Hey folks! It's been a busy month dealing with the book tour and related endeavours. More videos to come soon including the 83 crossing the Labrador Peninsula series! Stay tuned. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from my family to yours!
Was wondering what it was I was hearing. Sounded a bit like some kind of Irish to me. And lo and behold, it probably is. Makes watching this video even more interesting.
Fantastic! Thanks so so much for documenting your experience out there in the bush. It really shows how difficult the olden days were; could you imagine doing what you did without modern clothing, waterproofs, gear, vehicles, high powered rifles and scopes! I really like that you tipped your hat to the ancestors who scratched out a life in that harsh land.
Man that was a fantastic video! There’s something empowering about harvesting an animal, and having that meat on the table for your loved ones! Congrats on the beautiful caribou! Merry Christmas!
Congrats on your first caribou! I know how dearly you cherish the old days and ways of just settled NF. Take it from an old guy, you got it right in the first hunt. Be as you want to be next season, find the herds by networking and then leave before light and settle into a good spot and enjoy the time machine trip. I can see you in the future hunting black powder and bow in traditional gear. Enjoy the good food and thank the caribou for her gift of life to you and yours. God bless my friend, Craig
Justin buddy. Good on ya to try and do it the old fashioned way with “ two feet and a heartbeat” but man with the last few days of the season you gotta do what you gotta do. I am so glad you got your meat for the winter. Plus getting a guide to help you helps the locals too. You’re a good man. Thanks for sharing the hunt.
guide are for the foreners there fees are high, and if you live were you hunt or with in a 100 miles one should know the land he she hunts, i know the fees of guides as i was one in the 1970's for the usa hunters, or should i say the usa shooters.. and i know what the fees were back then, and they payed them as well as a big tip
@@arnoldromppai5395 the guide in this video wasn't actually on duty. This was more a friendly hangout/hunt. I know the area well but he knows it better. Last day of the hunt had to get serious
Nice cow caribou, Justin. Yeah, that was a lot more tender than one of those gnarly old bulls, I'm sure. I've had a couple permits for and have harvested cow elk, and they were much more tender than bulls I've eaten. Congrats on that successful hunt. Looking forward to many years of fishing and hunting videos from you! Thanks.
You have a couple of good friends in Gerald and Rumsy. Great country, life doesn't get much better than wondering around country like what you are showing. Nice looking dog too. Saku was in his element while on the hunt.
Glad you got your meat for the winter. That vehicle is fantastic! I don't know how you kept walking out across that bog and finding your way back in the dark. I am very impressed. Happy New year in an hour or so. Hope 2020 is your best year ever. Pat from southern Indiana
My girlfriend dumped me because she asked me to be honest with her....would I rather spend a day brook trout fishing or spending it with her....that was the easiest question I ever answered and there she was gone....for anyone who has the speckies addiction, I have fished them on my knees in a six inch wide stream floating my hook down the creek on a leaf and then yanking it off the leaf when it got overtop of the their hiding hole...pulled out six 8 inchers that day, be meal I ever ate...I stuff the carcass with bacon dippers, peppers an onions...oh buddy...awesome...PS I never heard from Suzie again, perfect
Bring me back. Nice country! Thanks for bringing me along with ya. Always a pleasure. Majestic at times I bet but still nothing to be messing with out in the wild. Merry Christmas!!! Look forward to watching more vids. God Bless!
Got my book form my Dad & Mom. Thanks for the autograph and message too. Great Christmas gift. Now for some reading too. My loving wife nudged my parents back home. Lol.
Great episode. Man, that was some thick stuff to go through to get to the caribou. Congrats on the Winter meat. You and Rumsy were a hoot. I thought it was him climbing the tree at 27:04 upping his wood collecting game. Lol.
PS I play the 5 string banjo, a little mandolin, dobro and doghouse bass..love Smiley Bates and Stan Rogers music...love bluegrass music, The Great Big Sea, Loretta McKenna
@@JustinBarbournlexplorer I was born in Windsor and went back to the island year and a half ago to start up a new construction company and ended up in the Arctic. Lifes curveballs. No trees here bud so it's nice to smell that crackle..lol..I'll shoot you some vids of tundra hunting this March/April wolf griz and hopefully wolverine.
Glad you got your caribou, I love caribou taken in late Aug or early Sep with my old recurve traditional bow and arrow. Sure had many great caribou hunting adventures over the years with bow in hand.
Saw it on FB and had to come right over and watch. Nice! I really enjoyed it Justin! I have to tell you this. I told my buddy that I got your book and showed it to him on a recent camping trip. A few weeks later, out of the blue, a fellow youtuber of his sent him your book. He was so excited! Merry Christmas to you and yours. Blessings for a new year! -Mike
Very enjoyable video and a nice, realistic hunt. I have the same military surplus back pack. Really waterproof but what a heavy SOB even when empty! Buddy shouldn't hit metal on metal when splitting the firewood. Been there, done that, and the doctor at the emergency room said I was lucky the metal shard didn't hit an artery. I hope you enjoy the bou burgers as much as I enjoy your videos. Merry Xmas to you and yours.
Merry Christmas to you and your family. Saku looked so happy to be out as usual. It is magnificent. That wind was brutal. Nice to have a warm tent to return to for you and Saku. I can’t imagine how the ancestors held up through that weather with just sheer determination. Makes you respect all they had to do just to survive. You respect the land and appreciate the animal for giving you sustenance. Not for sport. Your description in your videos are so interesting. You can tell a story so well. Hope the book tour went well. Take care and see you soon.
No easy task Justin but you grinded till the last day! Well done brother! Had a couple of beauts help you along the way. Merry Christmas to you, Heather & the pups! 🇨🇦 Doug
Awesome video! Would love to hunt the Caribou and will one day, many meals will be enjoyed as a result of that hunt. those Argos will go thru just about anything!
Gotta love these boys, Margo's got the Cargo, and Reggie's got the rig....Fogo-Twilligate Morton's Harbour and all that good stuff from the Newf...never met a Newf I didn't love working with...the salt of the land and everything what being a Canadian means despite PM Trudeau saying we have no culture...imagine dragging the PM out on the land and understand who we really are...God Bless you boys and I hope you get me moose...I mean Cari boo
@Justin Barbour, what a great video my Canadian Brother. Love the tent, my old prospector I had finally gave up the ghost. The Argo is an amazing machine. Thanks for taking us along on the hunt..Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you....Fred in Thunder Bay,Ontario

