It’s funny that you said Bucky looks so normal while speaking Romanian and buying fruit in Bucharest, Romania. In real life, Sebastian Stan is Romanian and came to America as a small child. He can actually speak the language. 😂👍🏼
The chemistry you recognized with Falcon and Buckey is attributable to their real life friendship. They’re inseparable on set and during press events. Also they hang out together between projects. Real life besties.
Exactly what the Marvel press teams is praying you'll believe. Back in 2021 Sebastian Stan said on record Mackie hadn't texted him for months. One of the big reasons they paired Sebastian Stan with Anthony Mackie for every interview is because Stan is known to be extremely laid-back and gets along with everyone. He makes a point of really knowing every member of his film crews and makes sure everyone -- from the director to the makeup artists to the studio cleaners -- receive "wrap," or end of shoot gifts. Mackie is known for very opposite behaviour. Yet, Mackie knows he has a show and an image to sell, so buddy-buddy it is. 🤷♀
@@thedivareview Yeah, Black actors are always trying to paint themselves as good people, but deep down we all know they're nothing but horrible people that abuse their women.
Fun fact for you Jax! When Tony tells spiderman "I'm going to sit here, so you move the leg," it was completely improv because Tom Holland had forgotten the blocking for the scene. Robert Downy is just good enough to tell him what to do without breaking character.
It's interesting how much guilt is a motivator for Tony. He has shown, throughout these movies to almost completely change his ideology as soon as he's blamed for something terrible. This possibly explains why he bonds so well with Peter Parker. Love your reactions, keep up the great work!
As much as Steve wants to be righteous and responsible, her did Tony wrong. Now I get it Bucky and Steve are best friends, he knew Bucky killed his parents and said nothing to him or about it
They don't mention Uncle Ben at all in this film; for all we know, he could be on a business trip to Kentucky or wherever. But those of us who know the Spider-Man story know he's probably dead, and when Peter talks about how if you have the power to stop bad things from happening and you don't, then it's your fault, he's most likely blaming himself for Ben's death. Tony misses that, though, and thinks it's just a general sense of responsibility. Which makes me feel Peter's lonely guilt all the more.
@@nkosikhonangidi7251 No he didn't, and no he didn't. He knew HYDRA was behind killing Tony's parents. He didn't know it was Bucky; really, it's pretty fucking stupid to blame Bucky. Tony did Bucky and Steve wrong by blaming the 100 years tortured POW for being beaten, tortured, and brain-washed into doing Hydra's bidding. There's a reason Tony is the villain in the Captain America movie: he's operating on dark side emotions like anger and hatred, lashing out in his grief at those who don't deserve it. Low-key, Tony sucks. He's the worst.
"I'm gonna sit here, so you move the leg." Robert Downey Jr. improvised that little line and made it sound so naturally Tony. Tom Holland had his leg up on the bed, but Tony has to sit down next to him in the scene. So Downey makes it part of the scene without even thinking about it.
He didn't really made this part of scene, he actually looked to left at director awaiting for cut command, and only then improvised continuation. Bob shares credit in this scene with crew.
One of the things I loved about this movie is that it showcases Tony's and Steve's character arcs really well, tying all the previous movies together. In Iron Man 1, Tony shouts in court about having privatised security. But because of his guilt, he is now the one arguing for them to be constrained by a central Authority. In Capt America 1, Steve is the embodiment of the good soldier. He listened to Authority without hesitation or question. But because of his experience with SHIELD, he is now arguing to remove Authority from controlling him and to have the Avengers remain their own private security organisation. It's really clever storytelling how they've developed these perspectives over multiple movies to have it culminate in this one.
In Captain America 1 Steve ditches the USO show and heads out without orders to rescue Bucky and the other prisoners. Yes, he turns himself in for disciplinary action as soon as they return, but Steve has always been a guy to do what's right, not what he's told. So when those in authority are just in the exercise of that authority, i.e. when they are also morally right, Steve will obey that authority. And when they're wrong, he won't.
@@flatebo1 Yeah everyone gets this wrong, saying cap followed orders, he did unless they went against what's right. In Avengers he broke into locked Hellicarrier spaces to find the Hydra weapons.
10:29 "We try to save as many people as we can; sometimes that doesn't mean everybody." Something every emergency response professional -- law enforcement officer, doctor, etc. -- must come to terms with.😔

