Thank you. I always replace cabin filters myself since discovering a Halfords expert had put one in upside down in my old grand scenic. Actually just realised mine is a MK 3 and so an easier job : )
The only material difference between a Halfords Interim Service and Full Service (as opposed to Main Service) is the air filter. Other differences are merely 'checks'. Now I will save money and do it myself. Thanks for the really simple video.
Thanks mate.. you just helped me out so much. Only issue i had was getting myself back out of the footwell ! upside down, and 2 stone overweight, and i was proper wedged in :-))
On a car with left-hand steering, you need to remove the accelerator/ gas pedal (three nuts) to reach the air filter. The video was great and helpful anyway.
This comment also helpfully, I have repair handbook and it's based of a right-hand drive car, mine is left so surprise again when I tear down the glowedepartment to get better view there is two ac lines that is in the way for the hatch...
I feel your pain... I have done the same job several times on my C-MAX, left hand drive... In that case you also have accelerator to remove and brake pedal that you cannot remove easily to make this wonderful procedure even worse...
Done this couple of times, but after watching your video damn, just realised I've put it sideways haha. Got to do it again and put it right. Thanks. Best videos and good explanation, very helpful.
Hi, I’ve watched a few of your videos now, which are great 👍🏻. Nothing to do with cabin filter, would you know how to remove the vanity mirror light without breaking it as I seem to have a loose connection.
Always like your videos ... no skipping past the hard bits. Let me know when you change the clutch on this lol I'm thinking of putting a solid mass flywheel on
But, keep in mind - if you have automatic gearbox, gearbox oil has to be changed every 35.000 miles. I'll make a video about that as well at some point.
Same here! If I go buy a car that has no main stealer servicing and history/receipts of private servicing then all the better...I'd buy it. The dealers don't do what they say they do...they cut corners and don't care. I had my S Max in for a partial service (just oil and filters)...they over topped the oil by a good half again...plus they curbed the passenger front wheel resulting in a repair of wheel and new tyre. They fixed that but I've heard too many stories like this. They care about selling new...not looking after old! I can do a full service on my S Max for £130 using Mobil oil and decent parts. I know its done. Bit of time but lots of learning too.
I remember when I first bought my S Max, second hand, I said I’d keep up the Ford dealership service on it which I think was £250, left it with them, they rang me a couple of hours later to say the water pump was knackered and would cost £450 including labour + servicing @ £250 totalling £700, luckily they hadn’t started the service so I told them no to touch anything I’m taking the car as I had a gut feeling something wasn’t right here, I brought the car to my own mechanic who I’d used for years and he informed the pump itself was fine and just need a simple seal replacing, plus his servicing with bulbs and everything included was £120, big difference eh, so I too don’t care for dealership stamps, there a bunch of rip-off cowboys.
Hi got a galaxy same model well it's 2014 with 48,000miles do you think I should replace it by now? Can't really tell if the air blow is reduced or not feels the same since new.
"simply slide it in" lol....what a pain in the ass this job is! They make it harder and harder for people to do simple servicing! Still, better than on a left hand drive car! You have to unbolt the accelerator in which case....F that! Thanks for this video - very helpful indeed!
Ok so if you disconnect battery and then the green plug then grey plug then the large 2 wire power feed then unhook looms from fuse box this will give you so much more room to work. 👍
