Hard to believe that an engine rusted that bad inside , will even run a little ,let alone sit and idle, a testament to your determination Chad
Whoops its a 5.0
That old Ford probably had a 300 straight 6 with a 4 speed manual transmission. Nothing gets me more excited than a new TNT garage video! You never disappoint Chad!
I thought that to a 300 6 with a auto is rare.they must have pulled the clutch pedal and put in a auto brake pedal.
300 6 4speed is what I'm thinking to 👍
@@Ford679 I missed the clutch pedal
Ford had the same size brake pedal for auto or manual transmissions. Later in the vid, you see the clutch stuck to the floor.
@@lawrenceedwards6327 not sure where you get that information from, fords did not have the same size brake pedal, at least when it came to bullnose trucks (80-86) if it was a manual it always had a skinny pedal, if it was an auto it always has the wide pedal, this truck was clearly swapped from a manual to an auto and they just left the old pedal bracket on.
That’s a manual brake pedal. I’d bet it used to be a 300/6 4 speed and was swapped to a 351w using the 6 cyl mounts. Pretty neat truck, definitely tells a story!
Yup exactly what I’m thinkin
Yeah definitely manual you could see the clutch pedal when he showed the brake pedal
Probably the 6cylinder power steering setup ad well
Agreed
That truck was born the same time I was😜I've also noticed those new starting solenoids, everybody's been buying them and they all get stuck sleeperdude, pole barn garage have been buying them and they do the same thing.... They just don't make stuff like they used to anymore
I was 6 when this truck was born. 😊
This Ford had to have been a power house in its day as the Ford 351 was a tough motor . The 351 W was made in Canada and the 351 Cleveland was made in the USA and the difference supposedly is the Cleveland block was built a little bigger for racing. The Canadians may argue this but it is a fact.Anyway both motors were excellent and popular. Us Ford fans love them like you Chevy guys like your LS 350s!! Great video !!! Thanks
I had a 78 f-150 plow truck with the 351m. That engine ran like a top, sadly rust took it over to the point I couldnt even plow the yard with it. Miss that old truck. Last few years I used reverse for brakes too and the trans wouldn’t die either. 😂
The windsor revved higher, better suited for street and strip. The clevo redlined at 4500 and pulled like a freight train had better torque at lower revs for F Trucks and Falcons. Had both variants in Australia and know the engines well
I swapped a 300 to a 351W in a ‘83. It had a granny low 4 speed and it was sure enough a beast.
@@tylerbeach4727😊
Were any of you guys surprised at how well this beast ran after being locked up so tight for decades? Definitely a testimony to the design and resilience of the 351 Ford.
Ya got me again on a school night, bud! Luckily, tomorrow is my Friday thanks to Veterans Day (Love and Respect to all my fellow Veterans out there - thanks for your service!) so I don't mind missing a few hours of sleep. Love all these old Fords, Chad - keep em coming!
Boy howdy, I thought the last resurrection looked tough. This one was ever tougher.
So on that note, I have 2 names for you Bodacious or Bushwhacker. They were crossbred brahma rodeo bulls, and both extremely tough to ride in their day. I like Bodacious cause it didn’t seem like that truck was going to let you win. Then Bushwhacker cause you had to use your jack handle to whack through the weeds.
Love watching the likes and views thank u all for watching and helping Chad u guys rock God bless u all
Chad...nobody does a will it run and drive like you!! That's what makes this channel awesome...you just don't give up...that's why u are the best!!
Not only you made it run but the more far you were going the more I was thinking how bad it was stuck not long ago. I think you really made the trick with that homemade chain like you did on a previous video. Reward was this ride on these back roads, really pretty. Thanks for your efforts.
Hey Chad, I'm amazed the old Ford ran , let alone got you almost home. Great effort getting it going!
Darn you Chad, Up until just now I've avoided subscribing to anything here on youtube, but dang it, I just subscribed to your channel. Yours is the first youtube channel I've ever subscribed to. : ) Thank you Chad, your channel is refreshing compared to others who all seem to "go big time" and forget why people enjoy watching. Oh, tell Daisy an old retired beer drinkin shade tree mechanic in Oklahoma said hi. :)
Preshate it. 👍
@@ThisNThatGarage is the owner of the farm wanting to sell tractors I seen some in your video here I would be interested in
Palta!
chevrolette. french.. ford, in bed with hitler.. both as bad as each other.. id say.. ford was a bussiness man,,making money, in the wrong stable..@@ThisNThatGarage
You put a great effort as usual. You're nearly home and that's what counts. Great video as always and I'm looking forward to seeing the truck again. 👍✌️🇺🇲
So much dedication for a Ford.you are a saint! I'm a Ford guy. "STF" Save The Fords! 1972 was a great year for me though. Thanks for the great content Chad.!
