I’m noticing Duke has never acknowledged the Artificer
What do you have against Artificers…Duke?
We all know it is on SS tier but they couldn't fit such magnificence in the board without making all other classes feel inadequate...
For some license bullshit it's risky/really hard to make Artificer content
“Artificer isn’t a real class.” -WoTC, probably
@@moviz1277 putting them on a short video tier list is not, heck @TreantmonksTemple ranked every race and subclass not so long ago...
He has used Artificers a few times
The Rogue really rolled a d20 on stealth, managing to sneak undetected all the way to S tier
Every class rolls a d20 on stealth.
@@IdiotamSpielen I think he meant NAT 20
@@Vagajammer Nah, I think he rolled a nat1. Which means it was a 10. So that's a 27 to stealth, obviously.
Rogue is the best
@@Vagajammer oh, really? Who would've guessed?
Clearly the best class can only be decided by whoever throws it back the best
*Kenku perfectly mimics throwing back*
Bard paladin warlock sorcerer or rogue with their higher performance rolls
At lvl 2 Moon Druid would throw it back the farthest
Lmao. Also I’m happy the rogue got S tier as well
Here's what I want. I want all of your class personas reacting to this tier list.
YES, we have to get this!
Yes
YES
yes, very much yes
Ranger wouldnt know whether to be offended or ecstatic because Duke admitted he likes the ranger class after bashing on him on all his skits
Druid, when played by someone who understands the class, deserves at least A tier.
Thank you
Easily
Druid, when level 20 and Circle of the Moon AND played by someone who understands the class, deserves S Tier. Most other druids are D Tier. Spores deserves A Tier, regardless of the player, new or veteran, because of its crowd control capability and very potent resistances
It USED to at least.... look at what they did to my boy xd
Druid/rogue multiclass support caster is absurdly good and worthy of at least A-tier, situationally up to S
For all of those wondering why the artificer was not there. I am sorry to inform you, but his car broke down wasn’t able to make it to the tier list sadly.
this is the funniest comment i’ve ever read
The fact that he is (joined) responsible for the bard memes is just hilarious
as a man who mains paladins and is currently playing a rogue in a campaign, i see this as an absolute win
As someone who has played a rogue in most of my games so far, I can agree that this is an absolute win.
As someone starting dnd as a sorcerer I see this as an absolute win
You should play Batman multiclassing as a Paladin & Rogue
Wdym what does Batman have to do with religion
Personally, Sorcerers are actually my favorite because of the whole "inherent magic" type thing, I mean it's cool how Wizards can cast all those spells, but Sorcerers open up a bunch of different Unique Narratives as you explore how they got their magic and what it means, at least, IMO.
true, wizards are harder to play interestingly "well... I studied.. a lot.. and I am off to travel.. to study some more...? yay?!" :D
Sorc getting put next to Druid at the bottom of the list made me lose some respect 🤣
@ im currently playing a kobold wizard who is on the run from a cult that killed his parents who taught him magic
Also, Metamagic can pose incredible utility at times, completely saving the party in some scenarios
"I use Knock on the door"
"It has 2 locks, they'll hear the first one"
"That's why I Twin-spell it, and rush in"
"I will cast Fireball on the mage, with Subtle Spell"
"Why subtle spell?"
"It helps"
"oookay, well he's going to counterspell it"
"it has no components though, he can't see me casting the spell to counter it"
"Wait uhh.... nevermind, how do you want to do this?"
(both have happened to my Divine Soul sorcerer.. that subclass also making it an amazing healer)
I do agree that inherent magic is fun tho, and some backstories of "they wanted to be a wizard, were terrible in the classes, until they found out they could just do it anyways" or "they think they're a cleric, but they keep praying to a god that doesn't exist" are a ton of fun
@@Artzy4077subtle spells only removes the somatic & verbal components.
"It's not that I can't DO anything other than eldritch blast, it's that I don't NEED anything other than eldritch blast"
-Warlock, convincing himself he doesn't need a short rest
Unless you’re a stabby warlock and just stab the enemies then steal their life force for yourself
Nah it's not that, the reason warlocks use eldritch blast all the time is in case the party doesn't take enough short rests, see if your party takes enough short rests you can use ur spells as much as you want because you know ur gonna short rest soon, but if you run out of spell slots and u can't take a short rest all you can do is eldritch blast, and if ur party tells you they aren't gonna do a short rest you'd wanna save ur spell slots when ur about to, so you use eldritch blast (what I mean is to really use warlocks to the max the party needs to take short rests more often)
The quote of the heat : "Rangers are what everyone want the fighters to be!" It's already a classic!
