How well do these hold up during a hurricane? Also I have a two story house and it is elevated because it is on a shore line. I suppose they can be operated from inside the house, through the open window.
Wood Bahama shutters are primarily designed for light control and will naturally deter some debris but are not rated for hurricane protection. Yes. you should be able to open and close the shutters through an open window.
The last step is the most important step.
Well done, best shutter install video around!

Can these shutters stop break ins and theft?
Our shutters are not built for security purposes. The shutters can be a deterrent and impede sight lines through the window.
Omg. Noooooo.
You cant close them? Gthoh.
Looks like they stay open all the time. Boooooo....
When installed with a top hinge, Bahama shutters can be closed to protect the window in inclement weather.
