I show how I did a "do it yourself" complete cantilever deck rebuild project. This video covers the entire process from evaluating the old deck to finishing the new deck build with cable railing.

It starts with investigating the condition of the old deck structure. The decision had to be made to rip down the old deck completely and start fresh or salvage what we could to build the new deck. I was able to keep the deck framing but had to demolish the old decking boards. Next I set the new railing post using 4x4 post. Then I installed the new deck using pressure treated lumber. Finally the cable railing was installed and a new great looking deck was complete. I show many woodworking and cable railing installation tips along the way.

Ya Ive done both end grain arc up and end grain arc down. Turns out when it dries the arc down bows the board up counterintuitively. So I started making the end grain smile before installing.

Did you need permit for this ? generally you cannot attach anything to brick veneers, and max cantilever is 24" with 2x10 or max 1/6th of span..
