@Tiquono The problem with smash fans is they don't know a lot of video game characters in general... Like there were people saying, "generic anime sword fighter" at Sepiroth...
@@brytilaar It was inevitable some videos would come out while I was making the video, because I take a very long time to edit. Had to have a cut-off date somewhere, which was September 4th.
It's fascinating how much the mentality around Smash Bros. has changed since smash 4 and its drastic increase of guest characters. Brawl had two yes, but they were very much *guest* characters, unusuals in a mansion of locals. Since smash 4 they became less and less unusual and soon became the expected norm, with Smash Bros moving from a celebration of Nintendo history to a celebration of video games in itself. Whatever your stance on this is, it is clear that the stakes have changed so drastically that the expectations for newcomers are getting quite insane to the point where a character considered for implementation must be of monumental legacy. Back in the brawl/Smash 4 era people wanted Isaac from golden sun, partly because of him being an assist trophy. Now the very thought appears impossible and not even worthwhile. I find it a bit of a shame to be honest. My favourite aspect of Super Smash Bros was always finding some characters I had never heard of or seen and then learn about their long or short history. There aren't many surprises now, and I don't think there ever will be any again. It's an era of decadence through recognition after all.

I am flabbergasted that after all these years it's taken this long to learn how that Greninja poll went down. Those results make SO MUCH more sense with the context that each generation was competing against itself. Anywho, I'd cut that half in half again. Only way the next game is gonna make up for any loss of characters is if the survivors get upgraded in the process. Too many characters left around means there's not enough time to go around polishing up older veterans. So KILL 'EM ALL! Gimme 20-30 characters and make those the coolest 20-30 characters Smash Brothers has ever seen.
I always thought it was confusing that Greninja was considered the most popular Pokemon of all time, so this makes way more sense to me. It makes me wonder what could have won against Lucario in gen 4, seeing how popular he is in the fandom. I'd personally love to see some longstanders get much needed tweaks (especially Ganondorf), though I'm not sure how likely that will be. Maybe when 6 comes out in 5 years 🤔
Imagine we cut vertically now. Take the new roster and half it again, and also take the list of cuts from this first halving and vote who comes back again.
honestly R.O.B. being cut so often is the thing that stands out to me the most, and Bayo being in the middle is probably the least surprising thing to mee
Most unexpected cuts: ROB being that low surprised me. I thought little bro had more fans, for a really unqiue moveset and for being so (in)famous around the Brawl reveals. Banjo dying also shocked me. Most unexpected survivors: I completely assumed Ryu was going out around the midway point and thought my boy Simon would be jettisoned in the bottom 10. People hate Simon/Richter's keepaway game so much I'm so happy to see him having fans. Ryu as well surviving over Sora shocked me. The hot takes: I would execute Jiggly over like 90% of the roster, including a lot of echoes. And the Miis are easily in the top 10 most likely characters to return, they sell DLC. Next to 0% chance they don't make it. If anything I'd expect a fourth Mii Fighter tbh.
Great video! Kinda funny that in the previous video about the higher-res stock icons you said you needed them for this video but here they're at such a small scale you would never notice the difference if the game versions were used. Although I don't get why you didn't talk about Gordon Freeman. It probably wouldn't have made a difference since it feels like every roster-halving video doesn't even mention him, so he wouldn't have any votes for either side, but I still feel like it takes away from the documentative credibility of the video.
Props for mentioning the problems with the Pokemon popularity poll. Mashing all the lists together in the way they did was some spectacularly bad data presentation that misinformed a ton of people.
26:04 I am so glad G&W, my main, was not cut in this, I totally expected him to be cut. Honestly I seriously hope he stays in the next game, because there is no other character quite like him. I main him because of his unique animations and sounds.
I will just say, the final character in this roster was my all-time most wanted and seeing the journey that ended up in securing a spot was the most emotional I've gotten in a long while. Thank you Valderami!
Finally, a decent roster from one of these. I don't care who says what, any list that cuts Ridley or K Rool is automatically wrong, imagine cutting either one of the two most hype first party newcomers of the game who are main villains in their respective franchises, that's absolute shit taste.
If you look at the new community roster, it looks like a pretty good one to me. Fair representation, variable play styles, a wide spread of history and iconography. I'd say the community picked right.
