The first part of this village quest was so interesting. Being stuck without divine powers and exploring this somber location stark-naked as no more than a wolf was the coolest twist up to this point.
It's one of those imperfect masterpieces, like No More Heroes, Mad World, and most Metal Gear games, where all the flaws add up to give the game a unique charm and make it an even better experience for those who are not frustrated by them.
Kusa Village is my favorite town in the game, particularly because of the distant, hand drawn mountains you can see in the distance coupled with this soothing ambience.
this town's theme has never really struck me as being about the curse at all! i felt it described how the town is still strange, even when normal. Taka Pass is the turning point where Okami just starts getting weird and sort of otherworldly, and this town is the first step into it.
I wonder if everyone who's saying "Man this music is so eerie and creepy!!" listened past 2:45, because that part onward is my favorite track from this game, period.
This game is absolute GOAT material in every way including the OST. So evocative and transportive. I come back to this game again and again and I think I always will. The best Zelda Nintendo never made. It’s a tragedy there haven’t been more made (never played that DS one) but we have this wonderful and endlessly charming game to appreciate forever.
@@anonymousalien7417 Okamiden, which I just checked and it actually came out on the DS, not the Wii. It’s kind of a follow up but not a proper sequel from what I understand.
I really liked Kusa village. It's a cute town that's easy to get around in. I liked the garden that the girl kept watering to make flowers grow... because I got all kinds of food when I chopped them down!
I really love how this starts off rather eerie and odd, but as you continue to listen it warms and brightens. At 0:48 the song is almost creepy, but by 2:50 it becomes far livelier
Anyone else got super surprised/confused when they saw their inkpots empty out and brush techniques fail when entering this village? Amaterasu got stripped of her weapons and I seriously asked myself if I was supposed to be here yet.
I watched a playthrough of Okami years and years ago, long before I got to play it. I remembered very little about it since it had been so long since I had seen any gameplay of it. The Let's Play was by Chuggaaconroy, and Kusa Village was literally the only place I vaguely recognized because I remembered the moment of "wolf kung fu" that made me laugh when I first saw it and stuck in my head for all those years. So yeah, I remembered those battles without your weapons and ink. It was pretty nostalgic and made me smile the whole way even though the village was cursed. ruclips.net/video/l67ASxnGW4M/видео.html
I love how in the beginning it's so still a representation of the divine wind not blowing then it picks up as if the city has sprang back to life .. amazing
I always loved how the music changed once it got later in the day. Sometimes I would redraw the sun just so the day lasts longer! Lol. This theme & Kusa Village will always be one of my favorite parts of the game. Along with many other locations! Lmao.
Missing No It's actually 4/4. I can see why you'd think it's 11/8, because of that instrument that seems to be playing in half notes. They're actually 16th notes with two 16th notes in between each. Here, I think this visualization could help: | O - - O | - - O - | - O - - | O - - O | - - O - | - O - - | O - - - | - - - -| Here are eight mesures of the main pattern. The "-" represent 16th notes while the O's represent the notes the instrument's playing. The "|" just separate 4 16th nots into 8 sections to help you visualize it in 4/4 timing. :) Hope this helps!
Sam Wesolowski you blew my mind with this one fam. I tapped it out and you are correct. However I still think it’s easier to follow if I treat the marimba like eighth notes and look at it like 21/16 (or 5/4 + 1/16). At least until the song starts changing. At any rate I love this song
This place was a total, "Oh, my God, no..." of sadness when I first came. The plants were dying...Ammy was rendered powerless...it was windless...I really felt bad for them. (Though the powerless part was actually kinda-sorta pretty cool.) Great music, though ^_^
I think that was because the sky would never reflect the time. The music only goes to the "second" version (as categorized in Presents from Issun) when it's about midday in-game. Once the Day of Darkness occurs, everything's dark, so the music is kind of... stunted?
@@Masckerdoom I know, but the changed song is still melancholic and otherworldly somehow. Like things never really quite got back to normal since. Which is interesting.
@glassmoonwolf the canine warriors building isnt the only place were the sky brigths up. that river in agatha forest the bath room and the bamboo garden in the sparrow clan (im not sure that is the name xd)
@109191378326017772532 what? lavender town is this obnoxious, high pitched cacophony. how could a beautiful tune like this remind of you that awful noise?

