Good video, but keep in mind the enemy is a narrative device. It's a trick of the manipulator to convince you that you are afraid of something. In a story the enemy is just an embodiment of the weakness of the protagonist. The Stoic/Buddhist practice is to deal with an enemy, but not let them change who you are or what you do. Being too focused on an enemy gives that negative person a degree of control over your life. Not good. I had a horrible boss who wasn't even that good at back stabbing. One day I had the idea, instead of fighting his war -- and becoming like him -- I will, every week do something amazing. I'm sure Taylor Swift had a moment like that because she's the very definition of amazing. But I'm not a fan. I'm an old guy still listening to Joni Mitchell. No problem. I have deep respect for the community Swift's built with her fans. Until this video I didn't know how critical to her narrative were the mean girls, but instinctively I did. So well Done Taylor Swift. Mostly what I get from her is she's a woman with a notebook writing poetry, struggling with the things all women struggle with. Her challenge is as it is to all of us, with herself. But we all have some chip on our shoulder from past ill treatment. I'm almost 70 - it's still there. Almost everyday there's at least the echo of 'Oh yeah, I'll show them....' But I use it to push myself forward. Even if I had the chance I wouldn't seek out those who've wounded me and rub their noses in it. I wouldn't do that to anyone. It's cruel and a waste of time. Leo Koetke the guitarist song writer has a piece, "I guess I owe it all to Pamela Brown" because she fell in love with a guy who had a pick up truck, instead of him. His disappointment and jealousy went into his music. Just having the thought, what amazing thing am I going to do this week? Gets me motivated and gets something done. The downside? When any of us change for the better in some remarkable or different way, often the people in our lives who are used to us being a certain way can feel angry, hostile to the new changes. Often they reject us. We've upset the family, community, group....
I learned about what OP is talking about in a journalism course in college. They say brands present you with a problem and then offer a solution. It’s similar to finding your enemy because the enemy is the problem and you are the solution, or at least the person that showcases them as a problem and not out for you or your followers best interest
The is a good tool to help you get clear on your values. I don't particularly care about being magnetic but the opposite of things I hate is naturally the things I value most. So I'll be using this advice for that purpose.
Turns out my enemy is: hustle culture. The tireless energetic drain it imposes, the false dreams it dangles over peoples heads to keep them coming back, the false promise of better, the overworking, the sacrificed health and rest and time in leisure & play with loved ones, the way people dedicate their lives to being of service to the workforce only to spend much of their retirement in and out of hospital or even worse, 6 feet under without the chance to enjoy their “free” time. Arghhhhhh 😡
You know that comes from the mother when she first became aware she was expecting you? Believe it or not, but I haven't found any way to change that, so maybe just accept that we are not made for careers, social status, it just makes it much harder to pay a mortgage, or sustain a family...
I'm not going to lie, I've been a bit bored of RUclips recently - there just doesn't seem to be much original content anymore, I don't know if it's just me. But this video - OMG, so good! It's the first video I've stayed completely engaged with in suchhhh a long time!! you're a brilliant creator, keep going 👏🏽
AI content farms are flooding the platform with rehashed scripts of previously uploaded videos because AI doesn’t create original ideas it only works with the data that was fed to it while being trained. You are probably noticing the difference between a human taking inspiration from source materials and a piece of code regurgitating a blend of said source materials.
@@andrewolesen8773yes, this is something I, too, have realized & is why it makes content like this so much more valid and believable. In trying to counteract AI, I’ve taken to using it as a jumping off point to go to original source material. As well, the repetitive nature of AI content regurgitation is another giveaway but I just try to use that too…as Prince said, there’s joy in repetition & I know I learn best that way. Other’s mileage will vary, of course.
My enemy is low consciousness behaviour. I hate it when this world suffers from destruction due to its stupidity. I fight for a high vibrational world.
I’d be very mindful if I were you. I have spent over a decade in “spiritual” communities where this kind of language is the norm. While I agree with the premise, I’d caution you to remain aware that a lot of the beliefs that float around in such spaces are based on falsehoods. Often they end up defending and championing “low consciousness” societies while simultaneously trying to tear down the ones who are not. All due to unconscious jealousy, envy of success, etc. Try to pair this with radical shadow work to try and avoid unconscious bias.