It's hilarious because for years people said the opposite: "You want to play a wilds archer? Just flavor your fighter."
He's not wrong, though. How many people come into DnD for the first time hollering "I want to be a *Ranger* ... like Aragorn!"
Duke, I'm so happy to see you give Ranger its due. They were the last 5e class I've made a character for, and they were honestly my favorite character as a class that I've made. When you stop relying on Hunter's Mark and start concentrating on their better spells, like Entangle, Fog Cloud, Spike Growth, Conjure Animals, and others, the Ranger can really own the battlefield. And, with Goodberry, they become the team healer to boot. A back row healer. Hi, Cleric! I'm staying out of danger! ^^
Love the Ranger.
I haven't played one, but I love Druids and Sorcerers, and have definitely been considering playing a Ranger. Looks a ton of fun!
Imma be honest the things you're describing is basically druid but druid does it better.
You’re telling me you use Goodberry to heal? You have to be playing a survival campaign, which is like the best setting for rangers.
Druid only spellcasts, also they're furries@@quilfrey1139
Paladin: Why are you here rogue?
Rogue: Because I’m awesome and you’re awesome and this is the awesome spot for awesome people.
Paladin: I feel conflicted sharing this spot with you.
Rogue: Focus on the awesome big guy.
I never played a paladin until a few years ago, and she quickly became one of my favorite characters I ever played. There's a certain clarity to playing a paladin that you don't get with other classes.
I get what you mean. You simply automatically KNOW how to paladin, both combat wise and roleplaying wise. Its simple, its natural, its useful and its strong
I love that Monk was just put in C tier, nothing else said
Right? Like… he too can avoid all those damages that the rogue can. And he can run across water and up walls and his punches become magical.
But the main problem is their main focus is to run behind enemy lines and taking out the squishy enemys but they are themselves squishy what is bad since they usually get taken out pretty fast
@@Mendoza-yi6qk Mercy monk can smite and heal on hit, and gets ki back on short rest meaning they can spam heal the party during short rests avoiding the team needing to use hit-dice. There are a lot of crazy builds for monks people just havent tapped into yet in the popular media space.
@@GreyfauxxGaming sure there are ways to play monks efficently but if you don't want to invest 3 hours in improving and min maxing then it will not be a fun time. Also DMs love to nerf a certain build if it is deemed too strong or versatile.
My monk (lvl 8 - open hand) is actually quite tanky. She only has one HP less than our paladin. I prioritised Con when leveling her so she can actually take quite a few hits before going down. And of course, I can self heal with Wholeness of Body when I need it. She's easily one of the main damage dealers of my party. She's managed to take out 2 enemies in one turn before.
Monks can be pretty powerful if you build them a certain way.
Artificer is clearly the most stealthy class. They are so invisible that they did not receive a mention in this video.
As a Druid(Non-Moon) main who understands the Druid I'm officially returning to Monke after watching this
Edit: Seems like people have misunderstood returning to Monke(Monkey) for Monk, and NO I wasn't talking about changing my class, I was talking about Wizard casting true polymorph on me for 1 hour and permanently turn me into an Ape
but the *spell list*
Multi-class them, so you can turn into a Squirrel and punch someone in the head for 3D10 damage flurry
Wild Magic Sorcerer is my favourite to play in one shots because of the chaos of it all
I loved wild magic sorcerer… til I accidentally turned a vampire invisible and he ripped the throat out of the monk. My bad, guys!
If none of my players pick wild magic I love giving them a wand of wonder to spice things up, after the first one I started making random tables to keep things fresh and it is a blast! Sometimes literally...
Despite your *wrong* opinions, I love this style and would love to see more of these
I'm so happy about the ranger not getting stuck in the lowest tier because of the memes 😍 they're really my favorite class 💖🎯
I love playing a Gloomstalker. That bonus to initiative is crazy good.
