@@ReverendSam1 bro he literally was in the middle of going to three straight finals, and won league mvp in ‘07-‘08. He wasn’t at his peak athletically, but Obviously was in his prime.
I’ve been saying this. The worst player was Mitch Richmond or Reggie. Both were perennial all stars in their prime in 96. They had the best collection of talent for sure. And nobody is scoring on a team with GP, Scottie and Dream.
Imagine playing Hakeem and Robinson together, with GP and Scottie. Hakeem and Robinson are 1 and 2 in most seasons with 200 blocks and 100 steals. Only 3 other players have even done that. Ben Wallace, Pat Ewing and Kareem. Robinson did like 6 times, Kareem 4 or 5 times, Ewing 2, and Wallace 1. Hakeem did it 11 straight seasons. Missed it his rookie season by 1 steal. Finished with 99 steals or it would be 12 seasons in a row. The level of defense that team could play would smother any team.
Penny was already injured when he joined the 96 team, he injured his knee when he played against Detroit during the 96 playoffs, but kept playing the rest of the playoffs and olympics.
This is the worst version of the Olympic team we’ve EVER had.. these dudes are all talent & athleticism… no fundamentals.. lacks toughness & defense.. they making the rest of the world look good when in reality they just play basketball so badly it makes the rest of the world look capable of actually winning
yea, the in-attention to detail on defense is so glaring. So many times they close out, and their hands are not even up in the air. Other times the rover doesnt even close out to the 3, just stands and watch a shot without even attempting to rotate. 'Hands down man down'--M Jackson.
Worst version we ever had? I know you probably don’t watch basketball so you probably don’t know this but it we’ve had a team that only won a bronze…and it happened this century. Just stop with the disingenuous garbage.

Guys that are great finishers at the rim run wild in international play. So mj, Barkley, LeBron, dwade become unstoppable for whatever reason. That's why leaving Kyrie off is so egregious especially for haliburton who's skillset is easily duplicated by LeBron and Steph.
I recorded all the ‘96 games on vhs. The only questions were who was Shaq going to dunk on, and who was going to have the best highlights. Even in 2000, US vs France, it was about Vince jumping over a 7-footer. Games are close now, not because the US team is worse, but because the global game has grown, largely due to those 90’s Olympic teams.
Based on that ranking, here is the points summary for 10 best players for different teams: 1992 - 161 pts 1996- 150 pts 2008 - 76 pts 2024 - 95 pts same goes for top 2, 3, 5 etc ... enough said ;]
I remember that final game in 1996. clear as day! Halftime was 43:38 (it was 2 x 20 minutes halfs format), so it was not a blowout from the start. Your guys played against Yugoslavia (basically Serbia at that moment, that is another topic to explain here), and they have starting centre (strongest guy and extremely skilled centre Zoran Savic) injured in semifinal game. He was sitting at the bench with the crutches pissed off cause he wasn't able to play with broken foot. Only other C in the team was Divac, and as soon as he got in the fouls trouble and wear out by monstrous centre line of dream team (Hakeem Shaq and Robinson all in primes), Dream team 3 pulled out and run far away. Y'all should find a watch that game in full, we all in Serbia was devastated that Zoran Savic was injured for that game because it would be much different mach up and game.
This team is greater that dream team played against fans not competition, the teams that they played were there for the experience these teams are here to win and all of the countries have multiple NBA players
I’ve ALWAYS said this, the 1996 team was the BEST US team ever. There was NO weaknesses, period. It gets ignored caused it didn’t have MJ on it. ‘96 team was better than Dream Team, or any Kobe lead or LeBron lead teams.
You can argue that from a talent perspective. But, coming together as a team, no. You go by the numbers in these kinds of debates. The lowest points the Dream Team played in all their games(the 8 games in the Olympics & the 6 exhibition games) was 103. They never gave up more than 87 points either & ultimately averaged 117 points.
96 is the best because of Shaq and Hakeem Olajuwon they should of been on the 92 team Penny and Gary Payton can match up against any point guard in any era the only position you can say is the weakest is the 2 guard/shooting guard position but its not trash its just the weakest out of the 5 positions on the 96 team there is a lot of people on this team that was on the 92 and 2000 Olympic team also.
Respect to Dream Team on same note, the basket ball standards improved. During a dream team, the NBA mad FIBA rules are same So USA players dominated with their natural toughness In 2024 tha NBA rules are soft so players also soft. When they are playing in FIBA, they have to play different game completely. In 2024 the basket ball is same on USA level.
I’ve always said people forget about the 1996 team!!! It was truly stacked. And everyone was in their absolute prime. 12 true HOFs. There are two factors on why people always choose the 1992 team. 1) MJ was on the team and 2) 1992 was the first time the NBA sent their best . The 1996 team was serious!!!! Player for player at the time they played in the Olympics?!?!?! 1996 over maybe any Olympic team!!!
@@anthonytaylor7928 All of them weren’t. 2004 was not a stacked squad. Kobe, Shaq, KG, the top players at the time didn’t want to play. Tim Duncan and AI were the best players, DWade, Bron, and Melo were coming off their rookie season. Definitely was not the best of best. The last Olympic team in Tokyo was not stacked at all. Khris Middleton, Javale McGee and Keldom Johnson were on the team. The topic was regarding the 1996 team and it was stacked. Every player was in their prime and top at their position.
They're called the Dream Team cause it would in fact be a dream nowadays for USA to compete with only 9 NBA Players (like in 1992) vs 61 NBA players this Olympics 🤣🤣🤣 Let's just say they're not asking for American players autographs like they used to for MJ and Chuck.