Thanks for making this! Love to see data on these kinda things, shows us wht we're in for if this scenario actually were to happen. Must've taken a lot of time to do research on this, i salute o/. Going from this list, if we went by rosters made today it'd look like this: Super Smash Bros 1/N64 (12 characters): Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, Samus, Kirby, Fox, Pikachu, Captain Falcon, Bowser, Ganondorf, Marth, Sonic. Smash Bros Melee (25 characters): Yoshi, Luigi, Ness, Peach, Zelda, Diddy Kong, Pit, King Dedede, Wario, Shulk, Pac-Man, Inklin, Ridley. Smash Bros Brawl (39 characters): Jigglypuff, Mewtwo, Mr Game and Watch, Meta-Knight, Pokemon Trainer (Squirtle, Ivasaur, Charizard), Robin, Villager, Olimar, Mega-Man, Ryu, Cloud, Steve. Since you went out of your way to find all these lists of cutting characters. I know this is asking a lot but could you make a list of how many newcomers you think would happen and which ones you think it would be? Personally i've tried to go through it and this is my reasoning: This would be my roster of newcomers. They added 23 new characters in Ultimate, so i could see them doing that again. Though the roster right now has 89 characters, so if they add 2 rows of new characters on the select screen. There'd be 31 new characters, meaning 120 total. Anyway these would be it: Smash Bros roster (23): 1 - Toad (Mario). 2 - Waluigi (Mario). 3 - Dixie Kong (Donkey Kong). 4 - Wolf Link and Midna (The Legend of Zelda). 5 - Bandana Waddle Dee (Kirby). 6 - Krystal (Star Fox). 7 - Mimikyu (Pokemon). 8 - Meowscarada (Pokemon). 9 - Black Shadow (F-Zero). 10 - Raiden (Metal Gear). 11 - Tails (Sonic). 12 - Knuckles (Sonic). 13 - Vivi/Black Mage (Final Fantasy). 14 - Rayman (Rayman Series). 15 - Bomberman (Bomberman Series). 16 - Dante (Devil May Cry). 17 - Palico (Monster Hunter). 18 - Isaac (Golden Sun). 19 - Crash Bandicoot (Crash Series). 20 - Ryu Hayabusa (Ninja Gaiden). 21 - 2B (Nier). 22 - Agumon (Digimon). 23 - Master Chief (Halo) Smash Bros Roster (31): 24 - Sol Badguy (Guilty Gear). 25 - Doom Guy (Doom). 26 - Jack Frost (Shin Megami). 27 - Yuna (Final Fantasy). 28 - Tifa (Final Fantasy). 29 - Zagreus (Hades). 30 - Kos-Mos (Xenosaga). 31 - Gerald (The Witcher)
I actually cut a section from the video about this because it destroyed the pacing. Low key I think a decent pitch for the next Smash game is to really try and wring this roster dry. Even though it probably needs an overhaul, one more game with no cuts, and the big marketing push would be to go for 100 characters at launch. Call the game Super Smash Bros Century (like a Roman Century). I don't think it's the healthiest choice for the game, but I think between Mario Kart 8 Deluxe doing so well and the sheer casual appeal of Ultimate, milking this cast for everything its worth is a far better business decision than any reboot or refresh would be. As for the 11 newcomers, currently I think the most likely character is Tom Nook, followed by Oatchi and then (copium) Waluigi. After that it's completely up in the air. I think Bandana Dee, Monster Hunter have good cases. Jonesy Fortnite too. I'm sure the Sans Mii Costume had so many more downloads compared to any other Mii character that I wouldn't be surprised at all if an Undertale character is the first indie to get the invite. That's seven. four left. I really think we'll see Scream Tail in some form, because it would be a trivial costume or echo fighter to add and an easy marketing beat to say 'Look, Jigglypuff has this now". But let's just say they're a skin and not count them. But we will count a non-specific Pokemon rep, from Gen 9 or 10. Alear would be extremely funny, especially if they get to be Marth Ice Climbers. Zelda is long overdue for a newcomer, and Nintendo has to realise the fan demand there. But there really isn't an obvious frontrunner. So many options, none stand above the rest. Maybe Rauru? My biased pick is a Bokoblin. Lastly, I really think Ring Fit has everything going for it. Tremendous sales and a fantasy theming that lends itself to Smash. The Ring Fit Trainee is the obvious choice, but low key I think the villain Dragaux would be a fantastic wildcard pick that would be able to rep Ring Fit without repeating the same joke as the Wii Fit Trainer. Tons of moveset potential as well. So let's go with that lineup. Honourable mentions to Toad, Geno, Leon Kennedy, Chibi Robo, Raven Beak, Isaac Golden Sun, Rayman, Takamaru. I could picture any of these guys making it.
