Found this very informative. I could hear the difference between styles. Only after you pointed it out. Watched 👀 this 3 times. Thanks 😊.I try to learn what I can so when I see a performance I have some understanding of what an artist is doing.

I'm glad! It's definitely in the details when it comes to trombone (and any instrument) performing!

I didn't even look at who posted this video. It just came up on my recommendations and I was like "yeah, I should probably watch that." Hello! Looking forward to this

ooo, I've been pretty okay with 1 and 3, but 2. THE WRIST was new to me! Now to just PRACTICE MORE. (stupid trumpet takin' up all my time, lol)
      Thank you for this video!

Oh WOW! I’m glad the algorithm decided to have you drop by :)
Yep, the wrist can make a good bit of difference! It’s really about keeping fluidity in the slide movement, which is annoying to balance with the snappiness you need for slower tempos. Such is trombone life lol

Great video! What level do you teach? Middle school, high school or college?
I would kill to be able to play fast like you did on the bumblebee just now. It has never come to me no matter how much I've practiced. Would love to hear your tips on that.

Thanks so much! I've taught students at all of those levels, though a lot I have now are on the younger side. If I had some tips, I think I'd say that for me, I'm thinking more about groups of notes as a single movement--for example, D down to Bb chromatically is 1-5-1, then we have another little ditty with the Eb, which I think of as more "shapes" (like, in, out, in) rather than individual positions. It's a bit hard to explain!
