I thought of Mongolian throat signing too, but it seems to be done differently. I think they use their vocal chords, and they also use vibrations in their throat to produce sounds from the vestibular folds. I don’t know the biological mechanics of her chant, but I read the comments of the original video. Some people speculate it’s a technique involving the air flow going through her ?mouth/vestibular folds/some floppy throat organ?. It would produce a whistle effect, a biological whistle effect. I don’t know how she does that, really. It’s just some theories and hypothesis.
The moment I realised that everyone is singing overtones all the time, unconsciously, things changed for me. I searched for tutorials and they were the easiest way to discover how to produce overtones: Sing a note in a comfortable range to an "u" (like in "you") and shift it slowly... very slowly into an "e" ("see"), and back and forth again and again. Play with the vowels and the position of your tongue and the space it creates. Listen to what happens while your tongue moves in your mouth. That's it, there are the overtones.
Thank you for this comment. I am learning to sing and have discovered via my pitch monitor app that my voice does this automatically on a lot of notes. It started with G4, suddenly also showing I was hitting G5. I had, and still don't have, any idea how this is happening or how to control it. It's now happening on more and more notes and sometimes the pitch monitor picks up a totally different note ie I was singing a lyric on G3 I think it was and was also hitting a D4 at the same time. No idea how that happened.
Ive heard alot of throat noises but no one singing actual words. Diana switches vocals and they do layer her voice whichbi think people mistake. It is a cool thing though.
It’s an absolute SIN you haven’t yet posted a reaction for Dimash’s Slavic Bazaar performance of S.O.S. Please consider making it your next react video! Love your thoughtful analyzation so I’d love to see it applied to arguably the best vocalist in the world.
You may want to check out Tuvan throat singing. I watched a documentary about the indigenous people of the Republic of Tuva back in the 90s.
Sounds like Mongolian throat singing. Check out a Mongolian group called HU.
Dimash canta un tema acompañado de unos músicos mongoles que hacen ese canto polifónico y es increíble.

Fascinating! I can only imagine how she does that! Thankyou!
I can't think of any other thing to say but that's amazing. That's just incredible.

Only if i can sing like her, i would practice at night hiding behind the brush, and sing to unsuspected victims as they walk buy.
So the harmonics are literally like a 0 valve trumpet you can access from your fundamental. Thats trippy af