@@johnwalkeristhatdude3018 You're completely delusional. They didn't murder anyone. They tried to contain and remove a bomb that was going to kill many of the public, but they were only partly successful, so some people still did die. That's not murder. The murderers were the ones who brought and set off the bomb.
@@johnwalkeristhatdude3018 Did you watch the same movie? Who pissed in your cereal? They didn't 'invade Lagos', they were tracking Terrorists killers. Those people were murdered via RUMLOW/HYDRAS actions and would have killed untold thousands to millions if they released that VIRUS they stole. If Wanda didn't contain RUMLOW 10 times more people would have died and been injured on that crowded ground area vs the building offices (which wasn't her intent at all). If anything it's 3rd degree involuntary manslaughter/homicide, not murder. Learn how the law works concerning people dying at the hands of another human. 1st,2nd,3rd degree murder/manslaughter/homicide all are different intents with different charges. @@johnwalkeristhatdude3018 They didn't "invade" Nigeria. They prevented Brock "Crossbones" Rumlow from stealing a deadly biological weapon. Murder is a deliberate act. Rumlow set off the bomb that would have killed everyone in that market. Wanda tried to contain the blast and send it away, but couldn't control it long enough. Many world governments have invaded far more egregiously, with far worse results. They just don't like private individuals with so much power doing it without their consent.
I was split. My head was with Team Cap but my heart was with Tony, not TEAM Tony, just Tony. A line that people kind of gloss over is what he says right after "Oh! You two knew each other?" He says, "He mentioned you just a couple thousand times. God I hated you." Tony must've had a BITTER resentment for Steve growing up, and that resentment probably shaped much of his life. (Of course, that's obviously not Steve's fault) He's a fragile psyche that's lost everything in his life except his money. And as Howard himself said, "No amount of money ever bought a second of time."
I do remember that line, and then you see Cap's reaction cause he kinda realizes another reason why Tony has been so hard to get along with from the beginning. No matter all the good Cap did back in WW2 in how he saved people, Tony would never be able to appreciate it and have respect for Cap because Howard spent so much time talking about him. Then again, Stark does not have respect for many things because he is so smart that he can create extremely powerful things.
@@Serryy Wrong about the Accords? Hell fucking no. The Accords were a waste of time and legistlation. They literally got repealed because they were clearly counter-productive
@@Serryy The way Tony irresponsibly tricks Peter, a 14-year-old child, into fighting superheroes for him really highlights how Tony is in the wrong here. Not only big picture - that Tony recruits a child to help him fight superheroes - but also in their discussion. Peter tells him "when you have this power, if you don't do anything with it, then it's your fault when something bad happens." You know, the literal opposite of what Tony wants in signing the accords; he wants to absolve himself of responsibility because he feels guilty about how he's fucked up. And so he wants to give the responsibility of controlling his power over to somebody else, ANYBODY else, rather than take responsibility for himself. (For his own power. Tony's philosophy in Civil War, if we could sum it up in a pithy manner, might be said as "with great power, comes no responsibility, give that to somebody else because it's really heavy".)
@@reactswithjax really surprised me to hear someone call Daniel Brühl "obviously creepy" - here in Germany he is mostly known for playing the slightly bumbling but very handsome nice guy ("Good bye Lenin" would be my recommendation, but it involves a lot of specific German history background). And yes, he also gives a great villain performance.
@@reactswithjax Oh also little fun fact I thought I’d throw out there only if nobody told you, but Spider-man is actually physically superior to both Steve and Bucky. One thing about Spider-Man is he knows he’s stronger than the people he fights, so he’s always holding back in every fight because he knows he were to really go all out, he could kill someone with a single punch. I mean this for the character in general, there was one comic where he went up against all the members of the Avengers, seasoned and experienced heroes. Spider-Man won.
@williamdarling8373 to add to that, scene where Bucky attempted to punch Spider-Man, and his hand was effortlessly stopped and overpowered... look at Bucky's reaction at that moment.
All 3 of the Captain America films have been top tier Marvel at the height of their powers. It's a perfect trilogy. Glad you enjoyed it, Jax! Yes, we will see Bucky again, but the Wakandans are helping him rehabilitate his mind so that the mind control triggers don't affect him. His story isn't over yet.
My 2nd favorite MCU film. Zemo was a fantastic character. He used his brain to tear the Avengers apart, and it worked brilliantly. The airport fight scene was one of the best in the franchise. I'm looking forward to watching you continue your journey with these movies.
This was a fantastic movie! I can see why it's your 2nd favorite in the MCU. It's scary how effective Zemo was as a villain. He was so quiet and methodical.
Bucky was THE Winter Soldier. In 1991 they tried making new WS as Bucky was originally made from a serum made by Hydra the Nazi scientific team and after the war ended Russia picked up the information and tried replicating it but they couldn't make it as affective as Hydra had. Bucky is actually one of the most popular characters in the MCU. Watch the The Falcon And The Winter Soldier tv series to see more back story .
27:51 That is an EMP bomb. Electro-Magnetic Pulse. Messes with electrical systems but isn't lethal, well not unless you have a pacemaker. Zemo has sent it to a main junction in the cities' grid to take down the power. 46:50 Bucky hasn't killed anyone since WW2. The Winter Soldier is pretty much a separate personality.
@@genghisgalahad8465 actually until the end Captain America: Winter Soldier, Bucky was a completely different personality. They didn't have access to each other's memories. That's why he was asking Director Pierece who Steve was in the Winter Soldier movie. @@reactswithjax Oh, cannot wait to watch Dr.Strange, Guardians Vol.2, Thor Ragnarok and Avengers Infinity War (this one is particularly, will destroy you)
I feel like nobody was really feeling Steve and Sharon. That scene felt so off somehow - like you said (correctly), they didn't really do a good job of building up a romantic relationship. Other than that, this was a magnificent film. Truly a film that split everyone's opinions. But so well done. It really made people think. Honestly, I don't get how some people don't feel for Bucky. This guy's been through everything and he's obviously more than traumatized by how he was treated and by what he had to do. Of course, it wasn't good but he literally had no choice.
Seriously, he's the biggest victim, and the embodiment of the worst that can happen with the principles of the accords. Someone beholden to governing powers, not having his own agency, just doing as he's told.
This might be my favorite MCU movie if only because it does go in such a different direction from what we'd seen. Great idea to use Ant Man and Spider-Man as the comic relief during the airport fight. They're the ones with the least amount on the line, so them being more light hearted works wonderfully. Something to note is that Tony and Steve are both in very emotionally vulnerable places at this point. Tony's lost Pepper and we've seen 3 movies shows us how important she is to him. Steve loses Peggy in this movie and she was the last real connection to the world he used to be in, which makes his search for Bucky so much more important to him. So they're both already on edge and now in a very difficult situation. Adding to that is Vision's growing feelings for Wanda and that clouds his judgment too. He's basically a computer, he should have calculated that Sam would dodge the energy beam causing that to hit Rhodey. In a sense, this movie is about the people who need to be laser focused at a critical time, aren't and how badly that affects those around them.
oh,sure.... those metal wings would sooo much be a glider....except sam would have crashed as well, but unlike Rhodey he wouldnt had armor to soften the fall...
@@MsKeylasthey’re carbon fiber…Spider-Man says this like 5 minutes before this happens. IRL, the lightest rigid material out there is the wings would be so stupid and worthless if all they did was look cool. Please watch the movie before saying dumb things so confidently
@@cringemeat9430 Plus Sam had no reason to think he'd ditch his wings during The Winter Soldier but had a parachute because he knows his flight suit is experimental and already lost a wingman through it. If his wings failed to turn into a glider then he most definitely had a parachute. If he didn't for some dumb reason, either Tony or Rhodes would've gone after him. The reason they didn't make it in time for Rhodes was because he is in the War Machine suit which weighs at least a ton if not more. There are multiple decisions and directions one could complain about but the way they thought about grounding Sam wasn't one of them.
I feel a lot of hints flew over Jax in this one. When Sam said he knew a guy that was Sam talking about the phone call in Ant-Man offering Scott a job 🤭
A lot of people seem confused when Cap says he knew Buck killed Tony's parents, but it was one of the stories brought up in The Winter Soldier when Cap infiltrates the old hydra base. He learned the Winter Soldier killed the Starks, not long before finding out it was Bucky who became him. Spider-Man was the real selling point of this movie when the first posters were released. He was _instrumental_ to the comic storyline that inspired this, so much so the story was essentially a battle of who could win him over and therefore win the fight. Back in 2016, Sony was messing up bad and it looked like we'd not get a Spider-Man for a while. Then Marvel dropped the first poster with an Iron Man arm and Cap arm grabbing at opposite ends of Spidey's arm, and it broke the internet. Not only a new Spidey, but also, finally in the MCU. Him catching the Winter Soldiers bionic arm like it was nothing is still in my top 5 MCU moments, the rest of which come after this movie.
Civil War has a special place in my heart. Incredible dialogue, brilliant introductions to Spiderman and Black Panther, Chadwick Boseman ("In my culture death is not the end")😭, great story and pacing. I remember being able to genuinely see both Tony's and Cap's side. Jax's Marvel Fridays are always a treat!
Yes, the man who refused the oversight of his companions and created a murder bot decides EVERYONE is at fault and he’s the guy to demand oversight of them. So he recruits a powered child soldier, smuggles him in and out of Germany, doesn’t even inform the authorities of his existence, and tries to kill the victim of brainwashing. Yeah… both sides.
I can kind of see Tony's side but he is doing it for all the wrong reasons and he winds up being wrong about basically everything from the accords to the manipulation by Zemo and also holding Bucky accountable for something he had no control over.
I love how they managed to balance everyone and them addressing all the colateral damage that does happen in superhero fights like its an unavoidable thing
Yes. Rumlow’s super villain name is “Crossbones”. That awkward scene with Tony on stage not mentioning Pepper has to do with the fact that in real life, Gwenyth Paltrow’s contract ran out with Marvel/Disney. She was in talks of renewing her contract. That’s why she was absent from the film. In Black Panther’s solo film, they’ll explain how Black Panther has the same abilities as Cap and Bucky.
About BP's abilities matching Cap's and WS's super soldier serum boost: IMO BP film will not explain as you probably expect, between explosion and first photo of bucky there is definitely not enough time whole BP to happen. Tchalla still had no his inauguration ceremony, still haven't consumed magic vibranium "tea" (local equivalent of SS serum). At most BP has his costume, which makes him more like Iron Man than Super Soldiers. Scaling wise they might match, but nature is completely different.
@@yaroslavpanych2067 in this movie T'Challa already has BP abilities, he already consumed the herb. That's why he' can run and jump like Cap and Bucky and has super strength. His father T'Chaka has given up the protector of Wakanda role to his son, but was continuing to serve as king. In the BP movie we jsee T'Challa crowned king after his father's death. The vibranium BP suit doesn't enhance physical abilities. It doesn't make the wearer any stronger or faster, it simply makes them bulletproof and provides surveillance/monitoring capabilities (night vision, communication etc). In that sense it's kind of like the Iron Man suits but it doesn't have any built-in weapons other than claws. The Black Panther himself is the weapon, the suit is protection. In the comics (as opposed to the MCU) the suit has more offensive and defensive abilities, but still doesn't make the wearer any physically stronger or faster.
Technically BP's abilities exceed that of Bucky and Cap, it's just in the MCU they decided to boost the definition of "super soldier" significantly. In the comics, he would be no stronger than DC's Batman, only a peak human in the physical sense, but no innate combat ability. In the MCU, they keep making them stronger and stronger, to the point where in F&TWD they were straight mini-Spider-Men.
@@yaroslavpanych2067T'Challa was already The Black Panther, protector of Wakanda. His father had already passed the mantle of Black Panther down to his son. BP movie shows his official inauguration as King T'Challa.
In your "The Avengers" reaction asked "I wonder if that will ever come up again, where somebody wants Steve to sign something." I found it so funny that back then you asked a funny question to yourself, not knowing it would be such a big moment in a future movie. The moment at 26:21 where Tony asks Steve to sign the Accords is such a lovely scene.
This is what I’ve been waiting for. You have literally reached the best phase of the MCU. It has been awesome following this journey so far but now you’re in for one wild ride! As for me, I’ve always been team Cap. I could never sign something that takes away my free will. And especially not for the United Nations which I’ve seen do some dumb things over the years. I totally understand where Tony was coming from but I definitely would have sided with Steve. I love this movie because it really packed an emotional punch with the investment we all had with these characters going in. I think that this is one of the greatest movies ever made in how they handled that many important characters. You don’t feel like anyone was really neglected or mistreated and they all were true to their characters. It is basically a perfect film! I can’t wait for Dr Strange. That one is different than anything else you’ve seen so far in the MCU.
Whoever was in charge of marketing for this film was a genius. I remember in 2016 during the build up to this film, you couldn’t go anywhere without seeing #TeamCap or #TeamIronMan
When Peter was talking to Tony about bad things happening after he got his powers and they happened because of him, he was talking about Uncle Ben dying.

