Welcome to Two Tired Teachers. The most important thing we said about our state parks is to buy a park pass if you're going to spend much time camping in Texas State Parks.
Lost Maples State Park is a must see, located west of Medina, TX. The foliage at or about Veterans Day is not to be missed, a hidden gem thats truly beautiful . I'm sure you would have to book ahead for an RV spot. Its a great day trip from the San Antonio area.
Garner State Park is nice in the off season. I've been there in November when there was only one other camper there. It was deer season and there were deer moving all around us and we had wild Turkeys 10 feet from our travel trailer. We made the drive to John Nance Garner's home and museum while were there.
Alright, nobody better to "learn" about Texas state parks than from two tired teachers!! I have lived in Texas altogether for approximately 5 years and it's always nice to learn more!
Excellent points about your favorites. It's difficult to make that type of list. On my trip last summer we were making our way back from Tucson to Durant, OK and Amarillo was one of our stops. It was an easy day and an early stop so we made our way over Palo Duro for some exploring. What a beautiful place with rich history. Loved the way you drive down into the canyon instead of viewing from up top. Highly recommend.
That's one I really want us to visit in the RV. When we were last there, we were with our parents. We weere young teens. I think it's time to go back. Thanks so much for your comment.
Keep up the great work, love your videos! Our family favorites are Garner & Pedernales Falls, we hope to make it to Big Bend this winter. On our way from Colorado, we stopped by Palo Duro & Cap Rock Canyon... AMAZING!!! We will be going back with our camper. We want to get to Balmorhea, Davis, Caddo & Llano as well.
Caprock is one of my favorite Texas park along with Tyler. Great list with plenty of diversity and you are right about the State park pass which is worth the money.
Ladies, you might not have been to Daingerfield State Park in Daingerfield, Texas. It's tops in my list. Big Pine Loop. All are pull throughs and full hook ups, and has really nice restrooms.
Stayed at Davis Mtns SP. Good hiking and attended a star party at the observatory. Please revisit your list annually so you can add your new favorites.
Fort Davis and McDonald’s are so much fun! Gotta love the Sandhills too! I can’t wait to take my boy there. Now that we live in the metroplex it’s a long haul! Garner is my favorite as a kid! I’ll agree mission is a beautiful park! My wife and son love it
We were blown away by the McDonalds Observatory. We've never actually stayed at Fort Davis, but it's on our short list. If you are that far west, check out Balmorhea if it's open. That is where you can scuba dive in the desert in a spring fed pool that is perfectly clear and up to 25' deep.
@@TwoTiredTeachers Yes Balmorhea is on my wife’s short list! I went as a child several times. (I’m originally from Odessa) It’s a unique experience one must experience. Love your videos. My wife is a teacher (2nd) and I taught (art) 13 years before going into business for myself.
@@renerocha6334 We didn't realize you are a Texan, and we didn't want you to miss Balmorhea. It truly is amazing. Thanks for the good words about our videos. We do appreciate that.
Of the parks we’ve stayed in, Palo Duro has to be number one. Caprock Canyons is great also. After those I would put South Llano River. Daingerfield is another one we liked along with Tyler. Davis Mountains is scenic (went through a terrible hailstorm while camped there!) and great for seeing Fort Davis (pet friendly park). Although small, Mother Neff has a pretty nice campground. We’ve stayed at others but those are the ones that stand out to me. There’s many others we have yet to visit and I’m sure some will become favorites. Thanks for sharing your favorite places. 😃
Did you happen to go to the MacDonald Observatory while you were at Fort Davis? That is a wonderful place. We highly recommend the Star Party, a night time viewing of stars and planets. We thoroughly enjoyed Daingerfield. We gone back and forth about Mother Neff, and it's never worked out for us. Thank you for sharing your favorites.
At the end, I was going, Palo Duro, Palo Duro. And then Yes. We're eager to get out with our RV and you've given a couple I definitely want to try and more than one I want to revisit. Enjoyed, thanks for letting me follow along.