I mean this list is a meme tho
Been playing an Aasimar Cleric that accidentally made a pact with a Fiend so she now multi-classes as a warlock...
She's been very mace happy lately 😆
I've been playing a life domain (bahamut) human cleric who has effectively declared herself the party mother, despite everybody else in the party being at least tripple her age. Honestly it's kinda fun.
@HairyHorux , my gal is also life domain which my party thinks is hilarious
Mine is a peace domain whose focus is almost entirely on buff and support, but when angered, she has a nasty habit of critting inflict wounds at max spell level. So far, I've crit about 75% of the time she does do damage and it usually obliterates whatever it is, lol. My party doesn't wanna piss her off 😅
Her goal is to help boost others who wouldn't normally get a chance to make a difference do so, hence the buffing. She wants to empower others and see them shine, doing good things.
I love the kind of memetic and at the same time serious tone he gives when defining the position, and that the monk was put in C tier for no reason whatsoever.
This is no factual list of how powerful a class is, it's simply how one views them, for fun, flavor and expectancy (both to live and the power), the paladin sounds powerful to those who choose to take it and it is powerful when you take it, makes sense for the S tier
You guys weren't wrong, this was indeed spicy.
Would totally be down for more fun things like this. A lot of my favorite videos are just you having fun goofing around!
From a roleplaying perspective playing a warlock gives you so much versatility that it is fun playing one, if the campagin focuses more on rping than fighting
"Um... guys? Can we stop in Waterdeep on the way to the dungeon?"
"Why?"
"Well ... heh heh ... my patron wants me to --"
"NOT AGAIN!"
Ranger vindication! Yeah!!! Neat tier list, wouldn't mind seeing more videos like this, short and sweet with interesting opinions!
The courage to rank monk not the lowest and wizard not the highest
I would put Sorcerer above wizard any day of the week. My spells cost nothing for me to learn, I can use Metamagic to make them better than wizard’s spells any day of the week, and the trade off is that I have access to slightly less spells? Yeah, I’ll take a high Charisma and being able to rule RP and higher Metamagic abilities, thank you
@@lucashayes346 I do love the idea of using the face stat for spell casting, and meta magic is very fun. Important to note though that wizards don’t have to spend any money to have more spells than sorcerers. Wizards gain 2 spells per level, not including the spells you start with based off your intelligence score. You only start going broke when you become a spell hoarder, or you have a subclass that really wants as many spells as possible in their book, like order of scribes (although even with OoS you can do that thing where you find one of the tasha’s wizard spell books and make that spell book your new spell book and then make your old spell book your new spell book again to bring all the new spells back without paying anything)
@@lucashayes346 I think sorcerers scare a lot of new players, cos you are taking the complexity of spell selection and spell slots, then adding spell points and meta magic on top of that. It's not bad, but can be daunting if you aren't too experienced.
Monk go punchy punchy punchy punchy punch and go run over some water and up a wall
why put monk at the lowest?
Duke looks at the martial caster divide and says 'no spellcasters above b tier!'
Ranger made S
@@lucashayes346 I should have been more specific, the martial/caster divide generally refers to full martials against full casters. Ranger is a halfcaster rather than a full spellcaster which is what I was referring to.
I think the reason behind why the barbarian wasn't an S tier might have been because they're so predictable. This can be changed by going the wild magic barbarian path. Every time you rage, you may just randomly teleport 20ft. above your enemy, or be able to casually throw your greatsword, or how about creating tiny magic bombs, or making your weapon just deal force damage. You never know which you'll get, so it gives the barbarian an element of unpredictability.
If warlock isn't in A or above, i'll riot
I've got some bad news for you. Literally all of his D tier are my favorite classes to play
@@nikolarjaniko two of my are in d tier
The real answer to what classes are the best is: Whichever ones you want to play!
Every class has its own strengths and weaknesses, and all provide unique roleplay opportunities, so play whatever is the most fun!
If you're feeling damage (like me) you should try Oath of Vengeance Paladin and Echo Knight Fighter multiclass. Against a single target, you're basically a blender lmao
I was expecting sorcerer to be "What does sorcerer start with? That's right! D tier"
4:34 Ranger is everything someone wants for a campaign where the DM pays attention to things like when the party last ate and whether the terrain is difficult or not, plus we have ranged weapons, double-wielding in close combat, and magic!
