I got Legendary Performer Vol.1 for my birthday in March 1975, it was my 2nd record that I got of Elvis. I played it a lot at the time. I cut the picture on the back of the booklet and put if up on my wall. And the rare live songs and out takes and the the interview was really cool. i liked it.
I was 16 and bought when released, the unreleased live cuts from the comeback special were my favs, plus at that time if you bought Elvis Gold Records, all that was available was the reprocessed for stereo versions which sounded terrible , on Legendary Performer songs like Don’t be Cruel, and Heartbreak Hotel sounded awesome in original mono. Great stuff, TCB Ed ⚡️
Great video Ed.ive always liked the legendary performer series,My particular pressing is the really sweet looking gold vinyl canadien release,it makes for an impressive package with the booklet and die cut sleeve, especially the way Elvis looked on the front of the cover, excellent sound quality as well, have a pleasant weekend Ed,stay safe my friend.
I always liked this series of releases. I did not know there were more than three. By the way I see your dog has a nice spot to relax. The place looks nice!
Ed I always enjoy when you do Elvis's Album reviews. and this one is no expectation because to me it's rare gem. I am going to start collecting Elvis's Albums again. I have small Cd collection of Elvis music and some of those funko pops.
Though this album bears the copyright date of 1973, it was actually released in January, 1974 but it's entirely possible some retailers had it around Christmas of 1973. The album was reissued in 1989 on a budget CD from RCA in Canada with no book (of course) and missing four tracks.
What a damn shame, an awesome Elvis like this one, gets re-issued on a budget release. Not kool. I have all of these Elvis records in pristine condition and it's a damn shame FTD did not do a series on these as well.
Mr. Ed. I liked the 4 volumes. The unreleased versions were fantastic. I wish there were more of the 1954-55-56-57 concert recordings. The booklets were a real treat! Still have them. Although I do have to wonder about the song selections. They don’t seem to flow. Those pocket calendars, usually could be found at record stores for free! But, I really liked the albums. Those trips down memory lane and just beautiful. Thank You, Mr. Ed.
*@The KING'S Court...Parabéns! Eu admiro tanto a sua dedicação ao ELVIS PRESLEY e eu amooo isso.⚜❤⚜👍🏻Thank You. 🎼🎁🎼🎆💐🎆Kiss💐😘💐 👑👑ELVIS FOREVER KING👑👑👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻*
I loved this series. I remember seeing this album in the record department at a store. My dad wouldn't buy it cause it was expensive. It was $7.00 😆. A lot for a record he said. He eventually bought it for me. Great record and book. I couldn't wait for volume 2.
Great collection ed. This was ftd before ftd and the best thing was these were the first Elvis albums to have extras like books and here in Britain for cut-out cover I know you had The Aloha with the k out circle but we had that cut-out slide in record sleeve with the photos it was a brilliant collection I went to the store to get the new album that I heard about called Elvis Presley Sun Collection and as I was in the shop I saw this and had to buy this as well over done it with my pocket money that day I think this was the first time you heard I love you because at the right speed because if anyone knows the first album Elvis Presley his debut album they slowed I love you because down slightly this was the first time it was a released the right speed
Hello from England I’m currently listening to a 1978 RCA New York sadly but I feel lucky only Volume 3 limited edition picture disc An interview with ELVIS and The COLONEL The interview is just over 7 minutes long OH MY What stick out for me is when ELVIS says I like the CHARLESTON and the FOXTROT WOW WOW WOW AMAZING ❤️❤️❤️👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻😃😃😃😀😀😀👍 👍 👍 ♥️♥️♥️🇬🇧🇬🇧
Good morning Ed! I had this LP as a kid and enjoyed it- of course I did, it was Elvis! I do have all 4 volumes in my collection although I do not own the picture disc on vol 3…yet! Take care my friend!
I picked this up , at a garage sale , for a $1 ! ! ! I didn't know , it had a book that went with it ! 😳 Now , I guess , I am gonna have to keep my eye out , for another one , with the book. Thanks , Ed ! ! ! As always , great video !
Ed , when I got this album, I really enjoyed it, and to this day I think rca was showing us the fans , a history of Elvis and wanting us to know there's more too come , Ed like a showcase album
Hey Ed Yes Elvis A Legendary Performer Volume 1 is a really Good album , really cool Song Listing , i always enjoyed the unreleased material on this , yes i always like the song " Tonight is all right for love " G. I. Blues & thought it was that version but this is totally different but different is good i like this version as well , this was a really good series & i have this Record & on audio tape as well it was a nice offer when it came out nice booklet for sure nice addition to anyones collection , take care Happy Holidays Peace
Yes said this was brilliant getting this back in the day when Elvis was alive with us looking at the tour list remember that and playing on my mind thinking when is he coming over here the Great Britain which obviously everyone knows never happened