I feel like not nearly enough of the cut Smash rosters people have made have had a clear direction behind them (as in, why are they cutting the characters they're cutting, and as many of them as are being cut, other than for the sake of doing so?). I've been working one of these myself, but before doing so, I wanted to decide what exactly I was trying to achieve with it first. There are at least 2 things you should know about my relationship with Super Smash Bros.: my favorite game is Melee (I didn't even grow up with it, in fact it was the last official Smash game I played) and I think that Super Smash Bros. should be about celebrating the history of video games in general. Melee is my favorite because each character feels so different to play as while maintaining a (all things considered) good competitive game balance (which I can recognize while hardly being much of a competitive player myself). I find it fun how different the characters feel from each other, but I don't think the series will ever be able to achieve that feeling again unless its roster is cut by at LEAST half, if not more. That's why I think this thought experiment is so interesting and necessary. The history part relates to how I went about cutting the roster; With some exceptions, characters stay if their series has at least 3 games (characters need to have a big enough established legacy), and only 1 character stays per series (for instance, Kirby stays because his series has at least 3 games, and Meta Knight & King DeDeDe are getting cut to leave room only for Kirby to represent the series). Regarding guest characters, instead of 1 character per series, it will be 1 character per company (In the case of Bandai Namco, Pac-Man stays while Kazuya leaves). With that all being said, following these rules, I constructed a roster consisting of 42 characters (that might still sound like a lot, but that includes 14 newcomers who qualified based on these rules, and the roster can be easily cut even further if it needs to be). I reordered the roster based on debut dates of each series(Donkey Kong 1981 is a particularly weird case for reasons you already know. I could have placed Mario & Donkey Kong in a bunch of different places. Look, I tried my best), and placed all guest characters after all Nintendo characters: 1. Mr. Game & Watch 2. Little Mac 3. R.O.B. (R.O.B. has had enough half-appearances that I decided its inclusion is justified) 4. Mario (specifically representing the Super Mario series) 5. Link 6. Samus 7. Pit 8. Ayumi Tachibana (from Famicom Detective Club) 9. Ness 10. Marth 11. Captain Falcon 12. Kirby 13. Fox 14. Wario (specifically representing the Wario Land series) 15. Donkey Kong (specifically representing the Donkey Kong Country series) 16. Yoshi (specifically representing the Yoshi's Island series) 17. Lip (from Panel de Pon) 18. Pikachu 19. Ray (from Custom Robo) 20. Villager 21. Isaac (from Golden Sun) 22. Luigi (specifically representing the Luigi's Mansion series) 23. Olimar 24. Starfy (from The Legendary Starfy) 25. Chibi-Robo (from Chibi-Robo!) 26. Mii Fighter (specifically representing the Wii series) 27. Shulk 28. Inkling 29. Pac-Man 30. Simon 31. Cloud 32. Mega Man 33. Ryu Hayabusa (from Ninja Gaiden) 34. Sonic 35. Terry 36. Rayman (from Rayman) 37. Lara Croft (from Tomb Raider) 38. Reimu Hakurei (from Touhou Project) 39. Master Chief (from Halo) 40. Shantae (from Shantae) 41. Quote (from Cave Story. Like R.O.B., he has a lot of half-appearances) 42. Travis Touchdown (from No More Heroes) If that's still too much, by focusing Super Smash Bros. on solely Nintendo, this could easily be cut down to a clean 20 characters. Remove all guest characters, remove all newcomers, and remove Wario & Luigi(for being too Super Mario adjacent), and there's a solid roster with more character playstyle variety than even Melee (the 6 Nintendo newcomers could even be brought back for the exact same number of character slots as Melee).
I cant help but wonder if the Miis wouldve been saved if all three were combined in their votes. It is a shame to not really see a good representative for the Wii
In greninja’s favor tho there was a most popular Pokémon poll before which greninja also won, tho I believe that one was only for Japan. While I still believe charizard or pikachu is probably the most popular Pokémon there is some validity to greninja’s status
Despite how much of a technical nightmare he was for the devs as well as him being banned in tournaments, there's no denying that Steve absolutely deserves to stay. Smash has always been about gaming crossovers, so it would feel wrong to not include a rep from the best-selling game of all time.
I’ve been saying it since Byleth was first announced, but they were definitely over-hated back then. Had they switched Terry and Byleth in fighters pass 1, or said there was a fighters pass 2 coming after Byleth, people wouldn’t have been as mad. But because so many people assumed a Fire Emblem character was the final character to be added to the game, people threw such a hissy fit! 😅
I doubt that the developers of the next game would fully cut the roster in half, but honestly there's only like seven or eight characters I would push up into the keep zone.
