Brilliant talk. I as a fellow immigrant from Korea and also having experienced a lot of childhood abuse/trauma can relate to the part of self sabotage and anger that is expressed through trading. Also, my trading improved once I stopped focusing on and trying to make money but realizing that money is a tool in life and so is trading just a tool. Keep up the good work!

I'm so grateful to have found your channel and a glimpse inside the struggles you've overcome. I am new to trading (1month) and should have done more homework first, but have been studying like there is no tomorrow since. You are inspiring and have given me hope at 52 years old to know there is a possibility of retiring as a thriving individual, instead of hoping to have enough to survive just to exist. I just blew up a small account, it was small but I had doubled it and really felt I was getting somewhere. It was a shock to the system and took me a few days to start thinking objectively again. This video came at the right time for me.
All the things you think were negatives are all the reasons we follow you. You are attractive, articulate, funny especially with the delivery of your jokes, skilled, talented and very entertaining to watch. And you do it all in a second language which is incredible to me. For those trolls who have sent mean comments about why don’t you change, well I hope you never do.
I cannot figure out how you had the courage to come out and speak as you did. I do believe I have just seen one of the most courageous things anybody could possibly do. You already did it. My heart goes out to you. I was brought to Canada at two years old from England. I cannot tell you how hard that was. England was cultured. Canada is strong. It was hard. That was 1958.
Dealing with the self is something I credit trading. When I saw trading as something permanent my whole approach changed. I wanted to make what Iam in the market 😊

Funny that you said you used to smash your $5 mouse, I am missing two doors in my house. One of the hardest things to deal with is the frustration with yourself, when you keep making the same mistakes over and over. You have to let that frustration out on something, preferably something inanimate 😉
Non-traders really can't understand that the complexities of trading go far beyond just some colored bars on a chart.

Good take... I have been daytrading the last 4 years. I was working before so it was really going well for me and I was consistently profitable. Since May, I quit my job to become fulltime day trader and oooooooh boy, the switch was and is still hard!!!
I do reckon that this a highly challenging and demanding line of work. And it makes you feel lonely and desperate some time. I used to have 2 friends of mine who were trading the same instruments and both stopped after losing all. I am still struggling with trading nowadays but i keep faith to get back to cruising mode like I used to before...
You are so strong and such an inspiration Shay! Keep shining and learning.

The stock market has consumed my life for the past 3yrs too. I have lost our entire lives savings. I feel so hopeless, helpless & depressed. I got osteoporosis from sleep deprivation & lack of sun/exercise/vitamins. My teeth and hair started falling out horribly the past 18mos.. I just found your channel and I love your honesty and ability to laugh through your journey. I can't wait to watch more of your videos and see if there is a light at the end of the tunnel! sometimes I deal with the thought, if I trade and earn enough to leave my fulltime how fulfilled with I feel? at least at my job I have human interaction and co-workers and a company that does good work in this world. if I trade full time, sure the money will be great but how fulfilling with it feel. even so, as long as that financial freedom leads to more opportunities in life to do good work for others i think it will be worth it. thanks for this talk. Shay, this made me cry. I've immigrated twice in my life. First time at 19 to the UK, and second time here to the states. I know how difficult it is to adapt to a different culture/language and 11 yrs would have been a very difficult transition for anyone to make. Everything mentioned in this video is so true. I’m sure all successful traders have similar stories from struggling in the beginning with the market, ourselves, and our overall lives. I am nowhere near done with my journey but am currently experiencing some of the things mentioned. Watching these kinds of videos help me realize that what I’m going through is normal and there is light at the end of the tunnel. Currently consistently profiting nicely but again no where near done. I cried my eyes out the second half of your talk. I'm reinventing my life at 57. I'm reading and listening to everything I can. I feel I have enough knowledge to begin. However, I'm going to make 100 trades on paper trade before I make my first real trade. I have a well paying job that can fund my trading. I'm very conservative in many ways but not afraid to take educated risks. I follow you and a few other mentors. Thank you for what you do and who you are. Don't stop.

This video is inspirational. It is amazing how we can get into something for a little extra money but it can turn into a very emotional journey into ourselves. Only the best traders are aware of, and in control of their emotions. Interesting, I think trading is a career that really dials into our emotions and our history, if we're brave enough and strong enough to take that journey.
The lessons you cover in general are really great but today's video is EASILY the MOST important video people need to watch. It is SO HARD to keep our emotions in check and identify when they are altering our behavior.
