then hand sew the other side. Even when ‘stitch in the ditch’ is suggested, I am just not a fan of that because 9 times out of 10, it’s not ‘in the ditch’ on the other side. Just my 2 cents, good luck. 🍀

Yes, I turn the binding under and hand stitch :)