What is going on with RUclips, it's shown 2 small creators with amazing content (You and Valderami) I thought great content creators with small audiences were suppose to stay small I mean when I clicked on your and Valderami's video and saw the sub count I thought, oh... this is gonna be rough but... Thank you dude, Comments like this mean a lot! Im glad RUclips is pushing smaller creators more now because I really loved this video by Max Hamm and I cant wait to see what he makes next!
It's amazing how every time one of these lists comes up, people are wrong in an entirely unique and different way. Honestly, if I were to do one of these roster videos I would be completely unapologetic about it being just for me. Cut everyone from Fire Emblem and Pokemon. 3 4th-party reps. Axem Rangers playable before Geno. People are too afraid to make these THEIRS.
honestly, didn't expect my man bowser jr. to be dropped already as the 6th fighter. always loved that little bastard, especially since his moveset is one of a kind I'd say. maybe he's just the fat of the marioverse that got trimmed. anyway, great video mate!
It was so funny watching this video and being like "This guy's cool, I should check out his other stuff." Only to learn that he's the Master Chief for smash guy that I made all my friends watch like a year ago because I like Halo too much
Everyone cites the poll of Greninja winning but they never cite the poll a year later that had Dedenne decisively beat both Greninja and literally every other Pokémon. They should be chanting for Dedenne to be in Smash, not Greninja!
On one hand: RIDLEY SURVIVED!!!!! On the other hand: Banjo and Kazooie did not. :( On the third mutant hand: The Original 12 are still here, yay! On the fourth mechanical hand growing out of my back: THEY CUT IKE WHAT THE HELL
Yo I didn't know DaBuzz was based like that edit: Alright, now that I've watched the video, the final roster honestly isn't that bad. Sad (but not too surprised) to my main Roy gone, and keeping Greninja over Lucario is *criminal* Overall, not what I would have gone with, but not terrible. As long as Sonic stays, I'm good
Honestly a pretty well rounded roster. Tho I think most people made one mistake... I HIGHLY doubt they'd get rid of all Mii fighters! Too much DLC potential
After thinking on it for a while...yeah, I could accept this roster. Being the greedy jerk I am, I'd be overjoyed with a roster that was this + the last 10 cuts, with the caveat that the Miis come as a package deal, so Sephiroth squeaks in. A lot of my faves were taken out there and I would like it if Sora stuck around for at least one more game, given his unique position in Smash history.
Pit survives! :D Oh hey immediately cutting the last echoes. Also yes, I know about the Nana cutting. I watched that too. Great video. I've watched half of it and Pit's still in, so that's all the info I need. Maybe. Eh, I'll edit this comment later if needed. Lady Palutena's not surviving tho is she. Thumbnails always spoil. FIFTY PERCENT OFF. well, if the community says so, then I'm exhuming it to get the better accessory Shattered Community EDIT 3: 27:56 I love the bait and switch edits you do. Keep 'em coming! EDIT 4: 32:06 already am. Also, Nooooooo! Captain N the Game Master gang are split once more! Curse you Polnareff! No wait.
Bayo being extra and squeezing in last second, love to see that. Also, imo, if you’re making a list like this and keep Fox and Meta Knight for the “preserving Smash History” reason, it’d be hypocritical to not keep her too. Anyway, despite how it was made, this is not the most insane list I’ve seen. I generally like it, with a few exceptions. I made one myself awhile back and it has a few characters shuffled around from this one. I’ve got; Incineroar, Ike, Duck Hunt, R.O.B., Richter, Snake, Kazyua and Mii Brawler over Wario, Diddy Kong, Olimar, Villiger, Jigglypuff, Hero, Greninja and Little Mac.
Don’t count Fortnite as the biggest crossover, smash Bros every character does their own thing in Fortnite it’s just skins And yes before you say OHH BUT ECHO FIGHTERS There still like 80 original movesets
I hope Smash 6 is a reboot, just to see all hell break loose, that includes roster cuts and moveset changes. To comment on certain characters, big question is why do we still need Sheik? Sheik is irrelevant in their own series and easily one of the first characters you'd cut, their moveset is complete headcanon and easily replaceable by another of the myriad more relevant and representative Ninja characters Nintendo has access to, and Greninja already exists.
If there's a 3rd party character that debuted in Ultimate that deserves a comeback is Simon, Castlevania has a long story with Nintendo similar to Mega Man and Dragon Quest and I even dare to say that Simon should've been in since Smash 4 but maybe they chose against it as to respect Snake fans since both are owned by Konami.
Thanks for sharing such valuable information! Could you help me with something unrelated: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What's the best way to send them to Binance?