And the most jacked stealth rolls ever. Expertise + Pass Without Trace + Invisibility (via Tasha) is just lovely
I agree that rouges do exactly as you'd expect, tha tha they are super stealthy and hard to kill
I feel like this list must be assuming 5th level at MOST. A rogue is incredibly easy for a high CR spellcaster to shut down completely.
All it takes is the enemy wizard catching one glimpse of them and now your rogue is subject to being forcecaged, then microwaved by sickening radiance next turn with no recourse.
Of course as a DM I would find that too mean, but really any martial is gonna be utter dogwater in the face of a competent caster at high level.
@@3of6mylove yeah, played a high level one shot where it was pvp, the cleric cast animate object, the objects have blindsight, so i couldn't hide from them
I was so hyped when you put Warlock in S tier.... 😂
I know. They are so much fun to build and cross class. They've got so many unique abilities and spells.
Why did he move it to d tho. Idgi warlock is great
ImO better than wizard, especially when taken as a minor multiclass
@@matthewtanner7206 Because you should'nt rank a class for how great it multiclass.
that was so spicy it felt like the sorcerer rolled 07-08 on the wild magic table
Really enjoyable to watch! I liked the style and think it would be cool to see more of it! Although I personally would have liked it to be a little longer but whatever works for you!
ive never been so conflicted looking at a tier list as im just simply confused how something is simultaneously right about certain things and then takes a 180 5 seconds later
I would love to see more videos like this, i love the impromptu feel of the video
Ranger's get a lot of hate because of their worst subclass, but they are really fun. They're also the only class whose starting equipment can include a Longbow instead of a Shortbow. My favorite Ranger I've built was a Half-Elf Ranger with Gloomstalker subclass who mostly only comes out at night, because of the 3rd level ability Umbral sight which increases Darkvision range, but more importantly, makes you invisible to anything that relies on darkvision to see you in darkness, which means you get advantage to attacking them, and they get disadvantage to attacking you.
Bro you just made batman
Sorcerer was the first class I played, and it's easily my favorite. Just so much damn fun
>Walks into room
>Declares ranger to be fighter but better
>Refuses to elaborate further
>Leaves
I was already at my limit when you put sorcerer in D tier, but then I had to flip off my computer screen when you put warlock on D tier XD
0:16 that was an unexpected confidence boost, I’m playing barbarian in my first ever campaign!
We haven’t even started and I already feel proud!!
By the gods, actually giving the ranger class some props. I've been saying forever that if you build a Ranger the right way, you've got a jack of all trades who any party would love to have.
Fun Druid idea that I have for one of my back-up characters: a Reborn Lizardfolk who took Circle of the Moon and who's basically just a living dinosaur skeleton. He can use his Wild Shape to only turn into prehistoric Beasts and other animals that were around that time (such as sharks) and every time he transforms, his bones crack into shape as the nervous and muscular systems form around him before being covered in skin.
I was playing kobold druid with crow companion, it was really fun. He wasn't like other druids who love nature and want to befriend animals no matter what, if they left him alone he left them alone but if you wanna fight I will either run away or fight to the death
My most fun druid was civilized "Tarzan", older druid who got completely civilized and lived a normal life in city, only very relucantly relearning and using his innate druid powers for story purposes... He was wearing fedora and suit the for most of campaing :D
As a sorcerer lover whose second is a druid, I feel personally attacked.
as a cleric, I am slightly offended, but also find this relatable. (kinda)
honestly sometimes I’m actually excited to play my cleric and help support the party, sometimes I’m even able to get some action with monsters and things as well. plenty of situations when I’ve had to save the party though. Those were not very fun sometimes.
One time as a life cleric, I one touch killed a dude in an alley with Inflict Wounds. ✨ I always loved playing my cleric, and would do it again.
I’d love to see more of this kind of content!
Artificer and Blood Hunters: *exists*
Duke: Oh No! Anyway, moving on...
Artificer?
I would love to see a video like this about either the races or the pre made campaigns
“ What letter does Warlock start with!?” “
“ S tier, for Satan”
Enjoyed this!