Hi did you instal this filterin righthello thanks for the movie that really helps a lot. but I have one shame for you too, you put the filter on like the previous mechanic. wrong direction of flow. watch the movie again
I have watched few times, I even watched the original file - I can confirm that new filter I inserted with the arrow pointing back, the correct way. Thanks for your comment 😊👍
It is possible, but economically not reasonable if you want it to be done properly. Because it's not only steering wheel and dash, it's pedals, brake lines, few bits under the bonnet... Better sell right and buy left-hand drive ready.
How many of those miles are yours? How is the air flow? If you had the car for a while and not sure when it was done - definitely go for it. They are not expensive. However, if you are getting decent air flow through your vents - might as well keep the old one :)
Just don't pull it out by plastic hoses, because apparently they can snap (I had a comment on that). Try gently lift the edge with something like screwdriver.
The best thing would be calling Ford dealership or specific part shop and explain what you are looking for. Alternatively, I know one website listing parts with part numbers, try this one, have a look in menu, they have Ford: www.lllparts.co.uk/en/
Which I had time get a second gearbox fitted last year, after being sold this car with gearbox fault. Me not knowing anything purchased it for £7500. I got stang.
I find it pretty easy to replace that filter with all wires still connected to fuse box. But if you need to disconnect it completely, I don't think there's much wrong with that - just a lot of hassle :)
Hi anyone can help me I have a Ford Galaxy PowerShift 2012 it does shake little bit only when I take off but if I'm up the hill taking off it shake too much like DDDD thank you
You're welcome 😉 As for harder - Nissan X-Trail T31, left hand drive is real fun for pollen filter, you have to make a butterfly before putting it in swerving around pedals..
What a Terrible place to put a Serviceable filter, like the Oil filter😂 Fortunately for me this was made easier by the previous owner ony putting 2 Screws back😅
In my Galaxy -14 there are tubes from the ac unit blocking the plastic lid(!) Anybody who knows how to proceed? Aha ok, my car is a left-hand steering. So you have to remove the accelerator /gas pedal (threenuts) to reach the air filter.
FORD should be charged for criminal conduct! In some cars you just open your glove compartment to reach and replace the air filter. Takes only 1 min !!!
Haha :))) , I agree it can be a bit of a struggle, but it wasn't that bad. In fact when I replaced that filter second time - I did it in about 10 minutes. Practice makes perfect ;)
Right team, here’s the challenge. We want you to find the most stupid place possible to put the cabin air filter. Great video, thanks!
😁👍
FORD COULD NOT HAVE DESIGNED A MORE STUPID PLACE TO PUT A FILTER!!!! YOU DONE A GREAT JOB,
Thanks Michael 😊👍
Thank you. I would have never ever found it without this video
You're welcome. They have put it in a tricky place 😉
Thank you. I always replace cabin filters myself since discovering a Halfords expert had put one in upside down in my old grand scenic.
Actually just realised mine is a MK 3 and so an easier job : )
This is something that some mechanics forget to do when they do full service.
I found this a very easy job because I am an octopus with no bones in my arms! Great video. Thank you as always.
😁👍
The only material difference between a Halfords Interim Service and Full Service (as opposed to Main Service) is the air filter. Other differences are merely 'checks'. Now I will save money and do it myself. Thanks for the really simple video.
You're welcome Charles, you're right - all these Bronze, Silver and Gold services are nonsense for people who know something about car maintenance :)
Thanks mate.. you just helped me out so much. Only issue i had was getting myself back out of the footwell ! upside down, and 2 stone overweight, and i was proper wedged in :-))
Good exercise though 😉