Ross showed a lot of footage, but he overlooked Thor’s fight with Malekith in London, Hulk vs Hulkbuster in Johannesburg, and the Avengers vs Ultron and his sentries in Seoul. Steve and Tony swapped ideologies. There was a time when Steve trusted the government, but the times have changed in more ways than one. After what happened with S.H.I.E.L.D. in the present, he knows better than to trust the powers in charge. As for Tony, he always did what he wanted and refused to listen when people tried to dissuade from going overboard. He’s late but he’s finally starting to take accountability and wants to able to continue as Iron Man. Vision delivered a good argument without being hypocritical. He literally knows his own strength. To ordinary people, he’s basically god-level like Thor. For Sam and Rhodey, they didn’t have much of a choice. Even if they did, they were still gonna side with their respective best friends - and not just because of their friendships with them. Rhodey, for instance, is still an active member of the American military whereas Sam has seen the things that Steve saw during the HYDRA uprising. The language T’Chaka spoke is Xhosa. It’s widely spoken in South Africa which is where his actor John Kani is from. Zemo’s actor Daniel Brühl grew up speaking German through his father. He also learned Spanish and Catalan from his mother. Daniel reprised his role as Zemo for the German dub. Sebastian Stan is good at speaking Romanian because he grew up in Constanța, and unless I’m mistaken he did his own motorbike stunt. The elite death squad included some of the actors’ stunt doubles at the time. In a deleted scene when Clint and Nat were fighting: Nat: Don’t you think Laura would be disappointed? Clint: Who, in me or you? In another deleted scene, Nat watches the fight in horror after recovering from Wanda’s attack. While evading War Machine, Cap loses his shield. Bucky grabs it and throws it to War Machine. It bounces off of him and Falcon throws it back to Cap. Cap: Nice save. Bucky: I gotta get me one of those. What’s most interesting about Zemo is that he messed with the Avengers without laying a finger with them. CinemaWins goes into further detail as to how and why his plan worked. In the Latin Spanish dub, when Tony grabs Bucky in the silo, the dialogue gets changed a bit but holds the same meaning: Tony: Do you at least remember my parents? Bucky: I carry them in my mind, too! I also think that Nat and Sam knew about it as well. Nat was with Steve when Zola showed them the article. She also dug up some info on Bucky which might have included some info about that night. And of course, Sam would help Steve look for him. “Tony Stank” is still my favorite Stan Lee cameo in terms of comedy. Also, you know it’s a cool scene when you put three legends in the same room.
This was such a great summary/analysis of the movie. I agree that Tony and Steve have switched perspectives. Tony has grown so much as a character and it's been really lovely to watch. The motorcycle stunt that Sebastian Stan did was incredible! ❤️
Oh my goodness when your face lit up the moment you realized Holland was Spiderman, oh my goodness, and your general enjoyment of his fight, I think i had a serotonin overdose. There are over 1000 comments here (congratulations!) so it's possible someone said this already; Vision has the ability to change his density; reducing it to the point of phasing through things, and increasing it to the point of being one of the densest...'things'? ever, along with flying shooting beams and all that - that's what Wanda did, she took control of his density, increased it to the point where he was so heavy he cracked through the ground and fell through the earth. Btw, look, im no big shot RUclipsr and editor, but during the fight, when Spiderman said "Tony said to go for your legs" or something like that, you said "That's what I said in the last Captain American movie!" Anyway, thanks for another fantastic reaction, I reallllllly enjoy these and look forward to them and definitely looking forward to the next one!
I'm SO glad you loved the whistle sounds when they were jumping!! I had no idea that Wanda was able to change Vision's density. Thank you so much for explaining that. "Well, that's what would have happened to Sam if that hit him" .. no, he's got wings. They even say it right before .. "turn him into a glider". Rhodey has no wings, only thrust. Cut the power to that and he is as helpless as a stone in free-fall.
You mentioned Tony and Steve being like siblings. That's 100% accurate. Steve was Howards biggest creation. And he would tell Tony about Steve all the time. His entire life, he felt that his father was more proud of Captain America, and loved him more. Tony always felt like the little brother in his "perfect" older brother's shadow: always not good enough, and constantly needing to prove himself to a father that wasn't there anymore. Tony always acted towards Steve with sibling rivalry; angry that Steve was the pride of the family, and he being the forgotten son. And he was always trying to outrun that ghost. That's where a lot of Tony's damage/trauma comes from. Steve always acted like he didn't understand why his brother was acting like that because he'd only been kind and understanding and fair towards him. And in this movie, Steve "choosing" Bucky over Tony... that actually broke Tony's heart. He felty abandoned by Steve when Steve didn't sign the accords. And choosing Bucky was the final nail in the coffin. Tony felt betrayed and abandoned by his brother. It parallels Thor and Loki's relationship a tiny bit.
Exactly. Howard always seemed to prefer Steve and Steve is protecting his killer. Tony told Steve he didn’t believe Cap deserved the shield Howard made for him.
And Tony has spent about 40 years dealing with the ghost (who has a freakin' exhibit in the Smithsonian!)…and then Steve turns up, alive and buff (and incredibly self-righteous) and Tony has to interact and make friends with him. And Tony gets to "pay for everything and design everything and make everybody look cooler" (Age of Ultron), but everybody treats Steve as the leader. And Steve gets to snap at Tony for being a "big man in a suit’ (Avengers) and blast him for "keeping secrets" (like YOU'RE one to talk!) and make Tony feel even guiltier about Ultron (which was Tony's fault, but literally nobody else was even trying to do something to stop the aliens from coming back). No wonder when Wanda puts the Hex on Tony, he imagines STEVE blaming him for the world being destroyed. Meanwhile, Steve can't even say "thank you" for a damn pen. FFS.