I have an 81 f100 customer with a 300 straight 6 and a 3 speed transmission love the truck
I had a 85 Ford with the 300/6 and when I went to sell it for a new truck ,I literally had two guys bidding each other because of the motor!! Of course this was years ago. If I remember right ,I think I had a 3 speed with overdrive manual floor shift but dont quote me on this. Should have kept that truck .
Yea they came with a 3 speed with mule gear
Gotta love those ole bullnose fords. Ive got a 85 f150 4 wheel drive, two tone blue that i picked up a few yrs ago. Only had 41,000 origional on it, slowly gettin it running right. Gonna delete all that smog bs eventually and make it dependable. Congrats on getting her running.
I really think that '80's style of Ford pickup was the best looking versions of all. Glad you are rescuing it! Nice to see that you have enough mechanical experience not to let the little trials and tribulations ruin your good mood.
Mr. Morris!!! Have I told you lately, that…your channel is one of my faves?!? One of two exactly, and number one is a close friend. I’m sure that doesn’t impress you😂😂😂😂but you know… I have to periodically show you my love!
👍
It doesn't look like you're too popular in your neighborhood ? You forget to give out some candy ? Dude 😂
I've had a couple of these old Ford's, and when they're working right. Love them. When they're not they give me a big ol headache. Just to let you know MLS gets everyone😅.
Good one This N That! Hopefully that motor ain't too far gone. Beautiful country you live in down there!
I’m glad you didn’t give up and tow it home and finally got it running. Great video. Call the truck Bull Worth
I love the enthusiasm when the crank first started to move! Chad seems to love a challenge. I love watching him win!
I just love you & you’re videos, iv been sharing your videos & telling my friends & family about you, I think you’re awesome & you’re definitely my favorite ❤️
Hour and 50 mins of my buddy??? BEST November 8th ever!!
Truck was a standard, clutch pedal is stuck to the floor. Keep up the good work Chad, I love how you don’t give up. Keep up the great videos, you the MAN👍👍👍👍👍👍
OHH YEAH!!! How bout that ole Square in the back round peeking out..LOL Hope shes the next one!! Awesome work sir!! A true pleasure watching!!!
Hey hey y'all! Hope everyone's doing well and having a great week thus far! Glad to see another week and don't forget to like & share these videos to help Mr Chad out & to keep bringing us this great content. Much love you guys! 💙🙏🏼
Yes! Indeed haveing a video pop up has made my week. Chad is awesome!
LOL!
And don’t skip the ads.
When I opened my TV set for the latest news, all I saw is protests and wars. But when I opened my phone and watch yer mumblings about screws and Why Ford's stuck engines and marinating em, well , I feel peace, my man. Love country life, it's different.
Hi chad from here in UK England I love your style of resurrection many folk would walk away but you have the best stubbornness I’ve ever seen you won’t leave it no matter how much crap it gives you big respect chad from me here in UK can’t wait for next adventure all the best buddy keep well And keep video coming I’m waiting for next
I love the 351w and these trucks. I've had a bunch of them. Make a cool patina shop truck out of her. Lowered just a little. Old body looks pretty good. Another difference in the 302 and 351w is the intake is quite a bit wider on the 351. I have several good headlight bezels I could send you one for the driver's side where that one's broke if you want.
Send it on! 👍
That old thing HAD to have a STRONG set of motor mounts in it and you're as stout as 2 bulls and a big horse. And I like crowbar and clawhammer mechanicing. Right up my alley! Blessings 2 yall!
I'd be willing to bet the engine has head gasket problems as well. I hope you could hear me chearing you on from Missouri. 😊
We all leak a little as we get older, I can't hold that against it :P
Anyone else watching the engine and truck movement when he is trying to rotate that engine? Chad is strong like the Incredible Hulk!
I noticed that too. That engine wouldn’t dare stay locked up with Chad twisting on her!
It’s the brama bull nose ford! Thank you for the awesome content I admire your willingness not to give up! Also it’s a real nice moment riding on some Tennessee back roads in your old gal.
I've got to admire your posistance with this old motor but just proves how well built these old Ford motors are
Hey, you can call it Red Bull... Cuz if you rev
that up high enough it's going to give those rods wings 🤣🤣🤣
🤣
You want by far my favorite RUclipsr to watch. You are an amazing person. Keep up the great work
a few reasons i like watching you. !i am from ct and after my mom died my aunt and uncle took me in, bottom line if my aunt alice could hear you talk, you say the same things and with his voice/accent as good ole uncle al.i love the old cranky guy.
on a side note i'm 70 aunt allice is still kicken
The FMX paired with a 351 W was usually in a mid 70's LTD. That would explain the power steering bracket as well. I had a 73 LTD with a 351W and the same bracket.