Hi friend, i would encourage some more introspection about this. owning this energy in thyself is indeed an important part of that process, consider the zodiacal narrative of the 7th house, Libra, which does include how we relate to "other", enemies being included. it's not about whether you have them or not, but how you relate to them. blessings on your journey of self-discovery.

Ok I genuinely just got it. I've always avoided the concept of an enemy - it's just not a thought I want to entertain. But your explanation made me see it in a new way. THX
It's good to have enemies because it means you stood up for something. They are our competitors; you learn and grow through adversary against them. They could be a complete vile trash of a human, which helps you strive to be better by comparison. However, the celebrity worship culture and obsessive fandom that comes with it isn't healthy in the slightest.
Love this. This is something I have often thought about... or rather "thought around" because I couldn't quite put my finger on, tap into it's pulse, despite my restless ruminating. Yet not only have you found it, captured this zeitgeist like a firefly in a bottle, you have also articulated it in a simplified form that's easy to process. Not only that, you've even figured out to reverse engineer an authentic version for oneself. I love that idea of constructing almost a reverse gratitude list with an itemization of dislikes and hates to figure out what you care about in a genuine way.
My enemy is destruction. I love creativity, and building, and making, and protecting history. Destruction is never the answer. My first lyrical album will be about the left-brain, dreamer side of us, about how we all deep down want to create. My second delves into an individual's mind, exploring conformity and losing yourself with age.
I really hate it when companies charge you more for less. Like phones used to come with a headphone jack, ir blaster, replaceable battery, SD slot. Almost all of those have been removed. Or streaming services getting more expensive but having less content.
Who would've thought that polarization would be magnetic, crazy. This whole humanity enterprise is about clearing the entropy of life. Trying to order the chaos, which by it's very nature, cannot be done, but it's fun to try regardless. So to achieve success you must find an area of reality which connects with a large group of people and then help them to order the chaos present in said area.
I JUST found this video. This is what I need and I subscribed immediately. God bless you. Anyway, here it is, I really hate when someone puts there all into something and they reach a point where they want to stop, and instead of persevering, they just... quit. And live the rest of their lives with that regret. What's that in a word? Anyone?
Good video. Part of the reason the enemy effect works to help you define yourself without thinking about yourself. Trying to define ourselves is really difficult, picking something and opposing that is much easier. BUT, the bigger lesson is that you need a “point of view” or a worldview. You need to figure out what you are about, and what you’re not about. If you can truly do that you will be more unique in more ways than just who you oppose, but again it is harder & takes longer to work out. Using the enemy effect is a good step toward defining yourself without figuring out your whole worldview.
You're good, I'm subscribed! My enemy is the classic education system, which made English learning so incredibly difficult to leave millions of people behind. English is "just" the most influential language, and I have a feeling that if the so-called third-world countries learned to speak English fluently, they would make their voice heard and there wouldn't be any "third" world. I may be wrong, but thanks to your video, I'll explore this idea further.
my enemy is anyone who chooses not to be kind - being kind is actually so easy so when people choose not to be nice, it INFURIATES ME but also ironic because it makes me want to do extremely unkind things to them
Have you considered that it actually might be a psychological trauma that you’re prolbably dealing with. Or a blockage. Idk how to say this but somebody probably shamed you into mentality of needing to be kind all the time and now you want to punish anybody who isn’t. Because you were punished and this is cyclical. It’s just usually this way, I mean I had and probably have this type of thought process rnow. It’s not bad but good to know where it’s coming from since it puts you in the same frame of always needing to be kind when in reality sometimes you just can’t.
@@dariazhempalukh this is exactly how it was for me. I was shamed for being kind all the time because I was told it was bad to be rude etc and people wouldn't like me. Love your take on this. I've read a few politics books about mass movements and populism which talk about how this kind of cult-like fanaticism is inspired, but I never thought to apply it to pop culture figures or brands
They're taking advantage of several biases here. Number 1 the brain responds disproportionately to negative events. Number 2 people will band together more quickly when facing a common enemy. Number 3 people tend to seek out information that confirms what they already believe. Number 4 people will do more to avoid a loss then to pursue a gain. It looks like Taylor's handlers have carefully crafted her identity so that it triggers all of these unconscious biases. The internet algorithm's have mastered this too. They have a myriad of ways to exploit and amplify these biases. It's like the inventors of these algorithms have stated. "We can't resist our own creation"
They have been practicing exactly this in the media for decades. They have plenty experience. Music, movies, TV show, news all use psychological tactics.
Edward Bernays pioneered modern propaganda which used several psychological tactics. Very similar to what she is talking about in the video. I hate propaganda. So I guess he's the grandaddy of my enemy.
Awesome video, I watched your video about contradiction as well. The ego loves its identity, it makes it seem alive. Hate and demonisation is how we define our ego and compartmentalise our love. Soon enough we conflate ourselves with it. But increasing self awareness and awareness of what you dislike and like can be very helpful especially compared to staying ignorant of the ego or even worse demonising it. All these good and bad value judgements are ends to means and as long as we have a body and live in a dualistic world it can’t be bypassed. I guess understanding your intentions and keep being aware of where you’re coming from is what matters.
Had this moment today in Uni. Saw my ex, hated on her in secret with my new classmates that I know for ½ week (so not really a deep bond) and a girl that didn't even know me, they started hating on her too, for no fucking reason, and we instantly all bonded by being evil together.
best video to change the world for the better! it brings people to reflect and think about their values, which must be positive by identifying a negative value they try to work against. Saying this I am not sure if there is anyone who would say their enemy is honest people... because all dishonesty stems from trauma of suffering under dishonesty, in broad terms.
Yes this helped me with my studies. Like, for me it is to beat those who are already in the field and underestimate the first generation learners. I like when I achieve success and beat people who have better guidance and resources than me. Basically, I hate nepostism! A teacher ridiculed me for choosing science stream for higher studies, as I had no one in my family to help me with it. Now, I'm about to enter into medical field. I always remember his smirk!
Got me. I subscribed. My enemy is those with a disdain for human life. I've always thought that was the most basic one, but I'm finding more and more it is a question these days.
Yes, but you don't overcome through hate. You do it through understanding. “In the moment when I truly understand my enemy, understand him well enough to defeat him, then in that very moment I also love him.” - Enders Game

