    Hello folks!
    Tonight for tea I made this absolutely delicious savoury mince in the slow cooker :) Time saving, energy saving and people pleasing! Perfect on it’s own with a chunk of crusty bread or even with vegetables on the side…leftovers can make a great pie filling too :)
    Everything I used will also be listed below,
    -Cheryl x
    ______________________________________________________________________________________________________
    What I used - Serves 4
    500g (17.6 oz) Potatoes - sliced or cubed
    450g (15.8 oz) Good quality minced beef
    1 Medium onion - finely diced
    300g (10.5 oz) Carrots - diced
    300g (10.5 oz) Swede - diced
    150g (5 oz) Frozen garden peas
    1 Teaspoon garlic puree or minced garlic
    1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
    1 Tablespoon Tomato puree
    2 Beef stock cubes - I used OXO cubes
    1 Tablespoon dried parsley
    Salt & Pepper to taste
    500ml (17.5 oz) Water - you may need more if yours is looking a little dry towards the end of cooking.

    Hi Cheryl, Lovely easy winter warmer which I enjoy often. One thing I do differently...
    Before I add the frozen peas, I blanch them in boiling water for a minute. Then just drain off the water and add the peas to the pot. It just saves the Pot having to recover the temperature it will loose when you add frozen peas, or any other small frozen mixed veg into the pot.

    I'm from Canada and my mom and dad were born in Scotland. My mom used to make mince all the time and I loved it . This is the first time I've seen a recipe for it . Unless you are from Scotland or parents were no one here knows what I'm talking about. I will be watching your podcast from now on for maybe some stoveys.

    • @ajaguar27
      @ajaguar27 Год назад +1

      General rule of thumb seems to be half an hour of pressure cooking for a slow cooker recipe that's 5 hours on high. Was just looking into it myself! I also saw the recommendation that you cook the meat first then add the vegetables partway through so they don't disintegrate completely by the end.

    • @G88442
      @G88442 Год назад

      @@ajaguar27 Thank you very much.
      Possibly it could be pressure cooked for 20 mins, and add the peas & carrots and pressure cook for 10 more.
      You can brown meat in the philips all in one pot, and then add in the other ingredients and pressure cook.
