I`m a 64 year old bloke with a battered but beautifully sounding 50 yr old Eros. Remember this song being released and loved it since. Thanks to you I am now playing it. A great lesson. Who said you can`t teach old dogs new tricks. 👍
Thanks for this. I learned the Boxer back in the 70’s by figuring it out from the record (wore out lots of record player needles learning songs that way). I play it mostly like this, but never did figure out the intro. Gonna add it to the song and use it in my next gig.
Hi I am a bit deff I was wondering if you could give me the picking pattern of this song the boxer on the main part not the intro just name the sequence you pick example no five string so on Cheers for that thanks.
Been playing guitar for many years mainly classical arrangements from guitar scores but never managed to find the picking patterns for popular music. The right hand technique is just as important as the left which has often let me down. Thank you for the lesson I picked it up in an hour singing along might prove to be a challenge. I would like to learn some more right hand finger patterns if I could Regards.........
I'm rediscovering acoustic guitar after years of playing only electric, and I am inspired by the beauty of your playing. Thanks for all the time and care you put into producing these high-quality videos.
When I stand Paul Simon perform the song live he did not change the tune in on his guitar at all he just left it standard tuning maybe he did it in the studio version but not an ally version and basically sounded the same to me I like the way you say the Notes with a finger picking pattern it helps rather than just numbers I’m a note reader anyway so thank you so much you’re a good teacher have a 👍🎸 i’m not confused by anything that you’re doing because I’m a long-time guitarist solo instrumentalist for 46 years I just don’t know how to play it by ear so I read music but I can also learn this way too thanks again 👍😁😎🎸
I'd class myself in the 'not bad' category of guitarists and after the first minute of actually watching you play this I had a good idea of where I was going with it but your explanations further in are good and its an excellent lesson especially for people who are struggling a little with the travis pick for the bassline. Nice work man, and a welcome upload :) Subbed and recommended
Great easy to follow tutorial. Thanks! I am a bit puzzled about your play through in the beginning. Is it the 2nd part? later on you put the strumming bit after having repeated the pattern two times.
Hey you do a great job on the song I love the boxer by Paul Simon an art Garfunkel I wish you would dare homeward bound and T-shirt finger style to cause nobody does it and I would highly appreciate that very much have a great day and thanks so much I love the way you play the boxer 🎸🎸👍😁
Thanks for this excellent video lesson!!! IMHO I'm glad that you are so detailed in describing all of the particulars! However, it might be much easier for learning players to view thing from your perspective, (so, perhaps you ight consider placing your camera(s) above your left shoulder, looking down at the fret board.
I've seen some of your videos. They're really quite good. I only hope it took you less time to figure out the intro to the Boxer than it took me (I had the fingering all over the fretboard).
Your video lessons are amazing. Printing the tab a nightmare. Never go through that again. The tabs without lyrics for reference are a total waste of time and money.
Good god, what's your rush?!...are you really trying to show people this?, or are you just some guy showing how good you can play the boxer?..you are a dime a dozen, might as well just listen to the track and pick it out by ear! Thanks, man, I was actually looking for some help though!
All the info you need is in there, this is one of the most effective ways to learn a song. Use your ear a little, watch the fretboard and listen to what he says. It is hard to pick out this fast a pattern without a tutorial but this is pretty clear.
@@MattiasCL hey Matt, you're totally right, I did actually learn the song from this guy, and I am thankful to him.I was just frustrated and very drunk at the time, not really a troll, just sometimes take guitar playing too seriously... especially when chemically altered! : )

Agree. Bought the Tab music just to lock down the twists and turns. Thanks Chris for putting this together.

Great lesson! Just started working on the boxer and this is so helpful. Thanks.

Well done Mate!
Bob Hochstadt thanks Bob
I was learning "These Days" by Jackson Browne...the chords and picking are quite similar...
Elated to see you enjoying the song
It's a great track

Great video!!
I just can’t flick my pinky well on the very first part….my fourth keeps touching the E string…..
what model of this Yamaha it's sound very nice?

Hi Chris superb lesson any chance u can do a lesson on sea of heartbreak ? I can't find a fingerstyle version anywhere thanks buddy
Merci beaucoup ;)...trés bon tuto :)...ps: What is te model of your Yamaha ?...she sounds really good... :)
De rien Josué et merci, la guitare - Yamaha CPX 500
It would be very, very helpful if you sang the song so that I could figure out how the lyrics lay into your tab, which I just purchased!
3:55 (just my time stamp)
Very nice tutorial. Thanks! It would be so nice if you could do one on Paul Simon's "Duncan" (:
Superb 👍

ขอยคุณนะครับคุณสอนได้เข้าใจและเล่นตามได้ ถึงผมจะไม่เก่งจะพยายายทำให้ได้เพราะมาก
would like the tab included aswell
Bazza tab is on website. Link in description.
Very good lesson but you should have show the pattern of picking better than saying because many don't understand English.
Your video lessons are amazing. Printing the tab a nightmare. Never go through that again. The tabs without lyrics for reference are a total waste of time and money.
very clear tutorial ended .... not much talking shit like others.
AJ Perez thanks, yeah I try not to waffle on too much.
Intro is wrong. See "shut up and play" on this for the correct way. Paul would not have played it as shown.
David Smith altered for standard tuning
@@SixStringFingerpickingI think I understand your reply. The tuning is standard to be able to play it the way you did.
David Smith yeah I did it that way so people can do the whole song on one guitar without having to change tuning or use a capo.
Plus. Don't cover your guitar strings to allow viewers to learn fingerpickings from you. Ty.
Sorry, but it is wrong. This patern i so wrong. Don't folow this guys
tuicom why is it wrong
tuicom you are a prat. Ignore this user people
You´re wrigth. It sounds very nice if you`re just finger picking but it`s impossible to sing over
