    I had been practicing this to my own realization that it can be done. I thought it was cool that you have a lesson on it. Now I'm working on the major scale as you did in your 5 best methods of it. Thanks.

      I'm the converse of your progress. I have the major pentatonic down but I get lost on the minor pentatonic, on the way back down especially.

      @@Larrymh07 Follow it on one string at a time. Then two.. three...

      @@mabblers Thank you. I know it sounds stupid but that's what happens to me. I will not only take your suggestion, I will also write out a better fretboard pattern to follow. My current one is out of proportion.

      @Larrymh07 I'll say for me. I had learned the 5 pentatonic scales first. I then did as suggested. Later, I found a found a pattern that works 3 short one fret and 2 long 2 frets starting on the root. There's also a pattern for the major that works perfectly. 3 pace long 3 strings next string one fret down two halves and a whole step. Then next string, one then one fret down and 2 half steps for two string. One set will always be out. Works in every key.

    Great vid Charlie, as always :) I'm bit too late for your lesson, learned this form old rock masters, but love the way you presented the idea of "pentatonic highway" (bit by bit). This is really, really important topic, connecting boxes flawlessly while using most of the neck. Thats why we have to know positions...

    Charlie your lessons are just amazing. I've recently watched a few videos about breaking out of the boxes and playing up and down the fretboard similar to what you describe. However no one touched on using the 2 Fret intervals as transition points or your safe advice on how to utilize ascending and descending techniques to help with phrasing. It may take some time ,however, with your lessons I think I can eventually be able to play a decent solo. A lesson on how to start a solo would be appreciated as I always have trouble starting my solos and I'm always playing catch up with the progression as it passes me by.

      Really glad the videos are helping you Ken! I’ll put some thought into a video on how to structure a solo - thanks for the suggestion 🎸🎶🔥🎶🎸

    Another goodun, my only wish is it was as simple as Charlie is making it look. Well actually I dont really because half the fun is using these concepts to help your playing improve. Thanks a lot, weekend sorted.

    • @CharlieLongGuitar
      @CharlieLongGuitar  4 месяца назад +2

      Yes he did! And, if someone loves that music and wants to copy Albert King licks I'm all for it. It's all about getting enjoyment out of playing. Other folks might want to move around the neck a little more. That's what makes the world go around!

    This lesson makes the difference between us wanna be's and all of our favorite guitarists. They know how to connect all these boxes without even thinking. Then maybe there are no more boxes. Just the entire fretboard like the author says. Knowing all the boxes first might be a prerequisite for this lesson. What do you think author? I'm going to work on this.

    • @CharlieLongGuitar
      @CharlieLongGuitar  4 месяца назад +1

      Absolutely! That’s why I talk about learning the rules before you can bend or break them. Start by making little moves between 2 boxes…before long it becomes part of your playing!!
