    I think that’s probably the ideal top kayak speed. Pretty cool.

      I will be posting my review of it next! And a side by side comparison. There are some differences for sure. One is cheaper and one has a ton more technology and built in safety features which is why it is more. Both are great options though!

    One quick question for the battery charger how many amps does it charge at?

    • @FishingCPA-yf3oz
      @FishingCPA-yf3oz 2 месяца назад +1

      I went and checked out the charger its a 180watt charger that sorry to say is a big disappointment. Thats gonna take overnight to charge when depleted.

    nice video thanks for sharing. i just installed mine and had a few issues. I noticed that you removed the two small screws/pins that are on top of the swing plate. The bracket at the bottom of the swing plate hits these screws and restricts the turning radius of the motor. Have you noticed any issues with removing the screws/pins? the directions indicate that you are supposed to install a clamp on the shaft immediately below the swing plate. it makes no sense to me as to why, but i noticed that you did not install yours that way. finally, were you able to get the throttle to link up to the app?

      Hey! Thanks! I did remover the stops and it creates no issue. I did it on the older motors too. I am sure they don’t recommend it, but I always do it. I also see no issue putting the bracket at the bottom. As far as the app linking goes…one does and the other is awaiting a software upgraded that seemed to not be available yet. The one that works is TorqTrac, which honestly is the one that matters more to me. Allowing to see where I am on a map and track my routes etc. hope that helps!

    Going to be real interested in your compare this to Bixpy and especially Newport. A NK300 with a 36v 55Ah LiTime battery is half the price of this (1550$). I’d be stressed to find 1400$ of value here vs the NK300.
    Please give me detailed reasons why you would want this instead I am genuinely interested to hear arguments for it.

      My next test is the NK300 with a 36v 30ah which should give you 1 hour at full throttle, similar to the Torqeedo. Then the vs video.

      The pro-torqeedo folks will point out that Newport is China made vs German made torqeedo. However, I'm not sure where/how they are made ever since Torqeedo sold out to Yamaha. I have the 1103 and it's been tough, especially since I beat the snot out of it weekly on my local shoalie rivers. I like the idea that this new model has the removable/higher quality bottom fin. Either way, I agree that it would be hard to justify that extra cost.

    Over $3K for that motor! My NK300 was only about $1200 plus another $800 for the 36V 100Ah battery. You need to test the NK300. I was able to get up to 6 MPH in an Old Town AP360 on the Puget Sound without my AP motor.

      @roadtripangler  Месяц назад

      The NK300 is a great motor for the price but it doesn’t have the technology or safety features the Torqeedo does so it is not an apples to apples comparison. That being said I just dropped the NK300 test!

    would it work to slide this motor instead of the mirage drive with a DIY.. or the motor size is too big to slide through that place?
    i did the DIY with torqeedo 1HP and it worked well.
    basically my question is regarding the actual size of the case of the motor if it will go through the space of mirage drive on my pro angler 14 .. as I prefer the motor to be installed at the middle and not at the back of the kayak.

      I don’t have access to a Hobie to check but it think it would be a bit to big to fit through it.

      From everything I’ve seen the torqueedo is just overpriced. I would imagine Newport is killing them on sales

      Very good explanations and descriptions. Good job and I’ll be watching for the additional videos. Also… is that the trailer you haul your kayak on over large distances? I have a hobie PA and Hobie does not recommend transporting or storing the kayaks on a flat surface.

    • @roadtripangler
      @roadtripangler  Месяц назад

      I do haul it on it but I have not had a lot of experience with Hobie so I can’t speak to them. Trick is not leaving the straps tight all the time and not over tightening them when traveling.

    3 grand is steep. I feel like other systems are closer to 2 grand including battery.

    • @roadtripangler
      @roadtripangler  Месяц назад +1

      This is true, but the tech is not the same. No GPS with accurate speed and range data and your battery would not be sealed nor would it have as many safety features. Not sure what happens if it gets submerged on an open battery but I have dropped the Torqeedo ones in the water and they still work. It is just not apples to apples. I am not saying the others are bad at all and I am working on a review now, but they are just not the same.

    The only reason I will not this motor cause you can’t use your on brand battery. You have to use thier motor

    • @roadtripangler
      @roadtripangler  2 месяца назад +1

      For sure that is something to consider. There are some benefits to that like having accurate speed and range data that you get because their battery has built in gps and it is way more sealed and protected around water than any other off the shelf battery, but you pay for the added tech and durability.

    Torqeedo is overpriced

    • @roadtripangler
      @roadtripangler  12 дней назад

      I don’t know. I feel like it is priced where it should be for what it is. There is nothing with the same tech and higher quality components, right down to the rare earth magnets, to even compare it to. You can go cheaper but you are getting a cheaper product so it isn’t apples to apples at all. Not saying the cheaper options are not good, but they are not built the same.