I use to play nothing but sorcerers because they're an easy class to understand and you don't have to deal with books or patrons you just know spells. Then I played a Rouge. Best decision in my life most fun I've ever had in a dnd campaign. Currently playing a Warlock in pathfinder 2e as a yugioh abridged reference. Good list would put sorcerers up higher but thats just me.
I'm still waiting for the skit about the elderly succubus wanting 'it' from a pally that really wants to run away.
Ranger is A tier because it's B tier in like 4 different class roles, it fills in any gap the party has and is good enough to hold it's ground when the big specialized types are missing.
Half a druid, half a rogue, half a fighter, (And with Fey wanderer) half a bard. They're 200% of a class.
They're not the best in any particular role, but they're very good in so many different roles at once that they're almost always useful.
Warlock is amazing and you can’t change my mind
No spell slots?
@@overlordb1989 just take a lil nappy! honk shooo honk shoooo
@@overlordb1989 eldritch blast
"No one knows how to play the druid" good I'm not alone
I think any class can be amazing depending on how you play it. I've played a decent amount of D&D and started DMing recently and it's really interesting seeing people's portrayals of different class. My most recent party I DMed for had a wizard, 2 paladins and 2 clerics, (they did not talk to each other or me before making characters, then again it was ment to be a one shot while waiting for regular DM to return before it got popular) despite the party's composition they are all very unique characters and managed to hold things together mostly. I think it's not always about the character but how it's played. That being said I have played so many Rouges and they are definitely top tier they are so much fun. But that's just my opinion.
I think cleric deserves more than a B tear. Because it depends from the divine domain the pg have. The cleric is so versatile that can be a healer or a DPS (For that I personally recommend tempest domain)
I'd love to see more content like this
2:29 * spongebob screaming *: "YES! YEEEEEEEEESS!!!"
I would love to see a part two, or this turned into a series, covering all the classes. There are at least a couple that I know of that weren’t mentioned here
A couple? Are you counting Blood Hunter and Mystic, because no one else is.
Agree with warlock but I think the sorcerer has a much more defined well of magic and can be really fun to theme your magic. As with druids, you can use your wild shape to tank a lot of damage if you need to and you have a lot of versatility. You can also really easily theme your magic
Ma dude, I need more of this
I love rangers so much. Every single subclass has the potential to either specialize in something, usually to pretty good effect, or just be a one man adventuring party and serve whatever role the party needs at the moment.
One of my players has expressed interest in playing a Horizon Walker which I have always believed relies more on DM participation than most class choices because I would then have to generate extraplanar portals in the world, detail where they go to and what might be coming out of them, and think about what might happen if he decides to step through….
I havent had this much fun doing that sort of narrative world-building in the background since my last Warlock player where I RP’d all the interactions he had with his Devil which eventually led to him going to the second layer of the Nine Hells and eventually fighting in the Blood War
Funny thing is, Druid and Sorcerer are my 2 favorite classes to play.
Druids get Wild Shape, which may not be great at first, but if the DM lets you be creative it has some amazing utility. Unless you play Circle Of The Moon, in which case just play a Barbarian. Maybe not as powerful as others, but definitely a ton of fun.
And, more importantly, my argument for Sorcerer: They get less spell options than Wizard, but they get to cast them in fun ways. A Sorcerer who prepares the Knock spell can Twin Spell it, unlocking a door with 2 locks for one action. If you're against a mage, by using a sorcery point to use Subtle Spell, the enemy can't counterspell it, as they can't see the spell being cast until they're already hurt. And even then, move aside Cleric, the Divine Soul subclass gets all Cleric spells, with Twin Spell added on, making Sorcerer among the best healers in the game. Lastly, ignoring metamagic, Sorcery Points give you extra spell slots if needed, giving your longevity a massive boost in most scenarios.
imo, Sorcerer's are what Wizards wish they could be, but in the end they're just 2 sides of the "squishy caster" coin: Wizards are versatile in the spells they pick before a fight, while Sorcerers are flexible with how they cast their spells during the combat. In trade, wizards can only cast a spell as is described, and Sorcerers can't have as many spells to choose from.
0:57 in a party i was in we had a bard who was almost constatly bored (in character). he once told the party a story about brushing your teeth
You bastard! You got me with the warlock. 😂 lol. Love your videos.