… putting the seed phrase publicly means anyone can move whatever funds you have in it somewhere else. I don’t see why you would comment that on this video of all things, so I suspect a scam, but I don’t see how the scam is supposed to work… How does posting a seed phrase help bait potential victims ? Maybe by getting someone else to post their seed phrase? If this isn’t a scam, you should remove the seed phrase from the comment ASAP.
Tbh if I could only make one change cut Mewtwo (muh 100th gen 1 rep with no unique gameplay!!1!1) and bring back my man Piranha Plant representing the only Mario enemy and bodying everyone online with ptooie
Why'd so many people pick Dedede over Metaknight? I would say Meta is more iconic. Was it because of the mentality that it needed less swordfighters and more heavyweights?
Huh, I didnt exepect the final list to come out so... well. While there are cuts and safes I disagree with there's none that absolutely and inherently disgust me. If we got the safe roster of characters in the next smash game I wouldn't be particularly disappointed.
My big hot take: we don’t need kid Icarus like at all. It’s such a niche series, I don’t think we’ll get anything from it again, bro is just not important at all culturally and I would be happy to see pit gone
Idk why so many people want less content. Nobody should be cut. Tweak some of the echoes to distinct themselves a bit and and like 5-8 more charecters. Improve the online with rematch options, options to swap charecters during a rematch, voice chat, team attack options, better netcode. Allow us to toggle hazards on/for specific stages instead of all off or all on. Maybe a couple more boss battles and an improved board game mode from smash4 and im set. I know that's asking a lot, but if its a hypothetical scenario anyway, i want the perfecr hypothetical.
Impressive insights, thanks! You’ve provided a great perspective on how the market might respond. For more details, have a look at my bio. Waiting eagerly for your next analysis!
I don't care...I believe Aegis will be cut only if Noah and Mio gets for the next smash (Even all the three protagonists have high chances to stay). Byleth will stay with Marth, Robin and Alear.
Not gonna lie, considering how much people think Mega Man is lame in Smash, I'm surprised that people wanted to keep him. I'm just glad that the consensus kept him due to how integral Smash 4 was to Mega Man's modern survival. Few moments in my life will live up to the hype seeing his final smash for the first time at 2014 E3 invitational (shame the announcer that made the moment iconic tainted his own legacy) EDIT: Ike got cut? The most popular Fire Emblem character according to Fire Emblem fans? Sure, that makes sense... EDIT 2: Okay, I can disregard this consensus now that I know Snake was cut. Snake's inclusion in Brawl was such a monumental achievement. Hell, his inclusion in Ultimate was the thing that heralded "Everyone is here!" These people don't understand what they're doing.
I love the Mega Man series but I can't stand his 90% projectile moveset, it is accurate to the source but I rather have a moveset similar to MvC2 were he has more physical attacks.
@soapsatellite But Smash fans on average sadly don't give a crap about FE games themselves. I doubt they'd care who was the most popular FE lord. They'd just want their precious Marth cuz melee rep.

actually goated video, so so funny and very well made, as well as being a great idea
it’s crazy that little Mac managed to make it. I thought everyone would agree that he was a random legacy pick and wouldn’t be worth keeping
Not only is this video fantastic, but it's such a good way to 'make' this type of video.
Meanwhile my dubious actions helped get my main Sora cut
@@Valderami that's what'cha get!
I love how "mildly fun and almost interesting" describes 90% of the content on the internet.
(Unlike this one, which hilarious and fascinating.)
Finally, a decent roster from one of these. I don't care who says what, any list that cuts Ridley or K Rool is automatically wrong, imagine cutting either one of the two most hype first party newcomers of the game who are main villains in their respective franchises, that's absolute shit taste.
If they cut Ridley, but kept K. Rool, is that fair? Ridley isn't even really the villain of Metroid anymore
Ah, Bayonetta using Bats Within to make the cut.
As one of the six robin mains I approve this message
Goated, if only for using Conquest music haha. Especially during the Jigglypuff segment, where the Jigglypuff unit is one of the main characters haha
If you look at the new community roster, it looks like a pretty good one to me. Fair representation, variable play styles, a wide spread of history and iconography. I'd say the community picked right.
As a Little Mac main, seeing my boy pull the most in character underdog win was so satisfying.
3:45 I will be stealing this line for when I somehow get the chance to use it
Thanks for making this! Love to see data on these kinda things, shows us wht we're in for if this scenario actually were to happen. Must've taken a lot of time to do research on this, i salute o/.
Going from this list, if we went by rosters made today it'd look like this:
Super Smash Bros 1/N64 (12 characters):
Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, Samus, Kirby, Fox, Pikachu, Captain Falcon, Bowser, Ganondorf, Marth, Sonic.
