What apart cheap apartment windows that are cheap tempered glass? We can’t use steel wool #0000 on them because they scratch immediately. What would you recommend for those types of windows?
Thank you SO much for posting this!!! We have an irrigation system in our yard and add that with the wind that is often present, hard water stains have been a part of my window cleaning frustration for 10 years now. I've tried numerous things, all with LOTS of scrubbing, but none have ever removed all of the stains. This was SO easy!! I followed your directions and without much scrubbing all of the hard water stains are completely gone for the first time ever!! I can't thank you enough!!
Did you have any issues with the cleaner on your siding? I have one window with really bad water spots but I’m worried about the stucco around it getting ruined!
Same here, hard water stains on windows that were probably caused by overspray/wind drift from our irrigation system (extremely hard well water), This worked like magic! Our nearby Lowes didn't carry The Works but they had Zep Acidic Toilet Bowl Cleaner, which worked perfectly!

We were doing a major remodel and I decided I was finally going to tackle my hard water-stained windows. (It was really bad). Walmart was out of The Works, so I used Lysol Bowl cleaner instead. It works just as well! You can literally see the deposits sizzle while as it is dissolving. Thank you again!

That stuff is just expensive HCl. 9.5% according to the MSDS. Just buy a gallon of muriatic acid from lowes and delude it to 9.5%, and you don't have to deal with the colorful impurities. Thats by mass, not volume. Also, keep a bucket of sodium carbinate solution (baking soda). You can then clean your tools in it, and neutralize the acid.
Is there a muriatic acid dilution that would be the equivalent of the toilet bowl cleaner? I'm more concerned about the other chemicals that come with the cleaner. Also, a gallon of pool acid costs about the same as one bottle of works
Would this work for water etching that forms on the inside of double windows? Im not really into spending 300 dollars to replace the glass for some water stains
You can do this at home with disposable everything. Even a cloth to wipe it on with. Squeegees and cleaner tools that need to be rinsed off in the yard or sink is a no go. Wondering if this toilet cleaner can be used to clean glass doors in a travertine (sealed) tiled shower or will it eat the natural stone if it gets on it?
I think those "hard water stains " are mineral deposits. that product any many like it do nothing to hard water stains in the southwest part of the country. im curious what is your TDS where you live?
Could you do this on a shower door? Because I’ve tried barkeepers friend and the dawn/vinegar combo, CLR and even using a brush on a drill but those hard water stains are staying. And the glass is only about 10 yrs old. Previous owner wasn’t much for cleaning. 😩
well yes but...the fumes will knock you out! This is terrible stuff for a shower door application! I couldnt stay long enough to scrub...had to rinse and run!!
You could try a paste called Elbow Greez. I buy it at my local restaurant supply store. It’s non-toxic biodegradable and works really well on a number of surfaces including glass.
HYDROCHLORIC ACID - caution, use rubber gloves and eye protection, can't be too careful with this stuff -- hydrochloric acid is main reason this works - also be sure to rinse windows thoroughly with water hose and rinse where-ever the solution drips. Rinse water is cheap - window casing are not
@@rickmcdowell9550 thank you, I found an alternative, using Hydrogen Peroxide with dish soap to help it cling to the surface I'm cleaning, easier and less dangerous to use

Thanks for the video! I can't get this product by my home. The main ingredient is Hydrochloric Acid so I am going to try Sno Bowl which has similar ingredients.
I have problem to get this brand in Asia. Anyone had idea where can place this from online platform ?
Wondering if this toilet cleaner can be used to clean glass doors in a travertine (sealed) tiled shower or will it eat the natural stone if it gets on it?
I wouldn't. Just use steel wool and soap
Won't this remove the E-coating on energy windows?
The Low E coating is between the panes. The inside on the outside pane (aka Cold Pane) to be specific.
is there another brand we can also use?
Does this work for car windows?
I think those "hard water stains " are mineral deposits. that product any many like it do nothing to hard water stains in the southwest part of the country. im curious what is your TDS where you live?
We have locations in Minneapolis and Phoenix. This is 90% effective in both locations.
Will steel wool scratch the window?
Where do you buy that type of steel wool?
Most home improvement stores will have this #0000 steel wool in the paint section.
Could you do this on a shower door? Because I’ve tried barkeepers friend and the dawn/vinegar combo, CLR and even using a brush on a drill but those hard water stains are staying. And the glass is only about 10 yrs old. Previous owner wasn’t much for cleaning. 😩
My problem exactly. .... I’ve tried everything
Oven cleaner works well on shower doors in most cases
well yes but...the fumes will knock you out! This is terrible stuff for a shower door application! I couldnt stay long enough to scrub...had to rinse and run!!
You could try a paste called Elbow Greez. I buy it at my local restaurant supply store. It’s non-toxic biodegradable and works really well on a number of surfaces including glass.
what is the main ingredient in the cleaning solution?
is it Citric Acid?
HYDROCHLORIC ACID - caution, use rubber gloves and eye protection, can't be too careful with this stuff -- hydrochloric acid is main reason this works - also be sure to rinse windows thoroughly with water hose and rinse where-ever the solution drips. Rinse water is cheap - window casing are not

thank you, I found an alternative, using Hydrogen Peroxide with dish soap to help it cling to the surface I'm cleaning, easier and less dangerous to use
Don't worry about rinsing the toilet bowl cleaner off of the siding of the house just your tools.
Bru I tried and it and it didn’t really work. Maybe cus the customers windows were old
steel wool wont scratch the window?...and thanks!!
