- We all know the next Super Smash Bros. game is in the works especially with the Nintendo Switch 2 on the way, so let's talk about Smash! With how grand and ambitious Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was, it's a common thought that we wouldn't ever get a roster this big again in future titles. It has become a recent trend to ask "Which fighters deserve to stay if we had to cut the roster in half?"
I am asking a different question.
Today I am asking, "What is the worst possible roster we could make if we had to cut half the fighters?" What is the absolute worst combination of people to leave behind in an extreme Thanos scenario.

You wanna know the worst thing that you can do for smash? Make Waluigi an assist trophy again. Better yet, make him the only assist trophy in the game, and include all the current assist trophies in the actual roster.
The assists should be waluigi, skull kid, Alucard, Isaac, Shadow, Little Mac, and Isabelle
What makes this even better is the three new Fire Emblem fighters

Great video, but there is one crucial thing you’ve overlooked. You can’t have a smash game without stages to fight on, so I propose the only 3 available stages be Pac-Land, 75 m, and Hanenbow.

Most annoying way to cut Smash? Immediately called keeping every single fire emblem character. Adding Alear was a nice touch, though
That is a good point. Alear may have their fans, and some may like the depths of the individual characters in Engage, but on the whole all of Engage is an insult to Fire Emblem fans save the gameplay. Having Alear as a Smash character is definitely a middle finger to both Smash fans and Fire Emblem fans.
Another interesting tack is that they jokingly agree that there are too many Fire Emblem characters, and then everybody but Corrin and Alear are removed. Thus, even those who wanted less Fire Emblem representation are pissed off in a new way - Fire Emblem is represented less, but its representation is of the worst-regarded games of recent. Only other choice may involve Alm or Celica from Fire Emblem Gaiden because that game is also hated.

Removing just one ice climber somehow seems like one of the most deranged parts of this roster.
Ok hear me out, keep Falcon, but remove his knee, falcon punch, and any semblance of grab combos, and replace those with zoning tools. He does have a gun, and this would help set him apart as not a ganondorf clone

Pyra gets cut. Too much like Ganon. Only annoying mythra.
Alph gets cut, you only use the pikmin… but you get 5 again like Brawl, and all attacks now latch on and deal damage over time.

First of all, Ganondorf was the one who stole Captain Falcon's movesets. So technically, Ganomdorf is a Falcon clone, not Captain Falcon.

Pk fire lasts longer.
Ice Climber:
Have the up B act like as if nana is still there and have nana show up, but only for that specific move
Sonic:
Make the spin dash sound louder and make homing attack be able to target enemies from further distances to allow for better camping
Hero:
No longer needs mana
Kazuya:
EWGF is a single button input

Sonic's speed is now faster, his spindash, spin charge and homing attack is instant. Spin charge and spin dash is faster.
Meta knight is now his brawl form and 99999999x times stronger
Bayonnetta is now smash 4 Bayonetta but more powerful
Steve is the same as his ultimate form but he has infinite resource and he's more OP.
Ganondorf's moves have 120+ frames of startup and 150+ frames of end lag. His speed is now 0.0000000000000000000000142 and his attacks instantly KO. His jump value is lower than Little Mac
Little Mac can't recover, his jump value is less than steve, his up b no longer gives him height if it's not on the ground and his side b doesnt propel him foward if he's in the air.
Goku is added to break the no anime cahracters allowed rule and is extremely OP. he can solo anyone on the roster as long as you can spam random buttons. If you lose as him then you suck at the game.
Wii Fit Trainer is no longer fit, making her slower and her attacks deal less damage.
Pichu is 900001% more light and his attacks deal 500000% more damage to himself.
Lucario is always at max aura and his attacks deal 1000% more damage than usual
Mr. Game & Watch gets a guarranteed 9, and it's 9999x more powerful. His up b startup is 0 frames, making it instant!
Diddy Kong gets to have 6 bananas
Olimar has 400 pikmin
I'd like to nominate Mallow from the Mario RPG as a newcomer as a newcomer. Hype it up by making it clear that its a fighter from the Mario RPG as to make Geno fans extra mad.
Additionally, make him just as floaty as Jigglypuff but with the moveset of a zoner to make him extra annoying