People vilified Bucky unfairly in Captain America: Civil War and just straight up ignored or neglected all the scenes in The Winter Soldier where he went through all that torture, having memories wiped, and experimentation he went through. All because of Tony. He attacked Bucky out of grief, emotion, and impulse.
You watched the Captain America movies where Bucky is Steve’s oldest friend, and also never chose to be what he is, or hurt anyone, (even T’Challa later called Bucky a victim,) and you didn’t think Steve was going to try saving and protecting Bucky if he could? Sam wouldn't have had the same fate as Rhodey. They were going for his thrusters only, "turn it in to a glider." And he had a chute if the wings fail (like when Bucky ripped a wing off in Winter Soldier). Rhodey lost all power when his arc reactor got hit, and had absolutely no control.
Funny how everybody has such faith in Stark tech that nobody wonders why everybody's favourite Genius, Billionaire, Playboy, Philanthropist failed to provide his airborne BFF with the same parachute that commenters believe is like a magic carpet for Sam (Never mind that using a parachute is in no way foolproof) ? Or a backup power source, maybe? Or an ejection seat, at least? Also, Rhodey is the one who commands Vision (Why? How?) to take this ridiculously dangerous shot at Sam. The highly-decorated military officer just expected this other decorated military man to just stay still and let Vision shoot him with impossible accuracy? So, 1) Karma - Rhodey proves once again, why, outside of proposing nipping the Thanos problem in the bud, he has never been the sharpest bullet in the arsenal; and, 2) How would Rhodey know/memorise the exact schematics of Falcon's wings? Dude couldn't even stop the HammerTech suit he traitorously wore in IM2, from trying to kill his "best friend." (Maybe that's why no parachute? Tony never really got over it? 🤣) I guess nobody wants to talk about Sam racing to try to save Rhodey from his own stupidity (Which Saint Tony, nor Vision, who can change his density and travel at speeds of 700MPH, failed to do). Sam, who easily could've been the one of the ground instead of Rhodey, is a trained military medic, moves forward, hands down, and apologises for the accident which was not his fault, and true to his "brilliance," good guy Tony attempts murder him by shooting a repulsor ray blast -- without warning -- directly to Falcon's chest, that knocks him backwards, off his feet, tumbling through the air, where Sam could have easily been killed or broken his neck. Lastly, bizarrely, the omniscient Vision gracefully floats into the scene, casually walking toward Rhodey and Tony, and is of no help, whatsoever. 😂

