Man that fucking thumbnail brings me back. It looks exactly like the field me and my friend used stare out at and get drunk, talking about girls and growing up. To think my only worries were my job and schools and the occasional gf here and there. I miss doing stupid shit with my friends. Growing up sucks man.

I moved to Florida a few winters ago and the last two weeks I spent there before moving back to the Midwest was spent listening to Midwest Emo. I love home and now understand that this is where I was meant to be.
Blasting this during a Midwest storm while chugging cheap booze is the vibe. I just recently moved back to Portland Oregon from Iowa and boy do I miss my hometown.

Reading all these people's stories in the comments feels weird because I didn't even grow up or ever been in America. I'm from an Eastern Europe/Middle East country and sometimes all this feels like someone else's nostalgia, but im not sure if this is good or bad. Because things you can't have always seem more romantic, so maybe, having someone else's nostalgia gives me a more unique experience. I've been listenig to emo music since i was 11, but i found this genre last year along with math rock, and I fell in love instantly. It inspires me to create music of my own as a guitarist, and learn to be better at things I do, and inspires me to create more stories.
I might not be a "midwesterner" but in my opinion, this music calls to everyone.
All of us who strive to be something great.

This is so great. I love all the midwest emo mixtapes on RUclips and I'm really grateful to everyone who makes them, but I feel like there's always like the same 15 or so bands that feature on all of them, so it's awesome to see a mixtape with a load of lesser known stuff on it. It truly is great. You can tell a lot of thought went into it. Also, a rare midwest mix that introduced me to a lot of bands I didn't know while also having some seriously underrated classics.

Didn’t grow up in the Midwest, but a tiny mountain town in Colorado. About 5,000ish people in the town proper, where I lived in the boonies was like 200 tops. Nothing for me there these days. Maybe someday it’ll have something for me, but not now. These mixtapes bring me the same feels I had when I wanted nothing more than to leave and start my life that I didn’t get to live at all because of where I was and realizing who I really was. Now I’m 23, second round in college after the pandemic ruined round one, and trying my hardest to stay true to myself.
Moved back to my home town to graduate high school (class of 2020) small town in eastern Oklahoma grew from 800 to 1000 since i been gone but they town the subway sandwich store:( but thank the lord for Dollar General