Let's be honest, Kung Fu Amaterasu was great.

I love how people still love this game!
Its perfect so....huh?! Even this song which would be fluff in any other 🎮

Even in 2020!
This game's a masterpiece
Bruh I want another one so bad like Okami and Okamiden were incredible! I wish they sold better :(
Kusa Village is my favorite town in the game, particularly because of the distant, hand drawn mountains you can see in the distance coupled with this soothing ambience.
For some reason, this track reminds me to The Princess Mononoke.
Okami is one of the most golden masterpieces of all times in videogames industry
I thought the same thing!
Both of them have an magnificent soundtrack. I think those soundtracks gives a mythical japan vibes
_both of them have wolves haha_
Paws down agree.

I agree! When it first starts it does sound eerie but as it goes on it’s not that scary.

ikr, it seems so cheerful once it picks up. a lot like aristocratic qtr
me too!! this is one of my favorite village ost in okami!
That part is so Tenchu-esque.
I like how it squishes together and eerie, beautiful, and cheerful themes into one track of music.
@Sami that part never fails to give me chills, in a good way.

Just like the wind, sends shivers down your spine!
Perfect fit for a village that's themed on wind :3
yesss, even im shivering now hearing this! love this theme so much
Love this part of the game
Kusanagi Village. One of my favourite parts of the game.
The Bianco Hills of Okami. And that's why I love it.
This is probably my favorite town/village of the game. :P It's just so cool!
This tune has been stuck in my head over 24 h..
And I don't remember the last time I played Ōkami
goddam you time signature

i love this part
I love this track in kusa and it made the moon cave more tolerable. its peaceful and a little sad and lonely too
calm, cold, dark and shady to happy and sunny
That's why I would purposefully play the game up until that part and then just go do whatever the heck I wanted.
I spent almost an hour hear because I couldn't find my way around. So damn dark...
best part at 2:45 starts
As good as this song is, it just seems unfitting once you rid the town of the darkness but the song still sounds so eerie in my opinion.
Uh that's why the song changes

2:52.... It reminds me of Super Paper Mario.... It's beautiful!

SAMEEEE!
Reminds me of Assassin's Creed 1...
@Tenshikahaku That's what video game music is supposed to do! That's why I love it!
This sounds like Santalune Forest in Pokemon Y for some reason
isnt it creepy tht the music still sounds a little cursed after you free the place?
Anyone?
Why can't I live in Kusa Village? Just to live in such a peaceful village with the wind at my back... ^-^
I want to live in there too
I wish I lived in Princess Fuse's house. It's really nice. Sure, it needs a little more furnishings, but it's in a great location! :D -brick'd-
@glassmoonwolf the canine warriors building isnt the only place were the sky brigths up. that river in agatha forest the bath room and the bamboo garden in the sparrow clan (im not sure that is the name xd)
I never noticed that... :O
Oh, oh, wanna hear a cool fact? Kusa can mean "grass" or "rot" in Japanese! I've commented so many times on this video...
I love this! :D
2:18 that bit reminds me of Diablo
I love this city theme, especially when it's right around 3:00
Princess Fuse's house is the only place not affected by the day of darkness. Just go there and see.
love it
0:00-2:53 best part
i don't know if it's my headphones but i swear there's a note missing.
The breakdown at 3:52 is pivital...I use to play this song every morning before I went to work...lol

It starts to sound like a ringtone at 2:53

At 4:19, it sounded almost like Metroid for a moment. XD
Kusa village was alright I mean it was a nice concept. They could have at least made the music a bit happier and the village brighter!

Not that creepy and diabolical level
Nowhere near creepy enough.