The comic book heroes don't need oversight because it's the heroes that are the 'higher authority' and intrinsically trustworthy. There's not one thing the Avengers had done to this point that was nefarious or ill-intended, just some unfortunate collateral damage from fighting the bad guys. Nuanced rules can't account for those things happening, no matter who is making the decisions.
While I get what you're saying and even partially agree, the accords could have still been reworked without too much fuss, had the Avengers sign the original draft or even just be more open to compromises and discussion. But Team Cap didn't try to use diplomacy, didn't show up to the UN meeting (the one where King T'Challa died) where they could have pleaded their case of why the current form of the accords didn't suit them or even about why they were against the idea of the accords (However, considering 117 countries sign on. Legally, it wasn't their place to decide if the accords would pass or not; even if I still agree they should have had more of a say in them from the start). Steve went straight to "my way or the highway", and I'm going to break the law/use violence without trying for more peaceful and lawful solutions first. I think this movie did a good job showing Steve's vulnerabilities and flaws (his stubborn self-righteousness, for instance) and made him a more complex character. So I'm not really into the "Paragon of Justice" Steve version some fans prefer (which is their right and perfectly fine; only speaking of my preference). Steve is a good man, but he's not Superman.
@@babadoudidadoudayou don't sign a contract and then negotiate. If they cared about anything other than control they wouldn't have ambushed them and would have sat down and actually built a fare and reasonable system. But they didn't because damn near everything in the accords is either human rights violation or counterintuitive towards the goal of "minimizing civilian casualties". The movie tricked the audience into thinking the accords were necessary and not straight up evil because they wanted to artificially split the audience and have a stupid "BvS" hero vs hero movie. Everyone in this movie but especially Tony is so out of character and it falls flat in complete contrast to winter soldier.
But when were they ever friends? It would make sense if it was coming from Nat or anyone else on the team, but Steve and Tony went from openly hostile to grudging mutual respect while constantly disagreeing. IMO that line only emphasized how skewered Tony's view is.

When I first watched it I was Team Cap, not that I blame Tony at all. Throughout the movie, Steve could’ve just told Tony, and trust him to do the right thing but he just never did. It was the whole trust issue and honesty that sent me fully to team Iron Man
People's reactions to this movie have been divided as to who they think is right. There are the ones who are Team Cap and there are those who are Team Iron Man, depending on everyone's different perspectives and points of view. And that is the beauty of this film .... that it is able to take a pop culture superhero movie and introduce concepts that are complicated and make us really think, not just in terms of black and white but to also consider all the grey areas; just like in real life situations.

