Tired of your worn out, old deck or patio? We were too! So many people have decks that need a makeover. There are several ways to do that. You can buy the deck paint that will coat your boards and give them new life, but that still looks like painted deck. In this video, we not only put down new deck boards, but we reuse the old deck wood. We find several ways to recycle and repurpose the lumber. We build a huge bench, a built in cooler, a skirt to cover all that hard to maintain area underneath it, and give our deck some shade with the old railing. We modernize the new rail system with metal conduit. I also built a new set of wider steps leading to another part of the yard. Thanks for watching, sharing, subscribing, and commenting! Having helped screw one similarly sized deck together, I rue the day...
The repurposed railings turned out great. Buying finished solutions just for getting some shade can cost a pretty penny by itself. Good ideas and a little extra time sure can save money and lead to more interesting solutions at the same time.