Nightmare, my dad has Nissan X-Trail, left hand drive.. Also difficult.
That's insane.
What a pain in arse this job was. Thanks for your video pal, very helpful as always. 👌
Thanks Rob :)
Yea I’ll never be doing that again ! Good vid👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks David, glad if it helps 🍺😊👍
Thanks for making this, I’ve just successfully changed my filter, your video was very helpful! 😁
You're very welcome Katie 👍
Hiya , thank you so much for this video , explained it well , even a novice like me did it relatively quickly.
Cars are easy once you start DIY.
You're welcome 👍

Sorry, that car has gone, and I don't know 😔
Thanks mate, I have actually involved the octopus to complete the task👍
It's handy to have an octopus in the garage. Apparently, they have 9 brains and 3 hearts.
Thanks for the video. Can't believe they made it so difficult to get at!
You're welcome 👍
Always like your videos ... no skipping past the hard bits. Let me know when you change the clutch on this lol I'm thinking of putting a solid mass flywheel on
Thanks :) That thing is automatic, so no clutch change - sorry..
Thank you for posting this video make easy life for some of us.
You're welcome 😎👍
Great video! Saying goodbye to main dealer servicing. Will be changing my 2011 S-Max's filter (and others) tomorrow. Thanks!

My car(bought 3 days ago) does not have that bottom cover. Have to get it. Thanks for the video! :)
You're welcome 👍
A serviceable item in such a convenient place. I'm selling the car.
Thanks for this heads up video.
Just did my smax. What a stupid design having the fuse board in the way!
Glad it helped
Gymnastic mechanic ... great vid again can’t wait to try it myself ... hope you’re back was ok 👍🍺
You're very welcome 😷👍
Thanks for this video!
You're welcome 👍
nice easy to undestand video. I will do my filter today.
Thanks Bob! Glad if it helps :)
Great video mate- wish id seen it 2 years ago when I did the Mrs Galaxy lol - doing it again shortly and this will save so much time
You're welcome :)

You're welcome 😎👍
Cheers Mate, you save me a lot of stress and @#@@***, so easy when you know where it is and how to !!!
Knowledge is the power 😊👍
Great advice and video.Thank you
You're welcome 👍
Easy peesy,good videoThank.
You're welcome 👍
Perfect video mate just did it really 15 minutes job
Yes, thanks. lots of people or even garages like to ignore pollen filter as part of the service.
Hi got a galaxy same model well it's 2014 with 48,000miles do you think I should replace it by now? Can't really tell if the air blow is reduced or not feels the same since new.
It all depends how dusty is the region you live in. I would replace by 48.000 miles - it's not difficult or expensive.
*tusen takk kjære venn du er så flink mekaniker*
Thanks for explaining
You'r e welcome :)
"simply slide it in" lol....what a pain in the ass this job is! They make it harder and harder for people to do simple servicing! Still, better than on a left hand drive car! You have to unbolt the accelerator in which case....F that! Thanks for this video - very helpful indeed!

In Tesla you have to fight a final boss before you can change the cabin filter.
😁 I wish I could make a video on that one... Not my league unfortunately
Ok so if you disconnect battery and then the green plug then grey plug then the large 2 wire power feed then unhook looms from fuse box this will give you so much more room to work. 👍
Pretty much 😏👍

Great video, awkward to do but video helped alot
Thanks 😊 Glad if it helps.
May the force be with you 🛸
Good video
Thanks 😊👍
Hi,it is possible to convert right-to-left steering wheel to Ford Galaxy 2008?,Thanx.
It is possible, but economically not reasonable if you want it to be done properly. Because it's not only steering wheel and dash, it's pedals, brake lines, few bits under the bonnet... Better sell right and buy left-hand drive ready.
Does this actually make a huge difference to the cabin??
Depends how dirty is the filter. If dirty, then changing it makes huge difference - tonns of fresh air with little effort from blower motor
@@wawayltd well my s max has done 76000 miles and unsure when it was done, if ever!! So would you recommend doing so?
How many of those miles are yours? How is the air flow? If you had the car for a while and not sure when it was done - definitely go for it. They are not expensive. However, if you are getting decent air flow through your vents - might as well keep the old one :)
@@wawayltd Only recently bought it. I will have a look tomorrow air flow wise! Thanks bud
Good job ;)
Thanks 👍
Ford’s design is really bad. it’s like mounting a nuclear warhead
I do like my VW better, but some things on Ford are not too badly designed - fuel filter for example..
Yeah fuel filter does look fairly easy....doing that today I think...wish me luck - S Max 2.2 TDCI 2008..
Just don't pull it out by plastic hoses, because apparently they can snap (I had a comment on that). Try gently lift the edge with something like screwdriver.
@@wawayltd .shame they dont do a decent petrol engine, thats the only down side to a vw everything else is pretty dam good

What about a 2019 newer model s max ??
No idea, sorry. Probably, could be something similar.
Was going well until the metal clip at the start! Couldn't get it to come out like shown
Give up shortly after
What is this cover in 00:41 called? Do anyone have a part number for it as mine is missing...
The best thing would be calling Ford dealership or specific part shop and explain what you are looking for.

Yeah, these gearboxes can be sensitive and require regular servicing, oil change.
Merci beaucoup 😊
You're very welcome 👍
thank you
You're welcome :)
Is not better to disconnect fuse box?
I find it pretty easy to replace that filter with all wires still connected to fuse box. But if you need to disconnect it completely, I don't think there's much wrong with that - just a lot of hassle :)
Hi anyone can help me I have a Ford Galaxy PowerShift 2012 it does shake little bit only when I take off but if I'm up the hill taking off it shake too much like DDDD thank you
Do you know that PowerShift gearbox need service (oil and filter change)? Whan was the last time gearbox oil was changed?
I have z 2014 Ford Galaxy 2.0 dual automatic.
What the bolt size?
10mm
Don't be angry with the designer, when he was young, his dad screwed his toys to the ceiling.
😁
Thanks. 👍
Not sure Ford could have made that any harder. 🙄
