Started watching your channel over the winter. You inspired me to pick up the clubs. Didn’t think Golf was a big guy sport. 2 months in, 9 holes every other weekend. Loving it so far! Cant wait to do a whole 18 some time in the future 😊
This is my favorite golf channel on RUclips. I'm so glad you're back! I love the self-deprecating humor. In a weird way I hope that you don't improve that much, just so that you will stay one of us!
Good to see you back! I keep seeing you take your driver past parallel on the backswing. You are losing control coming down and end up adjusting by bringing the club in from the outside. One way to fix this is to practice doing half swings (allow your club to only go to where your arms are parallel to the ground and your club is perpendicular to the ground) and concentrating on rotating your body as your come through the ball. This should fix your 'strong' fades although it will reduce your distance a bit. That distance will come back as you get the hang of it. It's amazing how much distance you can get when you hit the ball more consistently in the center of the clubface by using 1/2 to 3/4 swings. This works well with all your clubs. Watching your video again, I noticed that @1:10, you're trying to show us what you are supposed to be doing and bring the club down hard. That is NOT what you are supposed to be doing. LOL. What you are supposed to be concentrating on is rotating the boding and to where your beltbuckle faces the target as your club is releasing. Your arms/hands should NOT be actively being forced down, rather, the rotation of the hips will pull the club through the slot and generate clubhead speed. You should just be holding on to the club and should almost feel like you are letting gravity pull your arms and club down.
On those short chips. Try using your 8 iron with a putting stroke. Works well for me. As I always seemed to come up short with a wedge. The ball rolls forward with the 8 iron. Good luck. I enjoy your videos. More please.
with the driving if you start playing for your cut every drive, you will get more comfortable and can get more distance if you always aim left of fairway and ball always cuts back. get in that groove then you can really start ripping some drives longer with your cut. you can even play for a slice as well. just make sure the clubface is always square at address or even slightly open. if your clubface is bit closed then try to play for cut then you will get pulls and pull hooks.
Glad you are back- your vid’s are easy to watch, good commentary, and way better then the idiots who have to use catchy/click bait titles to try and get you to watch.
I'm going to cure that slice right now. Stick a golf glove under your left arm (right up in your pit) and swing without letting that glove fall out. You will be forced to keep that club in the slot on the downswing, which is where your problem is. You're taking the club away from the ball pretty well (you're inside of the ball), but you're moving those hands up and over the top when you start the downswing (coming over the top). I really like your posture and setup, so I think you can easily get rid of that slice and start striking the ball better.
#4 is always a stupid hard par 3 - don't think I've ever made it out of there with better than bogey. The window on the tee shot on #9 is ridiculously tight. Looking forward to see how you played #13 and #17!
It’s hard to keep up with family work dog weight loss golf - only so many hours and a lot of time goes into editing - if I didn’t need the ball tracer or scorecard maybe possible but 🤷🏻♂️
Got to learn to throw the golf club at your intermediate target. Don't concentrate on hitting the ball. The ball is just an intersection on the way to the target. If u try to hit the ball u will be over the top and fat 24/7. Send grass clippings towards your target. This tip changed my golf game years ago.
@@FatGuyGolf Nice! Thanks for that info. Can I offer some advice to you??? POST MORE CONTENT!!! I don’t know if you realize how much your channel can truly take off. You have 20k subs without posting much content at all, & that’s incredible! Here is the #1 reason why your channel would take off. Every other golf channel I’ve seen like a Rick Shields or a Peter Finch, have vlogs that last what seems like 10 hours with only 2 minutes of that actual golf shots. You’re a real guy, that doesn’t take himself too seriously, & you’re right on the money with the length of your vlogs. People want to see golf shots, not 2 minutes of golfing and 45 minutes of selling your sponsorship to make money. I think if you got more consistent & just pumped out more videos, it would go a long way. Even if you did it in 3 hole videos in order to post more content more often. Easier said than done. I get it. Work & a lady will tie up a lot of your time. I’m just saying that you’re pretty dang original & that’s hard to do these days. Really enjoy watching you.
6:50 too short and too stiff backswing on the chips. relax wrists bit more. also notice some of your putts same thing. too short of backswing then too hard follow through and ball zooms past hole. slower longer backswing on putts and chips. be more relaxed less stiff
@@FatGuyGolf Actually most of the pros have a tendency in their swing where they usually hit fade or draw naturally. And instead of fight it, just factor it into every shot. If you fade or slice every shot, just always aim a little more left than usual and just be confident your shot will do what it usually does, move left to right. Like if you have your club face ever so slightly open on every shot, you basically know the ball is going to go left to right. Should give confidence you know where the ball is going to end up.
@@Kevin_40 Your advice is terrible. There is a big difference between hitting a fade and a slice (or a draw and a hook). His problem is easily fixable, and he will start hitting better golf shots once it's fixed. Moreover, once you know how to get on plane and in the slot, you can learn how to master hitting intional fades and/or draws. You can't do that when your swing is jacked up.
chipping, be more relaxed and slower on your backswing. your backswing is too short and quick on your chips. you are too stiff. be more relaxed and flowing with chip swing. bit more backswing.
Look how much farther they're going even with over the top. 3:35 245 yards with a very over the top swing. You've very flexible for your size so I imagine if you get under 400 lbs and fix the over the top you can get 280+. For over the top, what worked for me was trying to hit it off the toe, swinging more up at the ball, and trying to push it to the right, imagining the draw
Good to see you back John, your swing and contact look a lot better. Look forward to your videos, keep grinding!