There is no enemy. That is just a construct to create division. I agree with what you say that it does work. People love something to blame their own problems on. This way they don't have to take any personal responsibility.
It's interesting the entire video I thought for sure one name would come up who believe demonstrates this concept more than any of the names included: Kanye West. He is the definition of a personal brand, George Bush, hurricane Katrina, Taylor Swift, 50 cent, Obama, Nike, Adidas, gap, Drake, the karadashians and so many other names have all been at one time or another enemies of Ye and his cultural significance is still growing along with the list of enemies. The difference I think between taylor swift and Kanye is that ye's brand truly is Kanye where taylor swifts brand like you said is about connecting with the insecurities of her audience. But the reality is taylor is THE cool girl now, and Kanye is still Kanye.
My enemy is the low vibrational mean girls in my boyfriend friend group They belittle me to try and hurt me so I stop being positive and uplifting - if their partners start raising their vibration that means they need to change to stay with them - I have a strong sense of self and I take care of myself. They are insecure and are unhappy in their life, so they put me down to make themselves feel better about their horrible selves. They lower the vibration around them because misery loves company and they don't want people to be more successful than them. They like to have control of people.
I’ve never hated anyone, real or fictional, the way I hate Dolores Umbridge. Makes my skin crawl like no other! Guess your theory is right, our mutual hate for a shared enemy made me relate to you & like this video instantly.
It's not just the enemy, it's something adversarial preventing a like minded group from advancing, and this is a slam dunk sell because typically all eyes are on the gold medalist, but the gold medalist does not do a disproportionately larger amount of common good than silver and below, let alone silver and below unified to a common goal. Almost all of the work done to any end is done by silver and below, not the sole gold medalist, and it is very easy to ply the resentment for never getting recognition that everyone else has because well, if we're being honest about the output, they deserve more of the gratitude, not less. When the amount of attention shifts toward the top dog too much, it is like a rubber band stretched tight, and it can snap or fly back the other way at a moments notice.