I think the only thing I would do differently is cut marth over incineroar. It would be very funny to have all the fire emblem characters except the most iconic one, and clearly, incineroar annoys people.
I've seen another comment here saying to keep Dark Pit and remove Lucas, and if you applied this comment and that one I legitimately think there would be real riots in the streets.
I would cut byleth instead, since he's arguably the most unique Fire emblem fighter and comes from the most popular game

I would 100% keep Incineroar just to torment people who play competitive Pokemon.
My first thought after reading this was:
"It's gonna be the new Pokémon Trainer, but they only got one Pokémon, it's Incineroar, and the different skins are based on different world champions. Default skin is Wolfe Glick."
Edit: They actually have more pokémon, but they just stand arond in the back alongside the Trainer instead of being playable.

You know funnily enough in the first draft of the video that's EXACTLY what I did, but I realized I was one fighter short that I needed to cut so Banjo got the axe

At first I thought you'd cut all the FE charas except for Corrin and was confused when you kept Marth and Lucina even though they are really popular, but once it came to Roy I realized the genius of keeping all the FE-characters just to piss off the Smash community.
Cutting pyra and mythra will make half the competitive scene go back to using 2 hands instead of 1
Ok ok, but what if.. the DLC fighter pass characters were just some characters that were cut from the game, so people would have to pay extra just to play the characters they wanted and then people wouldn't even be excited about newcomers because they're not even new.

also, as a Pokémon fan and a big fan of Ivysaur (in his home franchise, not necessarily in Smash) that PT cut is devious, I love it lmao
I think the worst roster regarding keeping the original 12, is remaking all their movesets to be insanely bad. Most of the OG 12 still have fans and players, so fundamentally making them ass would be infuriating. Like imagine:
Mario becoming a Zoner with little combo game using his power-ups, just a barrage of Fire Balls, Ice Balls, Hammers. Basically if the Belmonts and the PK Kids had a baby (*Drake Joke.*)
DK’s attacks become extremely slow, no super armor, giving projectiles from the original DK game that ARENT barrels
Link now has Item durability and has Duck Hunt level brain power to use needing to basically do literal Dungeon Puzzles to do a simple combo, and a shield B attack that just swaps through different items
Samus starts the match with nothing and only gains abilities throughout the match, if the enemy has 50% you gain missiles
Yoshi has baby Mario, every time you take 30 damage baby Mario floats away in a bubble crying loudly, and you have to reach him, you have 20 seconds to get to him and can’t use specials within that time frame. If you can’t get to him in time, he “dies” and you greatly lose speed and jump power for 30 seconds.
Note: But you might say, “that doesn’t sound too bad, you can easily get to Baby Mario in that time frame”, but these are Yoshi players we are talking about. They don’t need the B button. So get ready to hear Baby Mario’s loud ass crying for 20 seconds straight.
Kirby becomes a camper, and his best option is to literally fly over the match and camp away from the match. When in the air you can’t use any specials or aerials without expelling the air in your mouth, which you do by pressing any move. When he inhales it puts the opponent in free fall. So he’s literally the worst to play or fight against.
Fox becomes a tiny Arwing and basically plays like if Villager’s forward and backward aerials was a moveset. Every move is that move.
Pikachu just gets PKM Trainer’s type matchup weakness thing and omega staling with the PP Drain from Brawl. He can’t switch out. And he gets fused with Pichu for good measure and has to do 150 damage to the opponent to gain enough experience to evolve. This resets every stock.
Luigi just becomes a Mario clone, being the Richter to his Simon, he does get to be slightly slower and have a slightly higher jump to differentiate from Mario tho, both by such an insignificant amount that you would only notice if you were trying really hard to pay attention.
Ness stays the same, but he loses PK Flash, trades his Baseball Bat for a Frying Pan, and all his aerials are purely done without psychic energy (punches, kicks etc). Won’t hurt the meta as bad, he’d basically be the same functionally, but to Mother Fans, it’s like crumpling a Van Gogh painting in front of them.
Falcon stays exactly the same. Falcon punch, up air into Knee, up B, all of it. But he’s only an Assist Trophy and he gets replaced by Ryu Suzaku, the canonical (to the anime) replacement of Douglas Jay Falcon. He gets none of the flashy moves and basically becomes a slower, clunkier, Captain Falcon. No flame effects either.
Jigglypuff’s sing can make aerial opponents sleep, and rest is a guaranty kill. And every other move is Melee back air.
I plan on making an "Unhinged Smash Bros Balance Patch" Video in the future, I love these Ideas!

