    Hi Matt! I am one of the few people in the world that actually carry a bo staff, but it’s with a catch- it is my flagpole, so swinging a strike with a flag attached will slow the strike sort of like a parachute.
    You are basically the gold standard of anyone’s videos I have seen.
    I do volunteer mission work around the world, and I run with the flag everywhere, though to show respect I usually run with the foreign countries flag while in an American flag long sleeve shirt.
    As you probably know, carrying weapons in other countries is often a big no-no and getting thrown into a foreign prison is FAR worse than it would be here.
    I should mention I’m also a correction officer with about 18 years experience, so I’m not delusional about how real life altercations work (like most men we)
    I would very much like to meet you in person and consult with you one day- what state are you in?
    Thank you for your fantastic free content!

      Thank you Jeremiah! That’s a cool idea. How heavy is your flag pole. I used to love running with the platoon guide on (flag pole). It was heavy and a great workout. I am in southeast Florida.

      @@pasquinilli I have a few different ones- the one I carry to other countries is a 2 piece lightweight 200cm bow staff with holes drilled- medium striking has loosened a rivet so I am thinking of switching to a much heavier 200cm bow staff - I ordered both from China- the light weight was working well until the river started coming out doing the crotch tap drill from your video.

    Where do you get a well balanced staff that could actually be used for defense? I've ordered two, and both would snap in a second.

    • @pasquinilli
      @pasquinilli  3 года назад +9

      I got tired of breaking them too and asked my friend who makes self defense canes to custom make a bo for self defense. Get it here: bit.ly/360peHW you will pay a little more but won’t have to keep buying them when they break. So Overall it’s less expensive. Go for hickory. Strong and heavy and smoother than any staff you have likely ever used. Like butter in your hands! I love mine and look forward to training with it just for the feel of it.

    so my dad was a cop so growing up i learned alot of mixed martial arts kali was one of my favorite well to give u the short version im out of shape and finally got away from a very abusive person . well back in 2012 before i got with thiis person i went out of a 5 story building it changed everything they literally had to put my left hand together and my wrist has not alot of movement along with my thumb literally stuck in where i cant make a flat palm or little things like that . i havent done any martial arts are sticking for over 9 years years but i want to get into shape and be who i was before that could defend herself and what my question what would be your advice . it feels weird when i do the sticks because how my wrist and thumb and my dad passed away so i just need some advice if you have time thank you .

    • @pasquinilli
      @pasquinilli  Год назад

      Thanks for your question April. If you start slowly, there is a good chance you will either get more movement in the wrist and thumb or you will adapt how you move and get better over time. Either way, get started now and let your body figure it out. You will be able to do it and you will get stronger, more capable of defending yourself, and more confident. 2023 will be a great year for you!

    Unless you are a woman, you won't get this. The best advice my father ever gave me... When you have a man by his neck and his nuts...He is yours. And yes ladies, please remember. Hit the soft tissue. Chest and head shots from a petite woman do nothing to a large or crazy man. Thank You Matt

    • @alswedgin9274
      @alswedgin9274 11 месяцев назад

      You can even use the difference in size to your advantage. To name but a few: your aggressor needs to lower their aim which can be used to throw them off balance; You indeed have a closer strike range towards what you call 'soft tissue', include organs like the 'liver' and complex but reachable joints like the knees. I could continue but i will leave it up to your imagination from here on. "Size/strenght doesn't matter if you got your own style of Self-defense.".