Druids deserve much more love, they can be so much fun and creative to play with 😔
I'm glad Duke admitted he mistreated Bard, that's a character development
I enjoyed this immensely and agree with most of it, although I think Bard should be boosted a tier, because even though it's become a meme-y class overall, for people who are still serious about DnD, the bard really does offer some great support, and their charisma is really handy to have for out of combat situations. Every party should have a bard or high charisma rogue in my opinion. Unless your campaign is almost solely about combat and exploring, and not interacting with other people I guess.
I absolutely love playing rangers. I was afraid to play one for a while because I'd heard they were bad, but I have had so much fun. I love the versatility, love being able to frontline or stay back and shoot, and love the utility of their skills.
I play a smooth talking, level headed, sexually abstinent Bard. Easily S tier with the way he can convince even the most stubborn people to do things they don't want to
Wizard: *Dies of 1d4 B tier damage*
I've been waiting for this
I zoned out with a smile on my face through the rest of the video after the shock of Duke giving Rangers A tier. Also, that quote: "Apart from Battle Master, nailed it!
"...add flair to your bonking, or add damage to your bonking..." *giggles in British English*
And I blame the confusion over Wizards not being able to heal is due to 5th not bigging up the difference between Divine and Arcane magic.
I've created 6 characters, though don't have a group to play with:(
Anyway, my favorite character of them I created is a Female Drow Death Domain Cleric sworn to the Raven Queen:)
As for how I established the stats for each of them is this: The Player's Handbook suggested a stat spread that totals 72 points. I took that idea and simply put 72 points total in a way I liked so no true negatives but very little positives. Then add any Racial Stats or Class Stats on top of that.
Druid is my favorite class. But it would be nice, in some situations, if it were a little more stabby so I can contribute more to battles while maintaining my concentration spells
Answering the question. Yes I would love to see more of this content. And I’m so happy the classes I’ve played are the higher tiers 🤭
Honestly, a video like this of each subclass(per base clear
Class, get a lot more videos out that way) would be fun
I actually really like the fighter! But I have also played once by now. But at the end of the session we reached level 3 and I chose the samurai sub-class and I’m very hyped for the next session!
This wud be better as a discussion board with the questers that u play with to get a broader point in my opinion
Agree with u on all of them btw.
Artificer: What about me? And I thought the Ranger was the forgotten one
Bro's, the second character I ever made was a Paladin. And because no one at the table knew or cared about Paladin Oaths, he basically was just a divine bounty hunter lol.
I like it! No complaints here!
I'm always down for a good tier list!
Warlock in D-tier? Witness the *stream* of tears I shed! Warlocks are the only class whose backstory enforces itself! So much flavor! So much color! I don't care if I only have like 3 spells! Now go away while I flatter the Eldritch Master and beg him to let me dual-class...
i agree i always play ranger and there are some relly sick builds you can do glad to see someone respect it
fun content! and that is a very spicy list xD i disagree with a lot of the placement but i couldnt disagree with any of your statements for your reasoning
Every time someome on the internet hates on the druid i only love my players more. Out of 3 campaigns weve had 4 druids (2 at once once) and my players fucking *LOVE* it and theyre some of the most in depth characters ive ever DMed for
my favorite moment dodging a breath weapon as rogue was when one of my team took MASSIVE damage and I took none. canonically, i quickly hid behind him so the dragon aiming at me tried extra hard.
Bard is 'S' for magical secrets alone in my opinion, can take class exclusives like Find Greater Steed 3 levels before Paladin can.
I like how everyone disses on Warlocks, but they have some of the best cross-class potential, the most diverse array of abilities when comparing subclasses, reach higher level spells faster, and have some of the most powerful spells casters can learn.
I often mix Warlock/Fighter or Warlock/Sorcerer to capitalize on their versatility and abuse action economy.
Yes, bring more tier lists!!!! C'MON
I thought the thumbnail was clickbait; I thought "There is no way he put Rangers in A tier when the skits treat them like D- Tier"
I am very happy that I was wrong.
I like my current monk, she's a Kensei with some rogue levels, who is nearly unkillable because of her speed and ranged attacks.
While I don't agree with the rankings, I really enjoyed the video as is. No farther editing needed.
Keep them coming!! 😂👍
Nice video!