Honestly, I think the funniest part about this is that if you look at the characters that got cut, it's actually a fairly decent 'make the cuts suck as little as possible' roster (plus Dr Mario). Good vid, thank you!

I myself made a list of newcomers but threw realism completely out the window, so here it is:

• The crying goron from Majora’s Mask
• Yanma
• Framme’s Brother from Fire Emblem Engage (yes, that’s what we’re calling him)
• Hyacinth, also from Engage
• Engage NPC, any one of them, take your pick

Playing as Lakitu would be cool, actually. Imagine riding a cloud and fishing your opponents so you could throw them off the stage. It would be pretty fun (and very annoying to play against lmaoo)

if you wanted to cause an actual riot in real life, you should have cut lucas and kept dark pit. lucas is an internet darling and dark pit is seen as one of the most un needed inclusions in the franchise

Adding Alear as a new character got a an aloud chuckle out of me 😂
I requests buffs to Steve and Kazuya, and nerfs to Zelda specifically.
Steve should be able to walk through his own blocks at will, and breaking them should deal damage to nearby opponents.
And let's be real, Kazuya needs more invincibility during his attacks, and maybe another reflector or two.
Zelda's pinpoint kicks feel just a biiiiit too rewarding right now, and I'm sure we could make Din's Fire worse somehow.
I do this as a Zelda main. My life is already suffering, but I'm sure we could make it truly painful.

One more character suggestion: A Sim from EA's the Sims. It comes from It's own fighters pass worth $30 since EA created a price hike for Nintendo to use the character.
The sim is literally a worse version of Isabelle

This is a great roster as a fire emblem fan. To really piss people off add the gatekeeper (minor npc from 3 houses) he already upset the fire emblem heroes fandom, so it's his turn. Make him busted for good measure.
But gatekeeper has such meme potential. Wasn't the reason he got into fire emblem heroes was because a vote?
He was chosen because it was either add gatekeeper or get another lucina varient.
Daisy is my favorite princess in the Mario franchise, but that's largely for the same reason Luigi is my favorite good guy. And it's connected, because I'm a hardcore Luigi/Daisy shipper.

Here’s an idea, differentiate daisy from peach by making it so she can’t float, then cut peach and keep daisy. Now peach mains can’t use the one thing that makes her good
Another Fighter for the DLC:
the TF2 sniper, because out of everyone who wants a TF2 character in smash, *no one* want's him.
Let me guess why:
Heavy is the quite literal face of tf2.
Scout, soldier, Pyro and demo man could easily work in smash.
Spy could be unique and interesting.
Leaving engineer, Madi and sniper.
I'm not sure how Medic would really work.
Engineer would be a nightmare to fight against, but could atleast be unique.
Sniper is the worst of both worlds. I don't really see him fitting into smash. But zoners are annoying, and sniper would be the ultimate zoners.

Honestly, it would have been funny if you kept Mario and Dr. Mario. Mario is so oversaturated by Nintendo that keeping him in a "No one is here" Smash would make people furious, and then Dr Mario would fan that fire.
I'm not sure if excluding Marth, Roy, and Ike specifically would be better or worse. It's still a higher concentration of FE characters (About 1/9 instead of 1/10) and it keeps particularly unpopular choices while taking out the three most liked ones.
Marth is the first ever Fire Emblem protagonist, he's the one with the highest chance of staying. And despite what everyone says I think Awakening is also probably keeping someone because of how important was the Fire Emblem, as it's one of the reasons we even have it today (I'd personally keep Robin but Chrom and Lucina are echoes so they're easier to develop).
Idk about anyone else.

Make sonic just a blue sphere. On the character select screen, every single move , taunts are just the sphere moving left or right slightly, the reveal trailer, all cutscenes, everything. Oh, and make his alts just barely barely barely different. No black, no purple, no different armbands. Slightly different shades of blue.
The addition of Traveler was definitely inspired by the Death Battle Kickstarter