Simple question: Would either the 92 or 96 team struggle against the 2024 Serbian team and only manage to beat them by 4 points? The answer is no, both the 92 and 96 teams would blow the doors off this year's Serbian team. People talk about Magic and Bird being past their prime but only Bird was seriously hampered by injuries and both were younger than the 3 oldest players on the 2024 team. Every other nba player on the 92 team was in their prime years and are amongst the top 75 greatest of all time (excluding Mullen). The 2024 team other than Durant, JE, Curry and James are all b-teir players. I don't want to even get into the 96 team because it to would dominate the 2024 team.
@chrisa6592 only in today's NBA is a player like Jokic (very smart but extremely un-athletic, kinda chubby and slow) so dominate with the garbage "position-less" basketball being played today. With the combination of Robinson, Malone and Ewing he would be rendered highly ineffective. Jokic would struggle to guard any of the centers, power forwards on the 92 team get real. Other than Jokic the rest of the Serbian team is nothing special at all, yet becuase they play team basketball they were able to give the supposedly "super talented" usa team a run for their money. The 92 team would eat the 2024 Serbian team alive, get real.
@chrisa6592 it's all just opinion at the end of the day but I have not seen a single valid argument as to why the 2024 USA team is superior or even equal to either the 92 team or the 96 team.
@dnice4145 I hear you my argument is that 92 team was older. Tatum is an nba champ in his peak but can't break the lineup. Robinson, barkely (best player during the olympics), Stockton, laettner, mullin didn't sniff a championship at that point. Now Clyde, jordan, pippen, malone. Those were Dawgs. Bird and magic were past their prime. I'm saying it's way closer than you think.
if you are measuring talent, you need to weight the team accomplishments lower. pippen and jordan were on the same team. additionally, you dont count any college kids achievements, which since its college should be weighted lower, but should count.... Draymond is a role player, and the 4th option on teams and he is getting rated higher.
92 and 96 are the greatest teams ever assembled, but 2024 is more impressive to me because they faced, and overcame much better competition, barring they don't lose to France......92 and 96 were literally playing against their own fans. The losing players were getting autographs after the games.
10yrs from now these nostalgic pest will either have wisen up or passed away and the talks will be less bias about the 90's. Granted, the might over rate LeBrons era as well so I don't know.
Yes, it actually is, quiet as kept. If only 33-year-old Michael Jordan coming off the 1996 season played in place of not really American, Hakeem Elijah Juan. It’s the only team USA roster to be totally comprised of all members of all three NBA teams that season. If you would’ve put in his prime, Sean Kemp above slightly passed his prime Charles Barkley on that team, along with MJ, in place of Hakeem or John Stockton, most of the guys were in their prime, or just exiting it, they have size, they have and perimeter, defense galore, they have passing, they have length and athleticism, they have scoring and they had ample spot up shooting with Mitch Richmond and Reggie Miller.the argument for best team ever is between 1992 and 1996 and then I think second place is a battle between 2008, 2012 and 2024 team
The competition has change big time around the world compare to 92 and 96, the dream team is not blowing out teams by 30 and 40 points in every games in today's basketball ,around the world like they did back then, yes i still think that they will win the Olympics today but not by the margins they did back then, the games will be lot closer like today's games because the world has caught up with USA basketball .
The dream team played 5 nba players among multiple teams. The 24 team played against 60. If you put them in 92 against those teams they would win by 80
Completely different time and era when considering foreign players at that time. There could have been alot more, but alot of them stayed to play in their respective euro leagues. Let alone the fact that it was the 90s and you can't compare the reach, access, scouting... Etc to now
The difference between the 92, 96 versions of the dream team and these modern versions is not even the skill but the mindset of the players. Those guys were straight killers, wanting to dominate and take ur soul. Thats how they played then. These guys today may have more flash but arent wired to dominate as much. Those old guys would take everything being said in the media personally and go out to dominate. Times have changed
The reason the Redeem team isn’t called DreamTeam 3 is cus LeBronze could only get a bronze medal so Kobe had to save him. Lebron messed up a DreamTeam 3 cus he couldn’t close lol. Hence the Redeem Team.
There's only ever been one Dream Team. 92 in Barcelona. The fact that you guys would call any other team by that name is blasphemous and therefore disqualifies you mf's from having an opinion about sports. Just stop.
😂 Hilarious take. That 92 Team, because they were older; i.e. Bird and his back, and their collective will, makes them THE TEAM. That TEAM as a whole is in the Hall of Fame.
So crazy about this choice is all the players great om 96 team... but only 1 player Hakeem to win a chip...based on a bunch of things... but sometimes all nba be biased too, so it's a flawed system to calculate who is best... Overall just an opinion
🧢. Magic was retired and sick, literally. Larry was old, injured, and couldn’t actually play real minutes. That 1992 team is probably 3rd or 4th. 96 or 2012 are the best teams based on where the players were in their career that Olympic year. You’re just looking at the name and historical career. Based on career achievements, you’re right. But based on actually where they were in their careers during the Olympic year, that 92 team falters on age and injury
@@terrymcginnis223Larry still average 21 9 and 7 pretty good for a player who is done and Magic was still Magic and all the other players was in their prime. 92 is easily the best ever