Yeah Civil War is widely considered one of the best MCU movies. It just does everything so well. It was a little odd that Tony would bring a teenager into all this out of nowhere but this also has to do with the licensing for Spiderman. That property was owned by Sony for years (previous Spiderman movies were Sony) so everyone thought there was no way for Spidey to be in a Marvel movie even though he's historically a Marvel character. Because the MCU was becoming so successful the two companies worked out a licensing deal to bring Spidey back home to Marvel. And that is where "Homecoming" comes in.
Tony did brought a teenager but only to web everyone up (which HISHE did show Spider Man should have done and Team Iron Man would have easily won) and he isn't a normal teenager, stopping a car going that fast thay easily requires a lot of force
@@theamazingspooderman2697 I mean, it's Captain America's movie; it makes sense that they would use Peter to highlight what a hypocrite Tony is, to highlight that it's not a debate with two equal sides but rather one right side, and one wrong side. Oh yeah Spider-Man showing up was insane people went mental at the cameo in the Civil War Trailer. For legal reasons with Sony owning his movies rights they simply couldn't introduce Spider-Man into the MCU unless Sony agreed. Andrew Garfield could've been the MCU Spider-Man as when The Amazing Spider-Man 2 VFX's were being worked on Marvel came to Sony to see if they could add The Avengers tower into the Manhattan Skyline connecting The Amazing Spider-Man films to the MCU but they were close to finished so it never happened. In terms of Tom Holland he's a very good Peter Parker and Spider-Man. The big difference being his connection to Tony Stark at a young age and how the Civil War event has pretty much kick started his career as Spider-Man from Tony developing a 15 year old Peter a high tech suit to going up against the Avengers in a civil war conflict. In the comics Peter was more mature in his early 20s in Civil War so I know alot of people were not too big on this aspect and preferred Spider-Man to start out low tech and Independent from The Avengers and then make his way up after a few years Spider-Man. People would've preferred at least a trilogy of films building Spider-Man from 15 to starting college at 18 where he'll become closer to the Avengers as he's older and more experienced and then taking part in the Civil War event when he's maybe early 20s. So we have time to see this Spider-Man being more low tech on his own and then connecting with the Avengers, still love the later Spider-Man films though but yeah this Spider-Mans early years are much more high tech compared to the comic and other Spider-Man movies simply because of how long it took Sony to finally allow a Spider-Man in the MCU. In the comic The New Warriors (Night Thrasher, Namorita, Speedball, and Microbe) battle a group of villains (Cobalt Man, Speedfreek, Coldheart, and Nitro all B and C list Villains and hero's) in Stamford, Connecticut, while filming a reality television show. Nitro explodes, killing more than 600 people (including school children and all of the New Warriors except Speedball). The rest of the superheroes appear in Stamford to search for survivors from X-Men, Avengers, Fantastic Four, and other solo hero's, The X-Men are overseen by Sentinels. The Superhero Registration Act comes into play with many hero's agreeing to sign after what happened in Stamford while other hero's decide not to sign as that would mean registering with the federal government as a "human weapon of mass destruction," reveal their true identity to the authorities, and undergo training. Iron man is pro signing while Captain America is anti signing same as the film. So the MCU Civil War is more in relation to the events we've been seeing in the Avengers films along with Winter Solider etc. Fitting the Civil War storyline into the MCU instead of coming up with a storyline closer to the massive Superhero Civil War in the comics it's more of an Avengers Civil War. The MCU instead of the The Superhero Registration Act we have the The Sokovia Accords. The Avengers Will No Longer Be A Private Organization And Are Subject To Government Oversight, No Superhero Is Allowed To Operate Outside Of Their Own Country Without UN Approval, Using Superpowers To Break The Law Or Engage In Vigilante Activity Means Indefinite Detention Without Trial, The Use Of Technology To Grant Superpowers Will Be Regulated, Section 36B: The Creation Of Self-Aware Artificial Intelligence Is Prohibited.
Follow up but yes this is the first introduction to Spider-Man in the MCU so don't worry about missing a Spider-Man film. With how plans were going for Marvel there were actually two scripts for Civil War one without Spider-Man and one with Spider-Man just incase the Marvel and Sony agreement never went through. Antman would've been Team Ironman instead changing his character going forward. Spider-Man films were only added to Disney Plus not that long ago as they're Distributed by Sony Pictures, Sony Pictures Releasing and co produced by Columbia Pictures and of course Marvel Studios. So Sony is heavily involved with these films alongside Marvel Studios. So for a while you couldn't watch anything Spider-Man related under Disney Plus but you're all good now for everything MCU Spider-Man related.
I dont understand why everyone wants the movies to be comic accurate, they are based on the comics and are not adaptations, if u want direct adaptations go watch anime, they literally make the anime a 1 on 1 copy of mangas (while also removing some scenes)

I was Team Steve all the way. This remains my favorite MCU movie - it was a theme park ride start to finish. At the end when Steve lifted his shield to bring it down on Tony, I wasn't sure if he was going for a kill - then I realized he was just trying to create an opening to go for the reactor to shut down the suit. I was stunned that I thought Steve might have been going for a kill, and then the camera focused on Tony's face for a moment - he looked like he was thinking the same thing. It was a cool moment.