Merry Christmas. Great to see you get a caribou. This video was a nice one again. Your weather was not. the best but hey you have to go when the season is on. Nice to have some friends along to help out.......Take care, Bluefin.
Justin I’ve been watching for a year +. You reminded me my Sgt. Major (young version). Newfoundlander’s in Canadian military are well respected. Learn about NFLD Men WW2. I’m an NS vet and I’ll tell ya NFLD men are who you wanna go to war with.
many a time I have finished my hunt on the last day, taking winter meat,on last day choices are what is there to take.as you said the trip is about good times and memories and the kill iss a bonus. But it sure is a good bonus to end the season .enjoyed your videos ..
Nice job on the hunt Justin. I've always found hunts to be more rewarding when you have to put the time in and "earn" it so to speak even if the animal isn't necessary a trophy. You'll eat well this winter. Those argos are bad ass machines!!
indeed it will my son. i have look at every thing 2 some 3 times this old man that loves NFL . enjoy these so much. Thank You For Them . And Hoping To See More Soon > :)

Merry Christmas Justin to you and yours and thank you for sharing your adventures.
It’s easy to understand a single Newfoundlander, but two or more together makes it almost impossible.
lol I agree
Thats what I was thinking-lol
Lol I had the same thought!

Canada is so privileged to have NFLD. Such beautiful, raw, untouched wilderness. What a great country we live in.
Can’t wait to ride my bicycle across your beautiful province, to visit my kid on Fogo, and to meet the outstanding people of Newfoundland!
