I watched your last few videos out of order so I hope that doesn't make my commenting extra confusing for you!
I hope Rachel had an awesome birthday... you certainly did a lot to make her feel special. 💞

I sympathize with Rachel and her allergies. I'm 3 years older than her and am allergic to corn, soy, egg, and the carrot/celery family. I'm glad that you have the tools to be able to accommodate her allergies so she can still have a great birthday celebration. ♡ My boyfriend made me fudge for valentines with my safe ingredients. It's the little things that really goes a surprising way.

Usually they bite like that because it's a love thing cats nip at each other not just when not happy but when they are too.

Wacky cake! My first cake also, though we did it with cool water. When we got home from church my mom would say "want to whip up a wacky?" and I always wanted to. We served it plain (not frosted, or whatever) and that sort of crispy top is still a great memory. It was probably the only recipe I took when I went to college. Recently I went through my loose recipes and I think I have 3 jotted quickly versions of it and I saved them all. One was taped inside my cupboard door for years and is filthy, haha, and yet now it's in the recipe binder. Since I do everything differently now I am inspired to try to recreate this a bit more healthfully. Then I'll teach the 8 yo grands so their mom can ask them to whip up a wacky after church. Traditions!
I did look up an ingredient list for the tomato sauces. I buy tomato puree in large cans for when I run out of "homegrown" sauce. I use Real(TM) salt and the same herbs basically as the Raos. I don't typically add oil if I'm going to can it. Raos' other claim to fame is that it uses no paste and only Italian tomatoes (not sure if they are only from Italy or they are italian paste tomato varieties). I'll bet that there are copycat recipes available if someone in your household was up for the challenge? Real Life Skills, haha. I wouldn't bother copying Hunt's. I looked at the ingredients.😮
You were mentioning frugal meals the other day. I did a lot of food economy while my kids were young but pretty early on I started switching things up for health. My husband had non-hodgkin lymphoma when he was 35, his second life threatening cancer diagnosis. (spoiler, praise God, he made it and we've been married for more than 4 decades). Anyway, some things I eliminated and some I "fixed" with better ingredients. Mostly people believe that organic food costs more but I think that processed foods cost more, in $ and health. In December and January I spent about $130 each (for the month, not week) on food groceries. I don't think that I've purchased groceries this month so far though when I go by the Amish store I'll get a 50# bag of wheat grain. I have a deep pantry of staples (shelf stable and freezer and I trade eggs for milk).
And, here is my true confession - Despite the lower cost at the grocery store (but high amount of work, trust me, ha) I fail on the daily to make dinner. So, I keep feeling convicted about keeping the kitchen ready to work in and being willing to JUST make the plan and do it.

We called it Crazy Cake and always served it with homemade whipped cream. So fun to read the other names for it and traditions.

You got so many nice things for Rachel. Yes, she has it difficult, and it’s so wonderful that you can find things to make and buy that will be okay for her to eat and that she likes. I can see how much you love your children.

Hey Karen, I hope Rachel had a great Birthday, I posed a comment yesterday, but my phone was playing up so not sure it posted. Anyway, I think the cake recipe sounded delicious, it is so nice how you take care of her dietary requirements with such attention to what will make things seem special. Plus, the “two-fa” comment made me smile, as my brother’s birthday is in early Jan and he often got one larger Christmas/birthday present from his friends rather than two separate presents, which I always thought was a little unfair. So, yes to her having two celebrations! I also, thought the presents you got for her special day were so thoughtful. I watch a lot of BookTube and I have a Goodreads account too, so I know a lot of people Rachel’s age loved the Legends and Lattes book, so I think Rachel will probably like it as well. I was just watching the movie One Day based on a book by David Nichols when I say your video had been posted. Have you seen this film? If not I highly recommend it. I think Rachel and Yvonne may possibly like that book too. They have just made it into a series for Netflix and people are bing watching it. Btw Did you know Danni Rearranged has started to make over her bathroom too, or rather Ian (her husband has). I posted a comment on her latest video saying that you were also doing a bathroom makeover and that you have often given a shout out to her channel. I am really hoping that people reading her comments section, will hope-on over to your channel and check you out, so you can increase your subscribers.

I think that wool kit is called ‘Felting’? At least that’s what we call it here. I tried it for a short time but my poor hands, I’m so clumsy .
I don’t ever get tired of seeing you fold laundry, it’s part of the routine for most of us plus I like you get to sit for a few minutes, you’re always on the go on camera. 😊
As always much love and light to you.❤️🥰🥰🥰

Also, if you have never bought the Ripple Half and Half, it's SO good and so creamy like real heavy cream plus I think it has pea protein in it which makes it more nutritionally dense. Get it!! You will love it.