I saw this in theaters. the reaction to the "QUEENS" title card alone was worth it. I remember it as he last MCU film I saw at the movies that didnt leave me disappointed - the Bucky/Steve friendship carries the Cap movies, the rest of the franchise lacks that sadly...
I mean take it back further, it was his weapons that he made that destroyed their home and their family, which in turn caused her Vendetta against him so...
At the time this came out, I was Team Iron Man. But after watching the rest of the movies in the Infinity Saga and FATWS, I became more empathetic toward Bucky. I wouldn’t exactly say I would switch sides now, but I probably would be impartial to both sides now. Also, after watching this.. while it does seem like an Avengers movie, it technically is a Captain America movie. It feels like they try to make you feel more sympathetic toward Cap’s side.
Well between Cap and Tony, one of them has a track record of making bad decisions and the other of making good ones. In this particular aspect it isn't an equally balanced "fight" because Cap's superpower is basically good judgement. It's the same in the comics.
My favorite part of this is movie is how against the accords Cap is, from the start. It's because he has seen what the true danger of fascism is. The lessons he learned in WWII, unfortunately, are lost on modern day Americans
Great react. Team Cap all the way for me. I always found it funny they were showing the destruction from Avengers (where the gov was planning to nuke NYC anyways) and Cap 2 (where it was a gov agency infiltrated by Hydra that was planning on mass murdering millions) as reasons to let another gov org take control of the Avengers. Plus Tony and Black Panther on the side of the Accords and immediately breaking them with Tony recruiting an unsanctioned Spider-Man and BP (understandably) seeking revenge for his father.
I mean... the people who made the movie knew what they were doing. They didn't call it "Avengers: Civil War" they called it "Captain America: Civil War". There's clearly a right side and a wrong side, and the movie tells us that again and again. Tony is the villain, and Ross is clearly in the wrong; the movie is showing him being wrong because he IS wrong.
@SchulzEricT actually, if you ever have the time to watch the interviews from the writers and directors, that isn't what they were doing. Yes the Ross's Brothers favorites Steve and this movie is were they took over and changes some of the storylines that had been set up earlier in the franchise. But they tried to make in where neither side were wrong nor right and pulled in a lot of real world laws andstuff like that. They did a couple of screen tests to make sure the audience were split 50/50. It is a Captain America movie because it is his fall from grace and where he had to finally make a selfish choice over his duty and hold to it. He walked away from his duty to the people and embraced his own wants and needs. He decided he would do it his way. Throughout the whole movie he's world was being thrown apart. Peggy's death, Bucky being hunted and the team falling apart. But the most crucial part is that he himself is compromised by it all and making poor choices left and right. This is a call back to his first movie. A good man vs a good soldier. On the other hand were Steve does get it all in the end, Stark had to face just as much loss as Steve gains throughout the movie. His part shows what true accountability is. He lost Pepper and his place on the team after Age of Ultron. He lost the team in the end and will have to stand alone holding the world up. He essentially became the last one standing against the bad.
Yep. The only argument they really had was Sokovia/Ultron, which is why it worked so well on Tony who was dealing with the guilt of being directly responsible for that.
I'm on Tony's side. There's only one reason I suppose, if you take Steve's side then in the end, you really won't know the difference between the right thing and the thing you want.
When Howard recognized Bucky, that was the moment that this movie moved into #2 MCU behind Winter Soldier. The Russos didn't have to put that in there. Bucky would have been a face as etched into his mind as Steve's. The idea that Howard idolized Steve so much that he spent the rest of his life trying to recreate the Super Soldier Serum only for Hydra to kill him & steal it the moment that he did combined with the added sadness that Howard's last moment would have been the confusion of being killed by a familiar face is just so...I don't even know the word. Just...so good. I just haven't had a feeling like that from any recent Marvel movie.

The avengers having to deal with the leaders of countries around the world rather than just showing up and leaving as they pleased isn't a bad thing, how it was handled was far worse than what was actually proposed. An agreement like... we don't go into a country without permission unless its a world ending event would of sorted most of it out and satisfied everyone. The accords weren't the problem, the strong arm tactics being used by both sides were the problem. In the comic books civil war is about heroes having to register their identity and Captain America is against it, obviously Tony has no problem with it. In the end Captain America realizes he is ignoring the will of the people and admits thats wrong, that it isn't for him to unilaterally decide what's best for everyone. Tony however realizes that if he had been more understanding, and less of an ass about how he went about trying to get his way the fighting could of been avoided. They change it for the film but the spirit is the same, Captain America is the champion of democracy but is ignoring the democratic process. Like it or not sovereign nations have a right to choose. Tony, instead of making a calmer case is guilt ridden and is trying to strong arm everyone and people don't like being pushed into something.
This is such a well thought out response and I love how logically you approached this. I agree that the accords really weren't the problem. It was how it was all handled. I think the fights and conflicts could have been avoided if they'd had better communication and compromised a bit. Although, what would be the fun in that? It's interesting how much guilt is a motivator for Tony. He has shown, throughout these movies to almost completely change his ideology as soon as he's blamed for something terrible. This possibly explains why he bonds so well with Peter Parker. Love your reactions, keep up the great work!
It is. And he keeps trying his best.
As much as Steve wants to be righteous and responsible, her did Tony wrong. Now I get it Bucky and Steve are best friends, he knew Bucky killed his parents and said nothing to him or about it
As it turns out, with great power there must also come great responsibility. Who knew?
"I'm gonna sit here, so you move the leg."
Robert Downey Jr. improvised that little line and made it sound so naturally Tony. Tom Holland had his leg up on the bed, but Tony has to sit down next to him in the scene. So Downey makes it part of the scene without even thinking about it.

It was Iron Man 2, actually. Tony should know better - did know better then - that you don't just hand over your power to the government.

@@johnwalkeristhatdude3018 They didn't "invade" Nigeria. They prevented Brock "Crossbones" Rumlow from stealing a deadly biological weapon. Murder is a deliberate act.

Could you explain why your head was with Steve? Aside from the end fight with Bucky of course, he was wrong about everything else.

My 2nd favorite MCU film. Zemo was a fantastic character. He used his brain to tear the Avengers apart, and it worked brilliantly. The airport fight scene was one of the best in the franchise. I'm looking forward to watching you continue your journey with these movies.
Zemo is very impressive as a villain. He did more damage to the Avengers than anyone up to this point.
22:45 Saying "You should really be wearing a helmet. That is so dangerous" to Bucky was just so hilarious to me. 😂😂 Love your reactions!
It's just that it was him but with his mind brainwashed, ya know? And he knew it, too. Which makes it more horrific.

I've seen almost all of these films, but it's been fun experiencing them again through your eyes. Really loving this reaction series!
43:28 nope, sam would've still had his wings. All he'd have done is glided down and been safe. Thats why Tony told vison to "turn him into a glider".

RIP Chadwick Boseman, Stan Lee, and William Hurt. In 1991 I was 7 years old.

He's been Black Panther for some time before this. His father passed the role to his younger, physically, more capable son while he remained king.