You want to feel like your hands outrace your body actually to prevent the pulls and over the tops
🔥 every time I see you post I get pumped!! Keep it up!

Great to see you back
I relate so much with this. Thank you for doing these - Great content! Already subbed, smashing the like button
So happy your back!

I was just going to say the same. Lose the wedge around the green. That's for the pros
Keep hitting them John great vlog
Love seeing you back in action John!
Let's go been missing these
great editing big guy really enjoy your vids
Big dawg is back!
Love it and feel your pain

Thanks - the goal was never views or revenue - the goal was to see my swing on camera and pick up tips and get better - all this happened by accident
He's back baby!

Im about the exact same skill level but with some good chips and putts i know we can break 80. F yeah Fat Guy Golf! Great channel
Just tee off with that 3W when the driver is going astray. That thing was solid and fairly straight. Nice job for early season golf.
For some reason my 3w is trash off the tee box - don’t ask me - I don’t understand it either hahah
Great hybrid strike on 3
Looking good, Bro.
Good to see you back! Next intro let's do a little WITB?
Keep grinding boss, just gotta find out where the good misses are
From one fat guy golfer to another, love the vids bud. Also in Ohio u should venture down to West Lafayette n play River Greens with me🤘🏻🤘🏻
Solid round Big Fella
Keep playing more!
I like that 5 hybrid shot u made I could never do that with a5 hybrid

13 and 17 next video are ….. a roller coaster of emotions lol - leave it at that
Rule Zero. Never ever let's the club get in front of your hands, driver through putter. Great to have Baker back!
That's a terrible rule, encourages pulling the handle, thus losing distance and consistency

You're looking good buddy! Gonna have to change your channel name real fast :D
5:50 ya just generally play for your cut and aim further left instead of aiming at flag and ball cutting right.
If you could find a way to keep consistent with these videos you’ll eventually be doing this for a living. Entertaining stuff as per usual man

your driving, just play for your cut. aim further left than you are and just feel comfortable it will fade or slice back to where you want it.
A bad round of golf , is still better than a good day at work.
Yes!!!
let's see what happens. it won't be good🤣
Bad read bad putt something don't change. So part 2 should be in about 8 months😂
Hahahahah well played
When we golfing ???
Just text me
How accurate is the yardage on your tracker?
Very - use golf shot app and before the shot I zero it out then go to the ball - everything within a couple yards

I just realized you are like 30 min away from me we gotta collaborate on a video soon
Like your vids, but some advice just keep it simple, trying to draw or fade the ball isnt good unless you have good club control
I’m a 2.2 handicap and it never gets easy! Plenty of days where I have to fight to keep it under 90! Don’t give up
6:50 too short and too stiff backswing on the chips. relax wrists bit more. also notice some of your putts same thing. too short of backswing then too hard follow through and ball zooms past hole. slower longer backswing on putts and chips. be more relaxed less stiff
Looks like you have drop some weight buddy. Here's a tip, grip the club very lightly and relax the arms and you will play better golf
Yeah - lowest I’ve ever been in a video - every year we keep chipping away
7:53 just play for your fade every single shot. looks like you aimed right at hole here, then of course your fade happens. just play for it.
I don’t want to play for me miss hitting the ball 😭😭

chipping, be more relaxed and slower on your backswing. your backswing is too short and quick on your chips. you are too stiff. be more relaxed and flowing with chip swing. bit more backswing.