96 or 12 are the best teams ever because of where they were in their primes in their careers. 92 had a retired and sick magic, and an overly injured Larry Bird. And wasted a spot on laettner 🤣 but that 96 team was RIDICULOUS, so I’d say the 96 team best ever

I'm from dream team period but I think todays team would win. Players in all sports; football, track and field, basketbal,l skiing etc, get better bigger faster stronger. That's just the way it is.
I've always said Dream Team 2 is arguably the most talented Team USA roster. The Dream Team remains the gold standard, but Dream Team 2 & Redeem Team (1 or 2) are the three greatest Team USA teams since NBA sent their guys.

Remember when u would only see 👀 these players together on the Olympic team or an all-star game 🤔?? Now players u named ALL play on the same team together in the regular season....... where's the competition 🤔??
Is the issue not being discussed is the fact that half of those players played on the 92 team. So if they play on the 92 team, you eliminate them from 96. Meaning that you can’t use them twice they plan on the dream team are they playing on 96 but you don’t count both. With that being said Pippin, Barkley, Robinson, Stockton and Malone, I’m not on that team. You left with Hakeem Shaq Hill Miller Hardaway Richmond and Payton you would have to fill in those other spots with other players because the dream team is the dream team you can’t take away from them to add to other teams later, even if they did play. In regards to the teams who were greater, the green team is still great because magic Amber were officially retired no problem. Jordan goes on to win four more MVPs and four more titles along with Scotty Pippen David Robinson would win two more titles in the 2000s. Drexler wins another and 95. 5:09 And after that Patrick Ewing Barkley, Malone, Stockton Mullins. The rest of those players all made finals appearance. They were a nightmare from top to bottom!
Pip/Shaq/GP/Mitch/Regg/Dream/Admiral/Grant Hill/Barkley/Stockton/Mitch/Malone were all in their primes...
Wow!
No they weren’t 💀
@@dadillonful Outside of the obvious MJ missing, who was better than these players in their primes? This Chuck was better than 92 Chuck. This Hakeem was better than Ewing, as was 96 Shaq. Prime Malone vs a rising star Malone. And no disrespect to Magic and Bird, but Bird was struggling to get minutes because he wasn't the same guy. He was old with injuries, and Magic was declining. So who are you arguing for at this point? Clyde? Chris Mullin?
@@lecapjames180outside of MJ? He was the best player in the league in 92 and participated, he was the best player in the league in 96 and did NOT. Let’s not just gloss over that. All those original members that played on the 2nd team were older, 30 and above. In 92 NONE of them were even 30! Magic declining? No one watching those Olympics would think that. His last season in the nba he was 2nd in MVP to MJ. The only argument was Bird and as you saw he wasn’t really needed. The 96 Chuck wasn’t better than the 92 one. Dude arguably was the best player on that team and carried it over to win league MVP in 92-93. His best year. And let’s not disregard Clyde and Mullin who were MVP candidates in 92, Clyde finished as the runner up, Mully was like 6th.
The 1996 team gets overlooked a lot
96 was AMAZING...

Grant Hill

I think ppl really starting to underrate that 2008 redeem team. Just think about it…Kobe in his absolute prime, Wade and Bron at their athletic peaks, plus Olympic Melo, had bosh spacing the floor, with Prime Dwight down low with CP3 pushing the pace. They would be an offensive mismatch for any other USA Olympic team and could guard everybody

@@ReverendSam1 YES duh Wtf😹 I said prime not athletic prime you have to be dumb
They were all in their prime and healthy too.
All the guys on 2024 are #1 options...the #1 don't do dirty work like rebounds and defense

Also remember penny and grant hill couldnt really qualify for this list because they had not even played 4 years in the league yet
In there PRIME before injuries....PROBLEM

1996- 150 pts
2008 - 76 pts
2024 - 95 pts
same goes for top 2, 3, 5 etc ... enough said ;]
I remember that final game in 1996. clear as day!
96 is the best because of Shaq and Hakeem Olajuwon they should of been on the 92 team
Penny and Gary Payton can match up against any point guard in any era
the only position you can say is the weakest is the 2 guard/shooting guard position but its not trash its just the weakest out of the 5 positions on the 96 team
there is a lot of people on this team that was on the 92 and 2000 Olympic team also.

