Wolf Kahn is an American-German painter known for his colorful landscapes. Color itself is at the center of his work, explaining that it “is my primary interest. I always try to reach the critical point, where the color becomes too soft or too raw, too loud or too quiet”. First student then studio assistant of the famous abstract painter Hans Hoffmann, Kahn developed a style based on realism and Color Field with a touch of impressionist influence. Born October 4, 1927 in Stuttgart, Germany, Kahn lived and worked between New York and Vermont until his death in 2020. His work is in the collections of the Met in New York, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Hirschhorn Museum and the National Museum of American Art in Washington, D.C
