Some good action shots I was the loco cleaner on Sir Keith Park that day and I noticed in the thumbnail for the video posing for a photo with my crew for the day. Many thanks for visiting hope you come back soon and keep up the good content!
What an excellent day a big thanks to Spa Valley for putting the gala on, and a massive thanks to Lawrie and the team for taking us all with them on this adventure
I loved that shot of the L&Y tank in the dark with the sparks coming out of the chimney, the glow of the fire in the cab windows, and the dim yellow lights in the coaches- You could almost feel like you were back in the twilight years of BR steam.
No way you were there, I was there the whole time and didn’t see you! Brilliant day out, really enjoyable. You should pay a visit to the Swanley new barn railway, I love it there too. Keep being awesome!
Wow what a great video from Lawrie. It was nice to see 2 Engine's from "UP NORTH" out & about on Southern Rails. Here's to the next episode of " Chasing Dinosaurs".
Nice to see Sir Keith in action. It used to be a resident at the Severn Valley Railway for a few years. Some great shots of the locomotives running there.
The locomotives, the rolling stock, the countryside, the sounds--simply stunning. I only regret I could not experience the steamer smells. Thanks so much for sharing this video! Cheers from Wisconsin.
The tender converted Austerity has to be one of the most wonderful looking things. It just works. definitely better then what has been done to that one Austerity to turn it into Thomas
Yeah. I had that problem. When I last filmed 60163 Tornado at the GCR. The ground was really slippy. And my shoes was covered in mud. You're not the only one Lawrie.
Looking at the weather, you must have visited on the Sunday. I was there on the Saturday, and for most of the day the weather was indeed grim. Still a bloody good time all the same :)
Excellent video of the Spa Valley Railway Winter Steam Up event Lawrie 👍👍 I was there during the day and I really enjoyed the event. I will be seeing the L&Y Class 23 in action on the 12th & 13th February.
Even though I already know they do this it still always surprises me the British steam engines just use little oil lamps pretty much to just say what type of train and not a large light in the front and rear to actually light the track in whatever direction your traveling. I’m so used to every here in the US having large bright lights in them instead of only little class lights, can’t even imagine what it would be like to try and run a train in essentially complete darkness
I just got myself a peak design capture camera clip to help with clambering around. Basically, it is an arca-swiss mount point that you can use to attach your camera to a shoulder strap or onto your belt. Looks like this might help you.
If you find a footpath map, that'll lead you to most of them. The level crossing before Eridge Station leads to a whole variety of shots, the road near high rocks station, and then the long footpath that runs through a farm from Groombridge
There’s something special about a steam loco standing at a platform at night 😊
I'm indeed very pleased you made a video here! I infact voulenteer there!
Super railway!
Many thanks for a most entertaining video Lawrie.
You're most welcome!
That was great. Me and my twin boys very much enjoyed watching.
Pleased to hear it!

Wonderful video :)
Thank you very much!
Nice video LLM the last shot of BB departing was excellent even got a bit of Bullied wheel slip!
Yes it did!

Excatly! I almost didn't try shooting it, but I'm very glad that I did!

Thank you very much! Sorry we didn't bump into each other!

I saw it there many a time!

Really enjoyed being there for their winter steam up
It was a super event!
It was a super event!
Excellent video!! I was there that day and thought I saw you somewhere along the line. And turns out I did. Was a great day at the railway
The Shed person who looked like me, was indeed, me!
Fantastic video as always! Looks like a cracking day for it.
Thank you very much - weather was great!
The tender converted Austerity has to be one of the most wonderful looking things. It just works. definitely better then what has been done to that one Austerity to turn it into Thomas
I'm honestly not a fan, it's certainly interesting to see though
A steam locomotive juxtaposed by a modern LED sign is oddly comforting.
It's a good mix of old and new
Absolutely beautiful ! 👍
Thank you!
Beautiful clips, well done.
Thank you very much!
Thanks Lawrie, some great shots & views for us!
Thank you!

😂 Part of the hobby I suppose!
Great images, cheers from AUS.
Thank you very much!

That we did. We thought about sat and went, no sir!

I can’t believe you have walk through that muddy footpath.
I wanted to get the shot!
This was a great Gala! Thoroughly enjoyed it.
It really was
Magic! 😳😲👍🏻👌🏻👏🏻
Isn't it just!

It's all about knowing the route, and knowing where you are. Having been on the footplate with crew on a long run in the dark, it's amazing.
Nice to see L&Y locos running. It's just ashame that none of their Highflyer Atlantics or their 4-4-0s survived into preservation.
There's so many lovely things that didn't make it
I just got myself a peak design capture camera clip to help with clambering around. Basically, it is an arca-swiss mount point that you can use to attach your camera to a shoulder strap or onto your belt. Looks like this might help you.
Oh that sounds like it's worth looking in to
And lawrie and friends going loco 😁😉👍
Pretty much 😂
Awesome shots mate
Thank you very much!
Really love some of the shots in this vid, though with the state of those paths you really should've brought a pair of wellies!
I thought that, but wellies aren't comfy for the entire day
Fantastic.
Thank you
That 1881 loco could do with some period coaches...
Yes it could, but the livery works with what it was hauling
Awesome shots Laurie. I am visiting this railway for the first time in the summer. Where can I find these locations? Tia
If you find a footpath map, that'll lead you to most of them.
The level crossing before Eridge Station leads to a whole variety of shots, the road near high rocks station, and then the long footpath that runs through a farm from Groombridge
Mud, muck, sun, and steam.
That's a better title!
@@lmm awe! thx!