Respect to Dream Team on same note, the basket ball standards improved.
During a dream team, the NBA mad FIBA rules are same
So USA players dominated with their natural toughness
In 2024 tha NBA rules are soft so players also soft.
When they are playing in FIBA, they have to play different game completely.
In 2024 the basket ball is same on USA level.
96 team was Dream Team 3 , Dream Team 2 was the the 94 World Championships now called World Cup Team
That's because the Olympics is every 4yrs. The 94 team doesn't count. 🙄
Hard to say because the 96 team did not play against good opponents. International teams have improved a lot. It’s a lot tougher now.
After seeing Curry’s performance vs France the 2024 team is unguardable
I’ve always said people forget about the 1996 team!!! It was truly stacked. And everyone was in their absolute prime. 12 true HOFs. There are two factors on why people always choose the 1992 team. 1) MJ was on the team and 2) 1992 was the first time the NBA sent their best . The 1996 team was serious!!!! Player for player at the time they played in the Olympics?!?!?! 1996 over maybe any Olympic team!!!
All of the NBA player Olympic teams are stacked what are u talking about?
I’m glad this team is getting love. This is the best team no one talks about. If Jordan was on that team I would pick 96 over 92
After looking at the 1996 Men’s Basketball team. I’m shocked that Chris Webber didn’t make the team. If he was on it. Then I can argue that they were even more loaded than the 1992 team. But oh well🤷🏿
Webber had a shoulder injury early and missed the 96 season. Shawn Kemp was the biggest snub.
@@ronlinrich Both scenarios are criminal in my opinion. If even if they both went. That would’ve been a fast break festival between Chris and Shawn fo sho🥳
They gave up 18 OR to Puerto. And they only have one NBA player. And everyone in this comment section is taller than him.
Simple question:
Would either the 92 or 96 team struggle against the 2024 Serbian team and only manage to beat them by 4 points? The answer is no, both the 92 and 96 teams would blow the doors off this year's Serbian team. People talk about Magic and Bird being past their prime but only Bird was seriously hampered by injuries and both were younger than the 3 oldest players on the 2024 team. Every other nba player on the 92 team was in their prime years and are amongst the top 75 greatest of all time (excluding Mullen). The 2024 team other than Durant, JE, Curry and James are all b-teir players. I don't want to even get into the 96 team because it to would dominate the 2024 team.
Man the Serbia argument is kinda easy tho...jokic. 92 didn't face that. But 92, 96, 2012, 2024 are all ridiculous tbh.
@dnice4145 flatly disagree. But that's part of debate sometimes we agree sometimes we don't.
Shaq and Shawn Kemp were so good on the 94 team. Kevin Johnson too
if you are measuring talent, you need to weight the team accomplishments lower. pippen and jordan were on the same team. additionally, you dont count any college kids achievements, which since its college should be weighted lower, but should count.... Draymond is a role player, and the 4th option on teams and he is getting rated higher.