Smash Bros Melee (25 characters):
Yoshi, Luigi, Ness, Peach, Zelda, Diddy Kong, Pit, King Dedede, Wario, Shulk, Pac-Man, Inklin, Ridley.
Smash Bros Brawl (39 characters):
Jigglypuff, Mewtwo, Mr Game and Watch, Meta-Knight, Pokemon Trainer (Squirtle, Ivasaur, Charizard), Robin, Villager, Olimar, Mega-Man, Ryu, Cloud, Steve.
Since you went out of your way to find all these lists of cutting characters. I know this is asking a lot but could you make a list of how many newcomers you think would happen and which ones you think it would be? Personally i've tried to go through it and this is my reasoning:
This would be my roster of newcomers. They added 23 new characters in Ultimate, so i could see them doing that again. Though the roster right now has 89 characters, so if they add 2 rows of new characters on the select screen. There'd be 31 new characters, meaning 120 total. Anyway these would be it:
Smash Bros roster (23): 1 - Toad (Mario). 2 - Waluigi (Mario). 3 - Dixie Kong (Donkey Kong). 4 - Wolf Link and Midna (The Legend of Zelda). 5 - Bandana Waddle Dee (Kirby). 6 - Krystal (Star Fox). 7 - Mimikyu (Pokemon). 8 - Meowscarada (Pokemon). 9 - Black Shadow (F-Zero). 10 - Raiden (Metal Gear). 11 - Tails (Sonic). 12 - Knuckles (Sonic). 13 - Vivi/Black Mage (Final Fantasy). 14 - Rayman (Rayman Series). 15 - Bomberman (Bomberman Series). 16 - Dante (Devil May Cry). 17 - Palico (Monster Hunter). 18 - Isaac (Golden Sun). 19 - Crash Bandicoot (Crash Series). 20 - Ryu Hayabusa (Ninja Gaiden). 21 - 2B (Nier). 22 - Agumon (Digimon). 23 - Master Chief (Halo)
Smash Bros Roster (31): 24 - Sol Badguy (Guilty Gear).
Great video! Super fun to watch
I love how you put RelaxAlax in the thumbnail.
Once the next Smash game is officially revealed, you should do the same but with all the newcomers people want.
I was sad that Roy didn't return for Brawl, and glad he came back in Smash 4. I was a Roy main in Melee.
Great vid!
Geez, a 1am upload guessing I'll watch since I'm awake
I wanted to get in before the Sakurai finale.
Ahhh
Look, I tried my best), and placed all guest characters after all Nintendo characters:
1. Mr. Game & Watch
2. Little Mac
3. R.O.B. (R.O.B. has had enough half-appearances that I decided its inclusion is justified)
4. Mario (specifically representing the Super Mario series)
5. Link
6. Samus
7. Pit
8. Ayumi Tachibana (from Famicom Detective Club)
9. Ness
10. Marth
11. Captain Falcon
12. Kirby
13. Fox
14. Wario (specifically representing the Wario Land series)
15. Donkey Kong (specifically representing the Donkey Kong Country series)
16. Yoshi (specifically representing the Yoshi's Island series)
17. Lip (from Panel de Pon)
18. Pikachu
19. Ray (from Custom Robo)
20. Villager
21. Isaac (from Golden Sun)
22. Luigi (specifically representing the Luigi's Mansion series)
23. Olimar
24. Starfy (from The Legendary Starfy)
25. Chibi-Robo (from Chibi-Robo!)
26. Mii Fighter (specifically representing the Wii series)
27. Shulk
28. Inkling
29. Pac-Man
30. Simon
31. Cloud
32. Mega Man
33. Ryu Hayabusa (from Ninja Gaiden)
34. Sonic
35. Terry
36. Rayman (from Rayman)
37. Lara Croft (from Tomb Raider)
38. Reimu Hakurei (from Touhou Project)
39. Master Chief (from Halo)
40. Shantae (from Shantae)
41. Quote (from Cave Story. Like R.O.B., he has a lot of half-appearances)
42. Travis Touchdown (from No More Heroes)
If that's still too much, by focusing Super Smash Bros. on solely Nintendo, this could easily be cut down to a clean 20 characters.
That’s probably the best way to cut the roster 50/50 that I’ve seen (wish Isabelle and Snake were swapped tho)
0:21 I farted in sync with Wario while watching this
Despite how much of a technical nightmare he was for the devs as well as him being banned in tournaments, there's no denying that Steve absolutely deserves to stay. Smash has always been about gaming crossovers, so it would feel wrong to not include a rep from the best-selling game of all time.
