- We went up the mountain in the GR86, but it was wet - stay tuned for that video: the very next day, it was dry so here we were again, and this time we were able to stretch her out a bit more.
This is the manual 6-speed version the costs RM295k OTR without insurance.
It was fun, of course, with the tail hanging out just a wee bit in a couple of places - see if you can spot where!

I like how uncle edited rear camera recording into the irvm.
That's a really nice touch, the foot cam at the car's infotainment screen, and rear cam at the rear mirror!

I am sure you are loving it. Yes, the auto is a small sacrifice for practicality, and it is just as fun.

Super effortless cornering. Incredible to see. I watch so many cars this is one of the easiest car to corner. Good FR cars. No understeer at all, but must manage oversteer.

Uncle did you observe any low oil pressure during right hand turns under braking? (IDK if the displays show the oil pressure or not)
because currently a common issue most people face tracking GR86s are oil starvations (lots of forum posts and videos by the owners)
Has Toyota Made any changes/adjustments for it yet cause it seems to be serious...
Everything was okay during the drive. There is no oil pressure gauge, but there is a light. It did not ignite at all.

The BRZ is similar, and yes, it could be better; I have driven both, and yes, the BRZ did feel more planted. However I also noticed the GR86 test car was shod on PS5's and I think that was a deviation from the PS4's.
The engine was like it never give up but only one left side of headphone can be hear😅

Hi uncle, have you ever considered to use shades (because of the sun glare) or is there any safety reason you don't wear one? Thank you.
Better not to wear shades because it is very early in the day and sometimes there are shadow areas and we need unimpeded sight. The sun glare area is quite familiar to me, and even shades will mot help.

Hello Uncle, is the gear ratio shorter compared to the gt86? I feel like uncle had to go gear 4 a lot more often or am I imagining it? Also, in uncle's opinion is the gt86 more tail happy than the gr86 at similar speeds?
I think perhaps we could achieve higher speeds due tp the extra torque, so we could go into 4th more often. The GR86 is definitely faster than the 2.0 GT86, and does feel more tail happy, but perhaps from the increased torque.

Depends on what you want. I would take the GR any day
Since GR86 and GR Corolla almost similar in price, which would you choose just purely based on fun driving experience?
There is a RM60k difference in the price. Of course the GR Corolla will be a bit more agile, but the GR86 would be more fun because it is a bit more tail-happy. For a person wanting to learn car control tue GR 86 would be more appropriate.
The car I wish I able to afford. Hopefully by the time I could they still exist

The BRZ is more comfortable, RM45k cheaper and it's mostly a Subaru car anyway. The 86 has the pop history and I think more handsome grill. Your personal choice, please?
The price difference is a definite pull. Yes, basically both are the same car, so it finally comes down to brand and aesthetics.

Each one has its own degree of fun. I think the Miata is lighter so the power to weight ratio is similar. Both are fun to drive, but perhaps the Miata is more chuckable.

Genting needs to do a lot more to maintain the road now due to massive projects developing at the area. The trucks are damaging the road which in turn damages our car 😢

The brz next ! I have heard that the GR86 tend to slide its tail out more often than the brz
i heard that too. It's due to suspension tuning. Toyota wants to have little difference with subaru as there is a price gap between those two models. That's what I know so far. I hope, he can compare in future
Uncle YS. i have a dilemma. to get a 2021/2022 GR86 or a 2017/2018 Fl GT86 and spend the extra cash on mods.
Why bother - the GR86 is faster without the mods. Keeping it stock has its merits. No meed to worry about reliability

video at 4:53 .. Why are all the cars slow down ? especially that Green color Mini Cooper , very selfish driver !! and looks like though he is driving the most expensive car in the world !! Some drivers are like that , they cannot see other driving fast on the road , so the only way making them relieve is to HOGGING the fast lane AKA purposely accelerate slowly ..
There was nothing there, just a bunch of people whom I think were not sure where to go, or not sure of the corner. The video was not edited at that point.