1. Magic showed up to the all-star game in '92, hadn't played in a year and won the MVP!! 2. Bird had a bad back, but still was knockin' down 3's!!
92 dreamteam is more iconic than actually being clearly the best, like muhammed ali, beatles, bruce lee
They doing every team now. Next is the '88 is going to get a video.
Always reaching.......no shame!!
Nah. I think 92 was the first year professional athletes could compete in basketball
I thought Mark Price was on this team i could be wrong
He was on the 94 team. That 94 was deep also
94 is not special. The Olympics is every 4yrs.
You geniuses are late to the party…
Gil Arenas has been arguing this for couple of years now
Glad I’m not the only one that was upset about the rebound!!!!
1996 Team was awesome
Any team with prime Shaq and prime Hakeem is unbeatable. Like they will foul out the other team every time
The dream team played 5 nba players among multiple teams.
What makes the 92 squad imperfect was Magic Bird wasn't on their prime.
Meanwhile, this year's iteration is barely winning. Good take, brah.
So crazy about this choice is all the players great om 96 team... but only 1 player Hakeem to win a chip...based on a bunch of things... but sometimes all nba be biased too, so it's a flawed system to calculate who is best...
Overall just an opinion
No team is greater than the Dream Team give it up.
Lol these guys lost the 92 argument so now they're going to the 96 team. This team clears.
I agree 💯
@@terrymcginnis223Larry still average 21 9 and 7 pretty good for a player who is done and Magic was still Magic and all the other players was in their prime. 92 is easily the best ever

Always said that 96 team was better. Mix of youth and guys in their prime.
If the guys on the 96 team could've stayed healthy they would've been the only team that could hang with the Drwam Team. People forget how good Penny and Grant Hill were before they got hurt.
Thank you. I feel like the 96 team continues to get left out of the conversation of great USA teams. The greatest is debatable, but I feel like the 96 team is in the conversation for sure.
96 or 12 are the best teams ever because of where they were in their primes in their careers. 92 had a retired and sick magic, and an overly injured Larry Bird. And wasted a spot on laettner 🤣 but that 96 team was RIDICULOUS, so I’d say the 96 team best ever
It was the policy of Team USA back then to include one amateur/college player on the squad so Laettner was the best college player
Now let’s rate the opposition and their rankings from 1992-2024.
It’s more physical and more competition now. Guys more skill
‘96 only team that can beat ‘92. I still go ‘92 because Mike was at his prime with Scottie and Magic could still play. But ‘96 had a lot of talent in their true Prime.

I've always said Dream Team 2 is arguably the most talented Team USA roster. The Dream Team remains the gold standard, but Dream Team 2 & Redeem Team (1 or 2) are the three greatest Team USA teams since NBA sent their guys.

This team that hasn’t happened and it didn’t happen since.
1996 team, redeem team, and 2024 team are the three best us team so far.
The 24 team is not even in the conversation. We are comparing players not careers or achievements.
