    On mine I used a hydraulic ram to push the knuckle back just a bit more to get the half shaft out. Didn't do any damage and I didn't have to unbolt the pumpkin or the camber bolt.

    Thanks for posting! For all you guys doing this at home do yourself a favor and pull the rear diff and change the axle and yoke seals. You don’t need to pull the diff bracket on the drivers side (painfully because of the gas tank and “mushroom” washer) also the yoke is connected to the 4wd clutch assembly so it doesn’t set the lash on the ring and pinion gear set which makes things easier.

    good stuff . But you can get the axle out with the 2 links and shock unbolted, by prying the hum away with a bar. You don't need to unbolt the differential.
    The trick is to use a grinder and cut 1" off the end of the axle thread before removing the nut.. because its longer than it needs to be.

    What would be the harm in using a 3 arm puller pushing against the axle EDIT: tried and failed, it just pushes the cv axle out.

    I need to replace my brake dust shield for my emergency brakes it’s completely rusted out but I can’t get to those Alan bolts this is the only video that shows how but I was wondering how did you get the hub back on and would I need to replace anything like the wheel bearing if I’m just taking the hub off to get the shield off .... someone please help or suggest another video that I can’t find

    • @roger5638
      @roger5638 Год назад

      When you have gone that far, you might just as well change the hub and bearing with new. The extra cost is not that much and you have stressed the bearing by pulling the hub off.

      @@TommyZTrains no problem. No rust is a plus. if you can remove the whole arm you have the ability to replace the bushing and camber bolt as needed. Mine were frozen in place and I had to torch them out the camber bolts were maybe 45 bucks from rockauto

    If your rear hub bearing is bad will that cause 4 wheel to not work properly?

    • @dpms1950
      @dpms1950 4 года назад +1

      Possibly. If 4×4 isn't working sometimes it's an abs sensor. I've had nothing but trouble with abs sensors so I ran wires from the rear end to the dash and installed a switch to turn on the 4×4. A bit of a shade tree move but it at least works when I need it now.

    Just did both sides of my 09 escape big help. One thing I'll note is make sure you put the brakes back on before pressing in the hub. The Drum brake shield won't fit over the pressed in hub