Never give up on a old FORD!
Oh yeh you are one guy who never gives up, love that
Love your channel...got my brother hooked on it too. I told him when you started that you wouldnt quit on it unless there was nothing else you could do. Its great and I know you never quit!!
Love this channel ,I so wish I lived in states to find the cool old cars he finds and rescues ,love they are rescued ,very cool to see as hate the plastic crap on roads today
Outstanding job getting that poor truck running again As always I liked and shared. All my best.
You’re the vehicle whisperer! Chad! You are very skilled mechanic! Keep them coming! Always appreciate the time you take to make this happen! 👍
I love your termination in getting these old truck up and running again great job like always I really enjoy watching you
C6 small bell housing pattern out of a half ton truck 3/4 ton yolks are bigger but 1/2 ton should fit that 351 w or a aod tranny to just make sure the aod is not out of a car as the yolk are different there smaller
Just finished putting together a little Dodge D50 model kit, perfect time to sit back and watch some This N That!
For me, you're the best mech I've watched so far. You are part of the engine and the whole vehicle. Fantastic! You're really awesome! 👍💞🤗
Man I really enjoy the thing that you enchanted you take one and all that grass and I'm praying that you're trying to grow grow grow and grow man you are a miracle a wonderful man God bless you brother you have a great day and
My 84 f250 has a 351 w, over 250,000 miles very tired motor. Barely oil pressure when warm. Still going strong. Am sure you didn’t hurt the motor much. There a tough good reliable motor.
Chad the offset motor and the hole in the floor board Got me thinking that truck was probably a inline 6 cylinder and they used the motor mounts.
Quite the video with lots of grunts and groans trying to get the motor to turn over. Was VERY amazed at the size of the spider web from the dash to the front of the seat. Another good video. See ya next week.
Yep those Ford starter soloniods are known for being temperamental from new great perserverence does sometimes pay off great video keep her lit Chad
Im liking the Wednesday night, no other you tuber i watch is on at this time. Great work as always!!
Those locusts make great fire wood, but they're the second hardest tree I've work with. The black locust thorn will tear you up and the wood itself eats chainsaw blades. The worst tree is the Russian Olive. Even worse poisonous thorns and crappy wood, though it does smell nice in the spring when it flowers. Same with the black locust.
Thanks for keeping it real. I appreciate how authentic you are. Down home know how and self reliance!
This one here is definitely a "resurrection", not a "will it run". Awesome video man. Keep it a goin
A great watch on a cold Friday evening in Christchurch New Zealand .Thankyou.
Had one these new in 81...351 auto 4WD stepside.....1st new truck.... Traded for 3/4 crew cab 4X4...great truck ..been looking for another... Great video as always !
I Like Chad because He has that stick with it attitude and won't quit no matter what . You drove that truck home and thats what you said you wanted to do .I didn't know that it was as far , but that being done all you need now is a ride back to get your tools and truck . Till next time , take care , Ill be looking out for you , Stuart in Ontario ..
Keep up the resurrections as I like to call them. Honestly haven’t been able to work on my projects lately and I find it really entertaining watching someone else wrench. I know those trucks like the back of my hand so I feel like I’m just there
Beautiful country, I sure do love the Fall. That old Ford really worked you over! Maybe you can give it a backyard rebuild and get it road worthy. I'd like to see that over a few videos.
Having worked in a ford dealership years ago I know that those 351 Windsor motors had a habit of busting piston skirts so if you do get around to tearing that motor down Id be anxious to see what you find! any way I was glad that after all your hard work you finally got the old girl to run! Thats Awsome!
Raw uncut just like we like it. Your making America Great Agin . One resurrection at a time. A forgotten art.
Not a fan of the Fords in general, but I'm a huge fan of seeing anything older coming back to life! This looks so fun. I just bought a 1963 J300 to tinker with so, I'll be having some adventures of my own soon! Love your channel. 😊
My first truck was an 81 F-100 with a V6 and three on the tree. It was mint green and got 30 miles to the gallon. I had to carry spare fuel filters for when they would randomly clog up and the engine would die. That was back in 1997.
They was good trucks
Love how you dont give up. That old girl was in rough shape. You have a diamond in the rough with that 351. Towards the end she sounded real good when running. Love those bigger Ford motors.
Good.job. Nice truck Ford. F100 congratulations you show 😄👍👍👍👏👏👏👏
Not sure if anyone has said it already but with how stubborn that motor was I'd say a good name would be "Bull Headed".
I am glad you got the Ford going I hate it tore up before you got her home I enjoyed the video looking forward to the next one
I have watched two of your videos so far and I have to say I love your determination with these stuck engines. I subscribed to your channel today. I am going to have to binge watch and get caught up! Thank you for the great content!