Gotta say it sucks that so many of my mains were cut. The only ones who lived were bowser and little mac.
JUSTICE FOR MII GUNNER! You can cut Sans though, Mii Gunner doesn't need him.
Nah no need for this racist crap
Why would you say something so controversial and yet so brave.
(I don't disagree though)
Keep sans, cut mii gunner. Sans has no moveset, and is just an unclickable box on the roster page lol.
@@z-leigh6554Finally. I've finally found the truth.
Real
Smash was inadvertently created by SNK, so cutting Terry is blasphemous in my eyes
6:17 I can't believe that Mortis for a 100% ratio of appearence
I’ve been saying it since Byleth was first announced, but they were definitely over-hated back then. Had they switched Terry and Byleth in fighters pass 1, or said there was a fighters pass 2 coming after Byleth, people wouldn’t have been as mad. But because so many people assumed a Fire Emblem character was the final character to be added to the game, people threw such a hissy fit! 😅
I doubt that the developers of the next game would fully cut the roster in half, but honestly there's only like seven or eight characters I would push up into the keep zone.
What is going on with RUclips, it's shown 2 small creators with amazing content (You and Valderami)
I thought great content creators with small audiences were suppose to stay small I mean when I clicked on your and Valderami's video and saw the sub count I thought, oh... this is gonna be rough but... GOOD GOLLY MISS MOLLY they were both out of this world!!
Who would be the third parties? I'm curious since you didn't list them
I may be a large Fire Emblem fan, but I respect the honesty and boldness of your ideal roster, even if it probably wouldn't be for me.
@@soapsatellite If you mean 4th parties: SpongeBob, Chainsaw Man and Bill Cipher.
@@roxygaming5968 Oh wow, I didn't realize that's what it said
honestly, didn't expect my man bowser jr. to be dropped already as the 6th fighter. always loved that little bastard, especially since his moveset is one of a kind I'd say. maybe he's just the fat of the marioverse that got trimmed.
anyway, great video mate!
21:12 bro did NOT say mega man 💀
On one hand: RIDLEY SURVIVED!!!!!
On the other hand: Banjo and Kazooie did not. :(
On the third mutant hand: The Original 12 are still here, yay!
On the fourth mechanical hand growing out of my back: THEY CUT IKE WHAT THE HELL
Yo I didn't know DaBuzz was based like that
edit: Alright, now that I've watched the video, the final roster honestly isn't that bad. Sad (but not too surprised) to my main Roy gone, and keeping Greninja over Lucario is *criminal*
Overall, not what I would have gone with, but not terrible. As long as Sonic stays, I'm good
33:30 how dare you cut rob
Holy shit max hamm upload
Any chance you’d be willing to share the compiled data spreadsheet?
Good idea. Added it to the description.
This is fine honestly.
Unless you're double-triple jebaiting me or what haven't your forger
EDIT 1: 21:11 wait what. I know Ryu is MISTER Crossover, but a Magic the Gathering card? Whoa. also rip my lady, also there's at least 3 Gods in this roster already: Zelda who Skyward Sword spoilers, Kirby who Star Allies spoilers, and Ridley the Cunning God of Death. Bottom text.
EDIT 2: 22:47 IVYSAUR?!!! WHAT. THE. FIFTY PERCENT OFF. well, if the community says so, then I'm exhuming it to get the better accessory Shattered Community
EDIT 3: 27:56 I love the bait and switch edits you do. Keep 'em coming!
EDIT 4: 32:06 already am. Also, Nooooooo! Captain N the Game Master gang are split once more! Curse you Polnareff! No wait.
crazy how i vastly prefer the cut roster. Its a lot more interesting.
Justice for Aegis.
I made one myself awhile back and it has a few characters shuffled around from this one. I’ve got;
Incineroar, Ike, Duck Hunt, R.O.B., Richter, Snake, Kazyua and Mii Brawler over Wario, Diddy Kong, Olimar, Villiger, Jigglypuff, Hero, Greninja and Little Mac.
Over WARIO is crazy
Also holy smokes, rip Pokémon rep in this game
Oh wait incin is back I think that’s fine then
Oh also smash isn’t gonna cut Pikmin, it’s doing so well!
Why the heck is Steve considered to be safe? He fucking breaks Smash Bros at its base level with his platform camping bullshit
Don’t count Fortnite as the biggest crossover, smash Bros every character does their own thing in Fortnite it’s just skins
And yes before you say OHH BUT ECHO FIGHTERS There still like 80 original movesets
We got Maxed in the Hamm.