We wanted to make it to Palo Dura this spring, but then Covid 19 hit. We're still traveling, but it's a bit hot for campsites in the Panhandle. Maybe we'll get there in the fall.
You ladies should come to Bloy’s Campmeeting (yes, they spell it as a compound word) It’s just outside of Fort Davis and it’s an awesome experience. It’s an old cowboy camp gospel meeting. On Thursday night of campmeeting week, we attend a star party at the McDonald Observatory! Always an incredible experience! Happens in the first week or so of august. If you’re interested, I can help you get in touch with the RV camp ground to secure a site. All meals, water, and electricity are provided, an offering/donation to the Bloy’s Campmeeting Association is appreciated! You will not regret it!
We love our state parks. No matter where you live in Texas, there is a state park not too far away. East TX parks are pine tree covered bits of paradise. Anything from about Lake Brownwood west, has fewer trees, but unless you are in far West Texas you will have some trees. Lots of parks have lakes where you do not need a fishing license to fish if you are on a pier or on land in the state park. If you have questions, please ask. Welcome to the Lone Star State!
We may have an opportunity to visit at the end of Nov, beginning of Dec. My sister lives in Oak Point which I believe is not too far from Denton. Are there any state parks with full service cabins in that area? We would love to stay in a state park rather then a hotel. Thanks for sharing.
The closet thing to cabins is a lodge at Ray Roberts Lake. You can look it up online. It is Lone Star Lodge and Marina. From their website, "All of our rooms are $99 plus tax per night year-round! All rooms feature a microwave, mini refrigerator, coffee maker, flat screen TV with DirectTV, telephone, and a choice of a king or 2 double beds." Additionally, there is no smoking and no pets. Hope this helps.
Good morning ladies thank you so much for your information I live in Mesa Arizona and will be moving to Conroe Texas in the next few months and plan to do some camping these videos are great
Two Tired Teachers I just made a top 5 parks myself. I haven’t visited all the parks yet, but on my list is Garner, Lost Maples, Pedernales Falls and Dinosaur Valley SP. You ladies are awesome and love watching the State Park content.
@@MrSTravelQuest Lost Maples is on my list for this year. It's been on my list for several years, and we just haven't gotten there. This is the year. LOL We haven't been to Pedernales either. Thanks for watching.
Two Tired Teachers If you go to Lost Maples be ready for the elevation. It has a cool Monkey Rock too on the point of interest. Pedernales Falls great and know y’all would love it. How many parks have y’all visited? Our goal is to visit all 90 by 2022.
If you haven't visited Colorado Bend State Park, it's definitely worth the visit. Be sure to check out Gorman Falls if you can. Just watch the slick rocks just as you go down to the falls. Brandon

Welcome to Two Tired Teachers. How exciting to pick up that first trailer. I hope you have a wonderful time using it. Just an FYI. We have several repairs that you can do yourself. Taking the trailer to a shop can be an expensive trip.
Mustang Island State Park is on the coast, but we chose to camp at the Padre Island National Seashore where we could actually camp on the beach when we were there.
Looking forward to future favorite SP in Texas. I’m a Texas gal and appreciate your videos very much!!
Thank you very much.
We love Garner, I’ve been to Fort Davis very nice. Lake Corpus Christi state park and Choke Canyon they’re our local parks.
Would you believe we have not yet been to Garner? Lots of people have said it's a great park.
My family loves Garner State Park. Beautiful hiking, the Frio River is crystal clear, and the dancing under the stars is a big social hit.
Several people recommended Garner. It's on our list. I'm not sure when we will get there, but it is on the list.
Just watched and love the info. Can't wait to see more and watch your priors. San Antonio Texas here and love to go "glamping."

Brazos Bend is an awesome park. Large. Also loved Guadalupe River State Park.
We need to get to Guadalupe River; it's on our list.
My wife and me. GO to purtis creek and Tyler. Because of all the trees. We both love the trees.
Love those two parks for the same reason you and your wife do. Thanks for the comment.
We will be visiting our first Texas State Park this weekend. Going to Palo Duro Canyon State Park.....glad to see it made your list.