V8 swap before kits, made it work with the 6cylinder mounts that’s the biggest reason I can see the frame being cut and offset
Had an 83 2wd short bed. That one is in WAY better shape than mine was.
Thank you for the lovely drive🇬🇧👍
I have a 85 f150 that I’m trying to build with 67xxx miles on the clock. Love the blue color builds
Used to be a 3 speed on the floor. F100 came with them a lot can tell by how far back the hole is for the shifter. And so selective indicator on the dash and manual brake petal. Pretty cool good work
Man, I LOVE your accent. You remind me of my old boss, and he's one of the coolest dudes I've ever met.
Hello Chad I watch all of your video and I love them all
Had every faith that you would get it running, well done again.
My old 84 is held together with self tappers man , shoot use them with old license plates and boom instant bodywork. My six rows always good to go. Keep up the good work bud.
I literally just got done watching a video from Pole Barn Garage, he also had a brand new solenoid get stuck on him. New Parts are junk lol
I'm thinking they mounted it to 300 inline six motor mounts, probably originally a 6 cylinder stick. They kinda sit a little to one side anyway but dang.
Excellent video Chad :) that hole cab floor thought might Manual transmission or 4×4 shifter and wild went from 250 or 300 6 cylinder motor to 351 also frame cut also weld on sounds was vechile accident sometime years back ! If not got bend up some way and that bracket have do check up on power steering one sure wild !
Chad, you have got to be the most patient man alive. I truly wish I had some of your patience. Great video I must say!
Never cease to amaze me getting these old dead vehicles running again !
Amazing that you got her going again... fun video..tks
Hey Chad. I was the 30th view on this video and felt pretty lucky about that. After that excellent demonstration of a Tennessee baseball cut and the reveal of the old girl I recognized that model as the company truck I used to get picked up in when I worked summers in an ochre mine in Cartersville Georgia in the early 80s. It was a terrible shade of orange and was known as "punk in" around the yard. It was a six with a collum shifter.
I was half way through watching you fight that cranky crank when I thought "there ain't no way."
Son you have both patience and pierce to veerence, or else you're harder headed than anybody I ever met!
I was fixing to fall asleep cause we did concrete all day so I had to pick it up this morning when I was getting me a coffee and a smoke.
Absolutely incredible that you got it running on ever how many cylinders. That you managed to drive the old Bullhead outa them weeds and around the farm? Awesome!
But sir, my dirty old ball cap is off to you for takin that poor old Bullwhip down the rural route to take it home! You my friend are an American of the original style and have turnips about the size of rutabagas.
Thanks for a great upload that had my jaw on the floor half the time and a grin all the rest. I salute you!
Those years of fix or repair daily had a lot of piston pin failure knocking. My dad's 81 had to have a piston replaced at 35,000 miles. I was always working on that POS. The 300 inline 6 sucked gas and had no power, but ran forever. I'm very surprised you got it running . I enjoyed the adventure.
That truck was definitely a 4x4 at 1 point. That's why the engine sits closer to the passenger side. It sites over that far for differential clearance.
I must say that old ford just needed a good old fashion whooping! Nice job! Your videos are fantastic and I do enjoy watching them and listening to your commentary about the elements around you while working. Bees, wasps, spiders, all natural encounters while working in a field or outside in general. You show the truth good or bad when working on vehicles. 🚗
Quite certain the factory installed motor was a 300 6 with a 4 spd manual. Looks like the power steering pump bracket was reused from the 6. Honestly it doesn’t look like a very well done swap having the motor lopsided like that. I bet the head gasket might be leaking into the coolant side the way it’s burping out water..Honestly it’s a cool truck that could be a nice little sleeper truck. Nice job on the video
Chad, wasn't sure if that old 351 was going to live, but it did. Good job Ole buddy I thank you should call that truck (The Old bull)
With patience and determination, you have it running.
Chad, you got some strong mitts. my bony fingers would never stand up to that chain wrench metal bar.
great job getting it freed up.
Wow, that truck must have had a hard life to have had an engine and transmission swap and then parked at what, 18 years old. I can guarantee you the 351W in my 86 F250 fits centered between the frame rails LOL. Not sure what that power steering pump bracket is off if, it looks nothing at all like the power steering pump bracket on my truck or all the other 351W bullnose trucks I've seen in the junkyard over the years. Maybe came from the car the engine came from. The 351W and FMX combo was a pretty common sight to find in a lot of 70's cars. As far as it not shifting to third, check to make sure the kickdown rod isn't stuck and the vacuum modulator is likely bad. Those old Ford cruise o matic and FMX transmissions are pretty sensitive to not wanting to go into third with a bad modulator.
Finally someone with a good head on his shoulders and is using a chain and pipe to try turn an engine instead of cracking off the crank bolt 👍👍👍