I don’t see why you would comment that on this video of all things, so I suspect a scam, but I don’t see how the scam is supposed to work…
How does posting a seed phrase help bait potential victims ?
Maybe by getting someone else to post their seed phrase?
If this isn’t a scam, you should remove the seed phrase from the comment ASAP.
Sans, my beloved, dead
Ike and Simon being cut is a tragedy. DIDDY KONG SHOULD PAY
Tbh if I could only make one change cut Mewtwo (muh 100th gen 1 rep with no unique gameplay!!1!1) and bring back my man Piranha Plant representing the only Mario enemy and bodying everyone online with ptooie
20:53 what the hell is that
Replace Terry, Simon and Mii Brawler with Mewto and Villager, and you'd have the best list possible.
Why'd so many people pick Dedede over Metaknight? I would say Meta is more iconic. Was it because of the mentality that it needed less swordfighters and more heavyweights?
I feel like it's more so that Dedede appears more and was there since the first game, honestly cutting any of the Kirby reps is just wrong
Absolutely gutted that Banjo/kazooie was cut. One of my two mains. Guess I'll just play bowser
Why is damn alpha rad on the thumbnail
SHE LIVES!!! got scared there for a bit but she lives!
who?
@@jayisokay6975 My guess is either Isabelle or Bayonetta.
No more Snake means no more codec calls and my dream Smash game has new codec calls for all characters so Snake has to stay
Alpharads vote is worth half for that terrible smash cpu video era
OMG How dare you cut Lucas. Imagine how dissapointed people will be.
I would rather any of the cut half over bayonetta
Huh, I didnt exepect the final list to come out so... well. While there are cuts and safes I disagree with there's none that absolutely and inherently disgust me. If we got the safe roster of characters in the next smash game I wouldn't be particularly disappointed.
Can I keep my boy Kirby as my main for me please?🙏
My big hot take: we don’t need kid Icarus like at all. It’s such a niche series, I don’t think we’ll get anything from it again, bro is just not important at all culturally and I would be happy to see pit gone
Terry being cut is a genuine tragedy I'm gonna throw up
The Great Gatsby is one of the best stories ever told. 5 stars, check it out 😉
6:18 brawl stars mentioned
Idk why so many people want less content. Nobody should be cut. Tweak some of the echoes to distinct themselves a bit and and like 5-8 more charecters. Improve the online with rematch options, options to swap charecters during a rematch, voice chat, team attack options, better netcode. Allow us to toggle hazards on/for specific stages instead of all off or all on. Maybe a couple more boss battles and an improved board game mode from smash4 and im set. I know that's asking a lot, but if its a hypothetical scenario anyway, i want the perfecr hypothetical.
BLASTBOX
Impressive insights, thanks! You’ve provided a great perspective on how the market might respond. For more details, have a look at my bio. Waiting eagerly for your next analysis!
I don't care...I believe Aegis will be cut only if Noah and Mio gets for the next smash (Even all the three protagonists have high chances to stay). Byleth will stay with Marth, Robin and Alear.
Sonic stays simply because Sakurai thinks it's funny that Sonic is in Nintendo's game on Nintendo's console, and Sega has nothing
Not gonna lie, considering how much people think Mega Man is lame in Smash, I'm surprised that people wanted to keep him. I'm just glad that the consensus kept him due to how integral Smash 4 was to Mega Man's modern survival. Few moments in my life will live up to the hype seeing his final smash for the first time at 2014 E3 invitational (shame the announcer that made the moment iconic tainted his own legacy)
EDIT: Ike got cut? The most popular Fire Emblem character according to Fire Emblem fans? Sure, that makes sense...
EDIT 2: Okay, I can disregard this consensus now that I know Snake was cut. Snake's inclusion in Brawl was such a monumental achievement. Hell, his inclusion in Ultimate was the thing that heralded "Everyone is here!" These people don't understand what they're doing.
As a FE fan, I very much doubt this list was based on who Smash fans cared about was the most popular FE character
I love the Mega Man series but I can't stand his 90% projectile moveset, it is accurate to the source but I rather have a moveset similar to MvC2 were he has more physical attacks.
@@l.n.3372 I would agree with you if the reason Greninja was commonly kept in wasn't due to winning a flawed poll
@@Geneolgia Yeah, I also think Mega Man suffers from being too faithful to how he feels in his games
@soapsatellite
But Smash fans on average sadly don't give a crap about FE games themselves. I doubt they'd care who was the most popular FE lord. They'd just want their precious Marth cuz melee rep.
Hey that least we have cap falcon mario ganodorf ridley meta knight mr game watch king k rool and littel mac my some of my fav still live
