  • Oh my goodness I couldn't even film a video without things changing before I could edit and post it. I try to go over what has been happening with Shutterstock and AI generated images. This is the best update to my knowledge of what is happening, what to expect, and my plans on what I will do in the meantime while it gets sorted.
It seems to be a will they won't they kind of sitch at the moment.
I talk about copyright hiccups, what kinds of issues are being looked at in regards to AI generated art, and my own opinions on what I intend to do, or not do.

6:36 maybe you already know it but for those who don't, it does exist! it is called Dreambooth. For now i think it just works on Stable Diffusion, but with how fast this technology goes i think they will add a beta of that dreambooth model in the next months. Its fascinating and scary at the same time! xD

Every image I tried to upload I get "Illustration has rasterization issues such as blurriness and/or artifacting."
All I'm doing is upscaling x2 and converting to jpg....is that related to their recent policy change?

    • @VincentValentino

i got the same, then reduced the size and made it sharper. testing it again today

Upscale x4 on tinywow.com gave me good results. I don't think they would decline and say it's rasterization if it's not. That issue is completely separate from copyright issues

Those enraged artists copy others, get inspired. They make things mostly made before or in someone's else style. That is conscious copying and AI is trained on billion photos so it is not any copyright infiringment at all. My opinion.

All of this is scary for me as an artist but most promots are similar, just imagine,a rat in a hat many will have that idea. The simpler the prompt is "taken" ot a word where is the link mut of what you xan come up with. I do not see it it us trick. I think that it eould be ok to generate elements but not sure about people selling as they come. You cannot copyright ideaa you copyright results, you can copyright the tect but tgen add a word and it is different. It is tricky

It is definitely new territory for the legal system to figure out. I'm interested in seeing what happens.

I think Ai is more creative as it is not just typing a prompt , the 1st thing is the prompt ,if you are using your own prompt its coming from an idea from your own creative mind ,would you agree?.if you just take a photo using your camera or smart phone , the way you get that prompt is just by pressing the button on your phone and to me that is not very creative just one click on your camera also not very creative. So when you think about it trial and error on the prompts and getting the right prompt from taking your creative thoughts from your own mind is much more work than just clicking your shutter once on your camers or pressing the button on your smartphone camera . What are your thoughts and from the subscribers. thanks for your nice video.

Yes I do agree there's a lot of creative choices that get made in the prompt. It can include things like colour scheme, subject matter, style, composition etc... it requires more creative planning than some abstract art forms. It seems some people don't see it that way. I guess it depends on how detailed the prompt is.

@@WildEmpress ok, but...what do you think about the artists that created the images that are used by this AI? i read an interview to a digital creator that many are trying to emulate in their prompts (to the point they even quote "by *the artist name*) and he was getting really frustrated by this in many ways. I see an issue there, since as an artist, you can't opt out, your work is out there for infinite random use.

@@alejandrapoeta I can see both sides of the fence here because before midjourney I have also created A LOT of my own content. However, with the exception of maybe a blind artist, every person who creates is inspired by the things they see, even if only subconsciously. Humans do not filter between being inspired by a modern living artist, a classic painting, a weird pile of rocks on our walk. Public domain copyright...our brain absorb it all. Essentially that's what midjourney is doing as well it's just better at zeroing in on something or someone. My opinion is that asking for midjourney not to prompt the person is like asking the person to unsee and deprogram their subconscious of their inspirations. That said, it is just kinda rude to knowingly try to emulate someone that's made it publicly clear they don't like it. I personally use artist references who's works are in public domain. Or mixing artists styles so it looks unique and not a ripoff version. Lol my answer is yes, both 😅

@@WildEmpress I hear you, you are a creative person yourself and I know your exploration with AI is very personal and, may I say it again, creative. But, and this is a big BUT for me, not all people is gonna be this respectful of others artists work, I would actually think a big chunk of people will mostly copycat with no remorse or care for any artist, as long as they can gain something from this. I guess I'm not that optimistic about this whole thing. But, anyways, just like everything else, it's gonna be about rethinking roles, boundries, rights etc.

@@alejandrapoeta you're right I'm not overly optimistic about others choices as well, I always just try to encourage respectful behavior.

Has Red Bubble openly accepted AI images to be sold on their website? I am afraid they will change their mind like other places.
    Thanks for the video.

My images are AI and in my opinion look Ai though I don't think I tagged them as AI, I recieved an email this morning referring me to another department of shutterstock to contact, I'm waiting on a response from them... it seems Shutterstock is not sure what they are doing.