The moment at 26:21 where Tony asks Steve to sign the Accords is such a lovely scene.

Vision was targeting Sam to turn him into a glider (he has wings) by shutting his engine, however, Rhodey suit does not have wings.
When Peter was talking to Tony about bad things happening after he got his powers and they happened because of him, he was talking about Uncle Ben dying.
Sam had wings. If Vision had taken out his thrusters, he could have glided to the ground. That's why Rhodes said, "turn him into a glider".
Lol somehow people keep missing that part. Smh die-hard fans man
When Tony told Peter to "move the leg, I'm gonna sit here...", it was an improvised line, bc Peter actually missed his mark to move his leg. It was supposed to be a blooper, BC it fit so well, they kept it in...
In a deleted scene when Clint and Nat were fighting:
Nat: Don’t you think Laura would be disappointed?
Clint: Who, in me or you?
In another deleted scene, Nat watches the fight in horror after recovering from Wanda’s attack. While evading War Machine, Cap loses his shield. Bucky grabs it and throws it to War Machine. It bounces off of him and Falcon throws it back to Cap.
Cap: Nice save.
Bucky: I gotta get me one of those.
What’s most interesting about Zemo is that he messed with the Avengers without laying a finger with them. CinemaWins goes into further detail as to how and why his plan worked.
In the Latin Spanish dub, when Tony grabs Bucky in the silo, the dialogue gets changed a bit but holds the same meaning:
Tony: Do you at least remember my parents?

FFS.
Ok I cried with this comment cause I’m Tony in this world. Damn I got the feelings. 🥺
@@MrKingYujiBucky didn’t choose to do any of it, and Steve was saving and protecting his friend!
I guess nobody wants to talk about Sam racing to try to save Rhodey from his own stupidity (Which Saint Tony, nor Vision, who can change his density and travel at speeds of 700MPH, failed to do). 😂
@@thedivareview I basically disagree with everything in your comment, but I'm just going to say that no one is talking about Sam having a parachute. The wings themselves would have been enough to allow him to glide safely to the ground.
@@babadoudidadouda the wings that would be destroyed by the laser?🤨 The lack of a parachute that is also on the back of his suit with his wings? No it would have shot him the same way it got Rhody only unlike rhody who has a full suit of armor on sam has a light vest. He would've died.
My biggest reason for not agreeing with the accords right away is that they had no chance to negotiate. The government just showed up and pushed the rules on their faces, like that's ever gonna work smoothly. Had they left room for negotiation, I would've sided with Tony.
What's to negotiate? You either let the Avengers do their thing or you handcuff them. And the latter is all political, and absurd.
@@MoMoMyPup10 If they want rules to make things safer, just "do as we tell you" is not enough. But you live and learn, now they know that nuances exist and the rules should've accounted for it.
@@DCMarolas it's one of the reasons that the comic book world and the real world can't coexist.

Yes! Such a great line ❤️
But when were they ever friends? It would make sense if it was coming from Nat or anyone else on the team, but Steve and Tony went from openly hostile to grudging mutual respect while constantly disagreeing. IMO that line only emphasized how skewered Tony's view is.

Technically Sam still has wings so he would have glided instead of crashing.
And he has a parachute, we see it at the end of the winter soldier when Bucky rips a wing off.
Don't forget his emergency parachute...
Problem is the beam was on target to hit the wing pack, which means if it had hit the pack spotless have been destroyed. That means reslustically, no power. No power wings go limp which means no gliding and depending on the damage done its very possible that the parachute could have been destroyed too. Or at least been rendered inoperable.
In short that blast had the potential to kill Sam just as easily work or without those back up measure
Yeah, Tony even says "turn him into a glider". He was going to cut the power and therefore the thrusters, but lift would have carried him to the ground.

When I first watched it I was Team Cap, not that I blame Tony at all. After viewing it multiple times, omg the betrayal and hurt that Tony must have felt when he found out Steve knew this whole time but did not bother to tell him. People's reactions to this movie have been divided as to who they think is right. There are the ones who are Team Cap and there are those who are Team Iron Man, depending on everyone's different perspectives and points of view.
And that is the beauty of this film .... that it is able to take a pop culture superhero movie and introduce concepts that are complicated and make us really think, not just in terms of black and white but to also consider all the grey areas; just like in real life situations.
the truth is only one and that is one steve's side on this movie and we all know vengeance is not a solution and justice for someone doing wrong and it also not fair when bucky don't have any control over him. i like iron man but for that i can't be an idiot to support wrong side objectively.

(Also: Peter's philosophy is "with great power comes great responsibilities." Tony's stance - the Accord's demand - is "your power, OUR responsibility." And because Tony doesn't want to feel guilty, he's willing to accept taking orders, no matter how moral or immoral, in order to assuage his guilt. They clearly chose having Tony manipulate Peter, the last person who'd sign the Accords, for that reason: to show that Tony's the villain.)

Team Cap all the way! I agree that the Captain America trilogy is fantastic. This movie did not disappoint! Thanks for watching ❤️

Tony invented Ultron. But its Wanda's fault why he created Ultron.
Also, your reaction to each new character that (unexpectedly) showed up was worth watching the whole video. Especially when you saw Ant Man appear. 😀
Even if you don't know anything and if you take captain's side then you know you're on the right side. ❤
Plus Tony and Black Panther on the side of the Accords and immediately breaking them with Tony recruiting an unsanctioned Spider-Man and BP (understandably) seeking revenge for his father.
yeah, they were trying to make it one sided against the heroes and show the public "Avengers bad, government good"
Yep, stark (not Stark) government hypocrisy.
I mean... the people who made the movie knew what they were doing.
Steve's awkward road trip with his current bestie and his abusive ex.
That's definitely one way to put it 😂
I'm on Tony's side.
