Thanks for this. My son is 13 and had his second competition yesterday..he is taller than average but the kids he was against were nearly a head taller than him.! He didnt know how to deal with such a situation as he is average height in his fencing club s class
Love your analysis 👌 great game and what a final touch from Fava he never led the score the whole game and at the very end he snatched the victory. Great game from them both but it seems to me that Fava also took the victory by being better mentally and never gave Ramirez the time to rest and made him always in the doubt. I would love for fencing to be filmed with slow downs after the actions and commentators like yourself that would add so much to us viewers Otherwise it goes to fast ;) Thanks for your content anyway 🙏
Very good analysis, but very low audio. Exhausting to listen to. Seems on the last point that Ramirez went defensive and decided only to parry. But Fava held back the blade (I'd like to think because he saw no action by Ramirez or perhaps just by accident). When Fava finally committed he was well within range and Ramirez did not have enough time to parry. Ramirez should have gone for a stop hit rather than wait to parry, no?
My opinion for Fava is him not being in the same line with Martinez, and I’ve watched that multiple times the taller guy scored him bc of that when he attacked him and Fava tried counter attack but he was to much at the other side (Dont attack my grammar pls😅)
Is there a P-yellow at 0:50 of the first encounter? Interesting question as well: score 0-0 at 2:00.5, Fencer scores at 1:59, does touch get annulled because a P-halt should have been called at 2:00? Is a P-halt a hard halt that annuls touches scored even if the attack began before the halt?
@@xincheli6422 I rewatched the bida bout, i cant post them because they get deleted right away but it bida actually hits ramirez on the hand a lot to get the lead. Once he got the lead ramirez was never able to catch the distance and Bida punished heavily everytime. Since bida had a huge lead though from the hand hits ramirez was forced to take some risks.
Love your analysis 🧐! Great job Sam !
Yes absolutely
As a tall fencer this is good info -i love to know what the short folks are trying to do
Great analysis. My kids will always be the shorter fencers so this was invaluable to them!

I’m 5’6” so this is very useful to me

Do you have advice for the taller fencer.
Don't let people get into your distance too easily, it forces him to use parries which are way more predictable!
Could you do an analysis of Park Sang Young

Merci !
Ramirez lost really a lot against Sergey Bida in Tokyo Olympics, so is he less immune to continuous attacks like those often done by Bida?
To me it feels like Ramirez can't get physical with Bida so it eliminates a big part of his game because Bida is VERY strong physically
@@GPFencing I feel that a lot of times in that match Ramirez actually got the parry but Bida directly push through.
@@xincheli6422 I will watch that bout and get back to you !
