@@SailingGargoyle we are concerned about your lock down situation , and as I am a HD marine mechanic I could have helped you through your overheating issue which is hopefully solved . hope all is going well..
@@ushillbillies that would be great though we've talked to a large number of mechanics. We believe it's a load issue caused by our Maxprop but haven't been able to confirm.. If in interested in discussing, contact us at svgargoyle50@gmail.com.
Thanks for the feedback. We didn't hit all the anchorages or even many but based on the information we had from our San Francisco friends Peter and Tom of Sailing Bohemia, we decided on Angel Island and Aquatic Cove. We also would have docked at Fisherman's Wharf if possible but many of the docks were under construction so we didn't have that option. Regarding the cats, I think we're going to do more with them as they're highly entertaining! And check out episode 3,which we're posting in a few moments.
Did you stay at the Pillar Point anchorage in Half Moon Bay? If so, how was it? I just brought my trawler down from Vancouver and want to tour the local anchorages. I enjoyed your video - thanks!
Yes, that's where we anchored. Once you're inside the breakwater it's very well sheltered and easy access to the dinghy dock. Only negative we found was the flies in the anchorage though that may have been due to timing. Glad you enjoyed the video. Have a great trip!
It's the Plastimo Echotest. We've used it for years and I actually had to Google it's name as the label is worn off. Still works brilliantly and you'll see us using it in Scotland again last year. Well made gadget for sure.
Wow; what a peaceful and beautiful anchorage on Angel Island !!!
It was lovely during the week but an absolute zoo on the weekends.
Great info hope to be there later this year from vancouver island
It's a much easier trip than we had anticipated though we did wait for a good weather window. Great place to visit!
Good info for us as we also intend to sail our Catalina 380 out of Gibsons this year
Keep us posted if you are able to depart and feel free to ask any questions that come to mind!

Nice coverage of the anchorage options in San Francisco. We hope to make the trip from BC to Mexico one day. And love the cats! :)

@@SailingGargoyle We picked up 100's of flies in Astoria. There is a fish factory of some sort there. Maybe the same thing in Half Moon Bay.
Dean loved it! He eats those big flies like they're candy.
What was the name and make of the handheld depth finder you used at Ayala cove in SF. Looks like a very useful toy