You're joking, but after a year of doing Duolingo, I realized that I hate the fact that this game almost forces me to solve exercises every day, that it nags and begs and screams at me, and punishes me when I misbehave. And it quite suits my personality, I hate being told what to do. I always did my own thing.
It's a miracle I lasted one year.
In my opinion Duolingo is just a tool to encourage you to learn and if you no longer want to learn than just delete it, it is nothing personal

It is criminal that at the time of me writing this, you’ve only made four videos. I love these. Solid gold from start to finish. Make more! Make more!
Thanks for being here from the beginning. I'm really enjoying making these and it means a lot that you're enjoying watching them!

Arghhhhhh 😡
Uggh. Capitalism. I hate it. It's modern day slavery in the name of progress which ultimately makes us work harder.

I feel the same, I wonder what our general enemy is in this concept.

I just stumbled across your channel. Wow. Your execution of EVERYTHING (subtle humor and not too much, bloopers, and ability to connect through a screen) is absolutely perfect. If you keep it up, I will be proud to say I was in the first 10K when there is a million.

This was insightful. I personally don’t wanna have enemies. I am all for integrating all parts of myself (internally and externally) because we are all One . Even the part that wants to have a enemy:)

@@orbitforcreators yeah exactly. It’s such a good take on enemy. The way she put it was just so accurate
I hate apathy, exploitation, and the oppression of potential
Trying to order the chaos, which by it's very nature, cannot be done, but it's fun to try regardless. So to achieve success you must find an area of reality which connects with a large group of people and then help them to order the chaos present in said area.

And live the rest of their lives with that regret. What's that in a word? Anyone?
This has been an excellent video that has deeply made me learn many important things that are very powerful. You have a new loyal fan.
No one is perfect, all of us have been unkind at some point, even you and that is ok
@@dariazhempalukh this is exactly how it was for me. I was shamed for being kind all the time because I was told it was bad to be rude etc and people wouldn't like me. I forced myself to be kind even when I didn't want to be. And ironically started being "unkind" to people who are mean and angry because then I could justify my anger and rage towards them
@@thesevenkingswelove9554 it’s good that you’ve noticed that. Now you can work on being less harsh with yourself abt it and be more non reactive about others behaviour.

We really need an alien invasion don't we?
I wanted to watch this video but the HDR setting on the video makes me feel like I’m staring directly into a car headlight. 😭

best video to change the world for the better! it brings people to reflect and think about their values, which must be positive by identifying a negative value they try to work against. Saying this I am not sure if there is anyone who would say their enemy is honest people... because all dishonesty stems from trauma of suffering under dishonesty, in broad terms.

There is no enemy. That is just a construct to create division. I agree with what you say that it does work. People love something to blame their own problems on. This way they don't have to take any personal responsibility.
The best way to not bite the bait is to treat it like it didn't exist at all.
My enemy is inconsistency.. I value perseverance. Awesome video!
Never hate your enemy.

My enemy is the low vibrational mean girls in my boyfriend friend group
They belittle me to try and hurt me so I stop being positive and uplifting
- if their partners start raising their vibration that means they need to change to stay with them
- I have a strong sense of self and I take care of myself. They are insecure and are unhappy in their life, so they put me down to make themselves feel better about their horrible selves.
They lower the vibration around them because misery loves company and they don't want people to be more successful than them. They like to have control of people.