Hi Ed, Looks good. The book inside is great. Like you said those songs have been done many of times but if I saw the album I'd pick it up just for the booklet inside. Great pictures. Thank you Ed xxx 💝
I have been collecting this series and have all the Canadian releases, most of the US releases and all the Japanese releases with the Obi on each. I also have many of the see through Gold versions. Hardest one to find was Vol 3 on black vinyl instead of the picture disk!
Great album, have all 4 volumes . Sadly don't have the booklets for the first two anymore for they ended being cut up and hanging on my bedroom wall as a kid.
I saw a copy a few years ago but the song contents I had most of, so I just took pictures of some of the booklet's pages. Shortly before the pandemic closed stores last year another customer in a record store found a dollar bin copy of it. I have a scaled down copy of vol. 4. I think vol 3 has usually been the most expensive of the series for reasons I don't know.
Hi Ed, i like your channel a lot. Excuse please, my english isn't good But one little thing i would like to say/write: ELVIS A Legendary Performer Vol1....Ed my friend, man there is more to say. About the Parker/ELVIS/RCA Deal in spring 1973...the "fight" between Joan Deary and Felton Jarvis...the Chart-Position of "Legendary" and the "Fool" or "Raised On Rock" Album, only my 2cts Keep on with your ELVIS Channell i like it a lot btw a big and lovely "woof woof" to your "Hound Dogs" @ for the record: in the late 80's a CD version "Legendary Performer Vol1 - and Vol2 of course from Canada was released....but this was not the real thing to the orig Vinyl Versions so far
Bought my copies through the RCA record club at the time. Treasure the 5 LPs. 1 extra being the vol. 3 picture disc. Not sure if anyone commented on Vol. 2. But two version LPs came out then. 1 being the out-takes of Such A Night and Cane & A High Starched Collar. The A 2nd version same LP, without out-take versions. Original versions on the LP. Not sure why they did that or how many of these LPS were made. Covers are both the same.
Hi Ed I also have all of them and I love them all and this was FTD before FTD and I hope you don't mind I put up 1 song each of the LPs my friend Great video
FTD before FTD 😆 high quality unreleased studio recordings have always been every Elvis fans addiction and this was the first taste of that. Also the liner notes indicate all his sold out shows but the colonel would never really tell us if a sold out or not quite a few of his concert promoters were told by the colonel to make sure the concert was sold out even if it meant giving away tickets as Elvis was always concerned his popularity was waning.
Wikipedia lists Vol. I as released 2 January 1974. Good Times was the only other studio LP released in MAR 1974. Two studio albums were released in 1975: Promised Land & Today. Vol II came out in Jan 1976. From Elvis Presley BLVD was released in May 1976. Moody Blue July 1977. Vol III was issued in 1978 and Vol IV in 1983. What I find fascinating about Vols. I, II & III, is that these albums mirror or anticipate the format used for Moody Blue. There one side is live tracks and the second side is recorded in studio. The other interesting note is that my copies of Vols. I, II & III were released in translucent gold vinyl, and Moody Blue in translucent blue. So, displaying the four side-by-side makes for a little bit of fun. The tally for 1974-1978 issues is three Legendary Performance LPs bracketing the last 5 studio LPs from Presley. If we throw in Vol IV in 1983, then the tally rises to 4 to 5. Unquestionably the Legendary Performance series had RCA (1) discovering ways to issue Elvis material as his time in studio was waning; and (2) mining the back catalogue. It was a kind of Elvis 'Anthology' before CDs made the anthologies a lot more popular.
Hi Ed, although I wasn't keen on compilations that mixed old and new recordings, I loved this collection. Tried to get Vol. 2 for ages, then finally got it. There were other artists in the same series, I later found and realised this compilation wasn't designed solely for Elvis, such as Chet Atkins, Glenn Miller and Jim Reeves. Thanks.
I know over there in the US You released I think volume 1 and Volume 2 on CD but they only have a fraction of what's on the album we didn't have them released over here but you can get them on bootleg with everything
whenever rca release unreleased recordings of Elvis material there is never enough to satisfy the fans
these are AWSEOME !! i have all 4.got them on vynyl back in the 80's

I loved the Legendary Performer Series. RCA did good with these releases unreleased songs and alternate takes. Great video Ed! KEEP ON ROCKIN,

From what I recall, I could not find that CD in Toronto; I bought in Buffalo NY.

I have heard it. good release but I don’t have it on vinyl and I still got to get his first few albums
My mum bought this on release but it's got an orange label. I have it now, sadly no booklet inside

Yes but Elvis was the RCA's first artist to come out with this series... upon it's success they decided to use it for their other artists
@@baq8680 I wondered if that was the case.
I want to eventually get them but HATE picture vinyl
Another good “show,” Ed! ⚡️
Have both black vinyl and gold vinyl
Can anyone else see the outline of Elvis's profile (1950s) in the markings on the extended leg (ottoman) of Ed's couch. Or am i seeing things.
