I had one with a twisted neck that I got rid of but I do miss the sound. Oddly as long as the bass was strung up the neck was pretty straight, however if you unstrung it the neck made a left turn.
Thanks for noticing. Only people our age will know this jam! I don’t have tabs it would be a lot of notes and I have never made tabs before. I learned this by ear but, put my own spin on it. The original is done by a midi keyboard with a bass sound
I use to be a loyal fender Jazz Bass player, but I try a new bass, I want to feel something different, that was the Stingray, and now I a loyal Stingray bass player. But that doesn’t means fender sucks. Fender is awesome, but stingray, In my personal opinion, is a bass that fits in a lot of styles. And Warwick is another level!.
Yes it does! The stingray fits in many different styles! The fender sound I feel like a lot of people use there’s not a whole lot that stands out to me about it. Warwick is unique for sure it has its own thing like the other two but less common.
Since You seemingly own all of the aforementioned basses, maybe You`d be so kind to make similar video using all three instruments in the context of the song? How they tie with drums and guitars? I like Warwicks (particularly Thumb), but they somehow seem to be limited to some particular styles, where Stingray and Jazz are a simple go-to solution to most of songs. What would be Your opinion?
+Stereogun I agree with your statement about the Thumb. For me honestly, It sounds so amazing and clear by itself with your favorite eq settings when your just jamming by yourself.. however when you bring those same settings to a band mix it sometimes sounds off. When the whole band is playing you really need to eq that bass to a "band" setting with loud guitars and drums, if that is where you will be seen and heard by most. So when you eq your bass to sound good for the band.. playing it by itself can then sound off to me. That is what I have noticed. I feel like the Thumb bass doesn't have those deep, deep low frequencies like 20-40 hz because of the small body. I guess it just depends on what you want to use it for. It's a tool and sometimes certain tools don't work as good as other tools depending on the circumstances. All in all though it comes down to the player and the music, it all starts with something simple as your hands! But that's what is making all the music and I feel that should be the main focus is playing the best you possibly can.
@@Halfpastseven I agree The thumb has no problem standing out with a lot of band noise. A perfect example is mudvayne's dig. That nasaly zing it has can actually stand out better the problem as you mentioned is the low end. The tone is mostly the electronics though and not the wood. I have a luthier friend and a sound engineer friend and both say wood tone is minimal in electric instruments, theres some videos on youtube proving it. I have a Lakland skyline55-02 and it is a huge bass and is bright. My small bass the Ibanez sr2605 has way more low end and growl, it's the pickups. If you want to just fatten the sound this bass isn't it. I %100 agree about sound coming from the fingers and I wish I learned it earlier. From how you attack the string to where you play, close to the neck or bridge, makes a huge difference. I found my tone is in curly the fingertips in a little and digging in more like a pick. Great video great playing. Time to get off RUclips and go practice lol
@@jasonz1771 The pickup placement of a 5 string Thumb (and Thumb Bolt On) could partly be the reason why it doesn't have the deep low end.. Streamers do have the rumble, as their neck pickups are closer to the neck.
@@cd0u50c9 dude those arent even the same pickups. Yes pickups closer to the deck are deeper in tone but those thumb pickups have a very different tone.
@@Halfpastseven That and the pickups are so close to the bridge (regarding the thumb and it's low frequencies). Do you have an opinion on a corvette and it's body size/ pickup placement, as a "solution" to the thumbs "issues"? Tonaly speaking*, as the ergonomic issues and neck dive are certainly cured to some extent. Cheers.
What bass sounds best is like asking “How long is a piece of string (and will its colour work with my wardrobe)?” Everyone has a genre/technique that they like, with a particular bass sound. It depends on what you dig. Use what speaks to you authentically. “Horses for courses”
That's a clever little part. I think the Stingray actually sounds the best. It's natural and open with just the right kind of top end.
Thank you glad you dig the stingray!
Nicely done! The sound of the thumb just brings a smile to my face. I own one myself and I haven't wanted for another bass since then.

Can't beat that Warwick my friend! Another amazing video. Nothing short of perfect!
The Warwick is so awesome! Thanks for checking it out! Glad you liked it!!
All sound fantastic but the Sting Ray steals it.. Such calming playing!
... and the Thumb for fingerstyle.... mellow!
1:55 Thumb sounds like a classic guitar with nylon strings!
It does!
I give this one to the stingray
Man the Thumb sounds so dope . Unfortunately I have had 3 and just can’t bond with them ergonomically.
This is the theme from Gran Turismo 2 garage! Awesome! Do you have tabs or sheets for this? I have been searching for this for a long time

I hear the gran turismo 2 garage music from that fender on the first round
Yup! I tried recreating it! The real thing is a midi bass
Cool basses and tone👍👍 can you play the same notes on a 6 sting bass like the ibanze btb. ☺☺👍👍and good job and keep rocking.
Thank you!

I like to think of the Stingray as the final phase of the Fender bass's evolution. Leo Fender built it after all.
@@LivinInMyNaNaNaNaEra G&L is the final phase of the Fender bass's evolution.. it takes the stingray to another level
Excellent! Well Done!

Yeah, gran turismo 2's music is the shit!
Glad you can recognize it! Such a classic!
It's between the Fender and the Warwick which she's got a pretty unique sounding
Thank you! Love unique
