  • Nick Jennison reviews Hit'n'Mix's RipX: DeepRemix-an audio editor; AI machine learning-based editing tool to separate voice, drums, bass or other instruments inside a complete mix; suitable for creating stems for DJ sets, as a tutorial tool to learn songs, for creating backing tracks, and much more.

Ironically, If I buy this software, the first thing I would do is jam along to AC/DC. It's like you made this video for me!

what do you mean by jam along to AD/DC ?

@@peggypeggy5832 I mean I would put an AC/DC cd on my computer, then use this software to mute the guitar so I could pretend to the guitarist for AC/DC

Good luck with that. I bought DeepRemix and have been pretty disappointed with the result so far. I have a feeling reviewers chose the tracks that work well, which is a bit misleading to me.

Terrific product and review. What I would have liked to have heard is what it is like taking out vocals. And also transposing the resultant backing track down a few tones for those of us who can't sing the high notes!

You can re tune and tempo. You can literally grab a section of notes and slide it up or down to change the scale. Also can change the instrument!

It is absolutely worth the $300 (the RipX DeepAudio version). I bought it when it used to be called Infinity. I knew the software had potential to be a powerful sound design tool.

When I have a recorded song, say by The Rolling Stones, I’m having a difficult time separating the piano from the guitar. Even though they say you can edit the guitar and save it on its own track who can make sense of the digital noises that used to be notes. The sounds don’t even sound familiar anymore to be able to recognize which is a guitar or the piano. It’s a lot of hodge podge and a complete mess.

I like how you mentioned And Justice For All. I wonder how well it would separate something like that?

Can you extract one single instrument, for instance, a guitar solo, as a music sheet, which could be reviewed and studied in another program such as guitar pro? That would be fantastic.

You may be able to after spending days cleaning off all the other instruments and artifacts. So far I'm extremely disappointed. Maybe it will get better with more experimenting. I may upgrade to DeepAudio to see if I can get rid of more artifacts.

@@hienvu1714How do you clean the seprated tracks?

    • @hienvu1714
      @hienvu1714 Год назад +1

So far I've tried about a dozen 60s, 70s & 80s songs and haven't had any luck at all. I'm considering spending $99 more to upgrade to DeepAudio for the "cleaning" feature. Hope I'm not just throwing more money away.
Most reviewers seem to get much better results right off the bat but I think it's because most them used their own home recordings from DAWs. I would have absolutely no reason to rip my own songs that I still have separate tracks of!

  • @Mark70609

I wish it separated the guitars better. I could hear a rhythm guitar in the track, but the software didn’t make it apparent. That’s the sort of thing that I’m looking for.
Hey Joe should have been the demo track to pull apart.

My mate used to do this in the 70s using a really good graphic equalizer and reel to reel tape recorder. He made incredible remixes and extended versions of songs he copied from records. He was an amateur DJ. The only thing this does is make it faster, but I would say it's quite a bit less accurate in separating the tracks.
